Without getting into the entirety of the case, the article I am requesting protection on was created by one of her socks, Gabriella703, and has been manipulated regularly by some of her IPs [1][2] by an obvious sock [3] and by a suspected sock [4]. Based on the user's long-term pattern of disruption, her persistent intention to create multiple accounts sometimes almost simultaneously, I'm requesting long term protection from IPs and non-autoconfirmed users. At least half of the editors who work on Ukraine related articles are obviously on one side or the other of this civil war. Nevertheless, editors on both "sides" agree on certain facts. Yet an IP has been making edits denying these facts, most notably by insisting upon the inclusion of the word "allegedly", when it is acknowledged by all sides that what is involved here are not allegations, but facts. On a related matter, there is a conflict in the advice given: the Scurvy article page (Protection log) states that requests for de-protection should be made here on this Request page, whereas this Request page states that de-protection should be discussed on the article Talk page. It was semi-protected back in 2009 because of vandalism by User:Dabomb87 but that admin isn't very active these days and was changed to pending changes during the trials in 2010 and changed back to the original protection level after the trials ended. As for the instructions, those are for requests to protected pages if the talkpage is also protected. Once the page protection ceaced, we got editors pushing the same type of vandalism. We're coming up on 3 years since the original article and we still have drive by vandalism making the same opposed arguments. If someone wants to make a suggestion for an edit, the talk page is open to suggestions that don't involve this joke or BLP violations. Pinging Admins (Joe Decker—CharlieEchoTango—Kudpung—Runningonbrains—Bongwarrior—Reaper Eternal—The Wordsmith) for additional advice as each one of these Admins has adjusted the protection level of this page since the joke went live. Note: The message replied by Cyphoidbomb at Talk:Boomerang (TV channel) said it was fully protected and that was his answer to that level of protection - that was a false argument - it has never been fully protected (one would rarely indef an article to fully protected). We truly suspect the UPN vandal will be back, as always, within a week, once he's managed to gain a new IP address, thus semi protection is the way to go. It has been semi protected 5 times in the past with a finish date - clearly that's not working. Setting a time limit is like giving the UPN an alarm clock, he'll be back the minute it expires, and we could then miss that. Making it indef does not mean forever - it means to some unknown future date where a case for unprotection can be given (i.e. we are convinced that the UPN has ceased operations), and the page properly monitored when unprotected. i have a problem with the people removing it because the large majority of individuals in "physics" blindly followed the lorentz transformation without even understanding that it has NO Geometric basis.

i have put my arguments forward on the talk page and did not receive any response by the individuals who are reverting my edits. i find this inexcusable, especially since i'm the one getting a warning for trying to keep the page AS IT WAS AS OF A WEEK AGO.

i think a mathematically competent individual is necessary to evaluate the validity of the block, because the removal of galilean relativity is UNACCEPTABLE. it is WELL KNOWN that galilean relativity has a MATHEMATICALLY RIGOROUS GEOMETRIC INTERPRETATION (unlike the lorentz transformation), which means that humans should be able to VISUALIZE The result.

Declined. Most of the disruption comes from an autoconfirmed user, and semi-protection is not going to help against them. It is unfortunate that gross BLP violation was introduced from an IP today, but it just happened once, and is not a reason to introduce semi-protection.
