Question from Tahooma77 (20:23, 12 January 2022)

Hey, i am new here and just found out that you are my mentor. Originally i wanted to edit an page comparing GUI Test Automation Tools but found out that only tools are listet that have already an page on wikipedia. So now i would like to create an page for the tool i want to add so i am able to add the Tool Comparision page with this entry.

BR Tahooma --Tahooma77 (talk) 20:23, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Tahooma77: declare any relation to the company behind Suxxesso Tool Suite on your user page. Then, gather up sources that are independent from the company and that have editorial oversight. If fewer than three of them discuss the tool beyond a passing mention, wait until the tool has more coverage before writing an article. Otherwise, use the article wizard to create Draft:Suxxesso Tool Suite and submit it for review. If the reviewer declines the draft, improve and resubmit. If rejected, STOP: the subject fails to meet English-language Wikipedia's inclusion criteria at this time. If passed: congratulations! You have finally created a new Wikipedia article, one of the most difficult tasks here. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 15:04, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Original English for reference: I'm not very fluent in Spanish, either. I only learned an itty bit many years ago. If you want to edit here, you will need to use the translator often. I suggest you consider editing the Spanish-language Wikipedia; you may use the same account. Have a good day, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 15:14, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

hello!

heya, just joined recently and learnt you're my mentor - thanks for that :) i'm doing a course at university where we edit a stub wikipedia article, so i've signed up and am trying to learn the ropes a bit before i get stuck into editing my article. Sarcastichearts (talk) 06:39, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Sarcastichearts, and welcome to Wikipedia! An unaffiliated organization, WikiEd, has some training materials you might find helpful. I haven't used them myself, but at a brief glance, you might find the section labeled "Basics" on the main module page helpful, as well as plagiarism and copyright, adding citations and its related exercise, and the medicine topics guideline. If you find them helpful, please feel free to share with classmates and your instructor. Hopefully, they will save you some time in terms of learning the ropes here.
The long and short of it is: your edits will only be as good as the sources you base them on. As a university studen, you have an advantage in accessing sources that are offline (through library itself and interlibrary loans) or are paywalled for the rest of us. Give enough information for someone to locate this source and verify what you add, and your edit will usually persist. If the source quality is questionable, your edits may be contested. Otherwise, they'll be fine. If you have questions and neither your instructor nor I are available, please feel free to drop by the Teahouse. Best of luck and have fun, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:39, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Judiciary of Ethiopia

It is instant page please how long should AfD review take in Draft:Judiciary of Ethiopia? The Supermind (talk) 19:16, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

tl;dr That depends on when other independent reliable secondary sources are added to the draft. Notes to self below:
I put the Articles for Creation (AfC) template up to give myself some time to think on the draft and for the Find sources quicklinks.
The goal of AfC is to minimize the number of articles that go to Articles for Deletion (AfD). (We can discuss how successful it is another time.) Anything that would survive AfD should pass AfC regardless of quality.
The topic, the judiciary of a sovereign nation, meets criteria for a standalone article and so would almost certainly survive AfD. The problem is that this hypothetical AfD discussion may result in draftify instead of keep to incubate the draft until it is fit enough for article space. The draft sorely lacks secondary sources—anything that isn't a statement on the law itself (primary source) is analysis from a single source, Estifanos 2021. That is extremely suspect—a shoe-in draft should give readers a good sense of scholarly consensus, especially with something as well-discussed as the judiciary of Ethiopia.
I suspect the page movers watching the technical move requests board may be hesitating for similar reasons. I can try my hand at improving draft sourcing...when I have access to a library computer that may or may not allow me to read paywalled journal articles. RM Greeks in Russia

Hi Rotideypoc41352, thanks for closing the RM at Talk:Greeks in Russia and the Soviet Union#Requested move 16 May 2022. However, it is not clear what the outcome was, since "split" is not one of the WP:THREEOUTCOMES. Hi Rotideypoc41352, hope you are doing well. I observed that you reverted my edits on Kriyananda page. I would like your help in knowing how can i prove that Kriyananda was more commonly known as Swami Kriyananda by his followers and by the general media. There have been talks about him using his birth name in his books more than his monastic title, but I believe that his personal decision shouldn't classify as a criteria to define his name in a public article. The article being public, should be defined by what do the mass call him as, which is Swami Kriyananda, not Kriyananda. Also, I believe if a revert was necessary you needn't revert to a very old version, but rather my first edit on that page, which doesn't even touch upon what you are objecting as 'insufficient proof'. Hoping for a reply soon. Thank you. Regards, Bluesky. Bluesky whiteclouds (talk) 18:51, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Undo: flow battery

thank you for noticing my addition of a figure to the article about Flow Batteries. The figure is from an article published in a Diamond Open Access journal under Creative Commons Attribution license 4.0 International. please see the journal policy here https://www.pub.iapchem.org/ojs/index.php/JESE/copyright . This license allows FREE reproduction of the copyrighted material, provided that acknowledgement to the original source is provided. If this is correct, could you please reverse your deletion. Walter Tau (talk) 01:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and thank you for bringing this to my attention. May I kindly ask you please do me a favor? Please go to commons:File:FC-LiB-Zn-V-1878.png and update the source? If a URL to the paper is not (yet) available, you can cite it as you would an offline source. I would do it myself, but I have had trouble finding the figure. Thank you so much for helping. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:58, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thank you for your suggestion. I updated the licensing infor for the figure. The page number and the DOI of this article is not available yet from the journal, but a preprint has been published on ResearchGate. Since I do not have much experience with artwork on wiki (this actually was the very first figure I tried to post here), could you please help me with putting it back onto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_battery with the correct placement on the webpage? I will see how it is done, so that I can do correctly next time myself. Walter Tau (talk) 12:45, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I posted the new figure and caption here: https://mega.nz/folder/CU4UWTRB#pMHGHqAEODYTXCy-8InpYg
and here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:FC-LiB-Zn-V-1878.png#filelinks .
I need help with placing it into the wikipage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_battery under a new section "History of Flow Batteries".
I am not sure, where exactly to place this section, and I will trust your judgement. Walter Tau (talk) 15:29, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The preprint, as of 18:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC), is under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. If that is the correct preprint and you are the author, would you be willing to change the license to match JESE's (CC BY 4.0)? Please be sure to read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, so you understand the ramifications of doing so.
If you are not the author, I would kindly ask you please give more information on the source: which issue? Which article in that issue? Who are the authors? Without a URL, the goal with offline sources is to be able to ask a librarian to locate it. The sourcing provided at Commons as of 18:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC) is incomplete. Thank you! Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 18:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
sorry about the confusion, I changed the license wikitag for this file to CC BY 4.0 , as JESE requires. JESE is run by unpaid volunteers, during their free time, so it make take awhile before the final version with a DOI number gets published. To compensate for this deficiency, the journal allows pre-print postings. I will provide the DOI, once it is issued. You are more knowledgeable about posting figures and captions in the right places in the right format here, than I am. Could you please place the figure in the article, so that I can see how it is done under "Edit"? Walter Tau (talk) 14:18, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Hopefully, flipping the order doesn't confuse anyone—I tend to like thinking of article > already occupied name, then the second move is the one that makes room for the first...but then I realized people might be expecting the order in which the moves were proposed. (Hopefully) minor in the grand scheme of things, but I prefer to implement what makes life easier, however small. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:27, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
