Template:Marriage

As you perhaps saw, the TFD for {{Marriage}} got closed as "no consensus". After examining the way this template works, I've proposed removing many of the parameters that many of the TFD participants found unnecessary, problematic, objectionable, etc. The proposal is in the "Removing parameters" section of Template talk:Marriage; would you please go there and offer your opinions? I apologise for the boilerplate style of writing; I'm doing my best to notify all participants in the TFD equally, so I'm copy/pasting the same thing to everyone's talk page regardless of how they voted. Thank you for making the article better by removing the unnecessary content - not sure why the Assistant Priest was removed, but I trust it was for the best. I put something on this talk page a while back about Template:Infobox monastery, I want to update it, but not sure how, is there a wizard or something similar I could use to make the changes proposed in the template's talk page? Oh, has WP:BOLD been suspended, then? You're trying to make up your own rules. You should read WP:UBLIST, which is a subsection of WP:LIST, and part of WP:MOS. It says "For lists of... items, without bullets (for example in infobox fields, or to replace lists separated with <br />), {{Plainlist}} or {{Unbulleted list}} should be used. This emits the correct HTML markup...". Your edit summary that "this is not a list" was laughable. Now go and discuss this on the relevant talk pages; as you have so far failed to do, even though policy requires it be done. It doesn't appear I said "this is not a list" anywhere, so I'm not sure where you're pulling that one from. Oh, yes, indeed, same to you. I think that "Don't get upset if your bold edits get deleted" might be of some interest to you. You made a bold edit, it was reverted. You don't revert again. Church

I tried infobox church on some, with mixed results, Lichtental Church, St. Ulrich, Vienna, St. Martin, Idstein, St. Bonifatius, Wiesbaden, Unionskirche, Idstein, please check. Do we get different colours for nominations? Why has the Protestant one a heading "Clergy" when nothing is there? Citing a website

Hi Andy, if I'm using the cite web template, when adding the field Work do I need to include the fact that it's a website? So e.g. here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Porter_(poet)#cite_note-3 I am citing an article that appeared on the Guardian's website (as opposed to in the print version of the newspaper - it may of course have appeared there as well but I've found it online) so I have specified 'The Guardian website' as the Work - is this correct or should I just use 'The Guardian'.

An associated question: when citing an article such as that one, should I use the cite web, cite new or cite journal template? It seems that all three categories could be applied to articles on newspaper websites.

GLAM pages on en

Hey Andy, there's a few of us at the GLAM boot camp session in D.C. discussing how to better organize GLAM content on en. We are looking for some feedback from UK folks on how they would like content related to UK represented/organized. We are currently working on the pages in the WP:GLAM/... path. (driving-by) The current "front page", which I think came out of a NY boot-camp a while back, is pretty dreadful - like phoning your electricity company. There should be more information and links on the front page rather than just a button menu with 3 choices. Prominent links to the newsletter are needed. If we could all make up our mind where GLAM content lives that would be great. At the moment UK stuff is scattered over several wikis. But that won't be sorted today. My comment at the top of the VIAF ID category.

Not to be offensive, but completely deleting it like that was rude. As I mentioned, in that namespace normal 'style' rules don't apply. I specifically asked people to edit it if needed, but NOT to completely delete it.

I had, as I mentioned, JUST sent VIAF a note to look at what I said. Moving or something (with a redirect) would be fine, but not completely removing it.

The specific thing I am EXPLICITLY trying to prevent, as I mentioned in my mail to VIAF, is someone trying to 'automatically' fix this possibly creating hundreds of thousands of incorrect authority control entries and links to redirects.

I have seen suggestion and discussion of various 'autofix' ideas on at least five talk pages scattered around WP, which have included links to even more old archived talk pages where people mentioned the same thing. The idea of autofixing this repeatedly comes up all over the place, including buried in Talk pages of articles where some random 'drive-by' editor notices missing authority control metadata. Unless something about it is said here, someone trying to be helpful might accidentally break WikiPedia.
There was absolutely nothing 'personal' about what I was trying to get across. I think that's pretty clear. If you had a problem with how I said it, you could have edited it.
I am putting it there in exact compliance with what's said in the header, and WP:IAR applies to complaints about it being mentioned there. If you have a problem with something I said or how I phrased it, EDIT THE DAMN THING as I asked. Revent (talk) 20:54, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Repeatedly reverting me is in direct violation of WikiPedia policies, especially as you have not attempted to address my attempt to point out why mentioning it there is appropriate. This is not a 'personal' attack or anything, but you seem to be trying to start an edit war over this. The idea that my edit was not (or would not be) seen by one of the people watching that page or live edits is ridiculous. If someone else has a problem with it, they can delete it, and that would show a consensus that I am wrong. WITHOUT CONSENSUS OR DISCUSSION, THE DISPUTED CONTENT (though as an ADMIN category, it's not really content) REMAINS UNTIL THERE IS A CONSENSUS THAT IT SHOULD BE REMOVED!

The only 'justification' that you have given is 'I was rude' and 'Not here.'. You have made no attempt to do as I specifically asked and either edit it, move it, or even point out a location where it would achieve the specific goal of making sure that someone who tries to helpfully fix the problem does not break WP. I think it's important enough that SOME mention should be on the actual page, in case someone trying to autofix it doesn't notice it on the (possibly archived in the future) Talk page.

I am going to put it back, for the many reasons I have stated. As I have repeatedly said, you can feel free to edit it. If you completely delete it again, you will be in direct violation of WP:3RR, and I will report you. If you continue to have a problem with it being there, you should raise the issue on one of the Admin Noticeboards, though I doubt that is necessary, as I am sure my edit will be, or has been, noticed by many admins. Flatlist

When I use flatlist, as in BWV 37, the infobox gets very broad. Any help? King Kong

I have corrected some inaccuracies on this page having visited the sculpture last week and conducted research on the it. The previous owner's son Richard Shanley(Carl Racey never owned it - it was Mike Shanley)has confirmed two Birmingham sites which are backed up by photos and video (Gangsters series and ATV broadcasts/interviews). I have referenced Facebook because that is where this information sits. It is no more unreliable that anywhere else I might choose to publish. Please do not undo the changes unless you can disprove the evidence. Facebook refs removed - maybe you need to remember the real purpose of Wikipedia. To perpetuate inaccuracies because of protocol is unhelpful. All you had to do was remove the refs.

Book links

Hi Andy Thanks for today's event at Queen Street Mill. It was great to see so many people and that they were all busy learning more and editing in the afternoon. I've updated the Robert Rawlinson page to add a retrieved date to the newspaper link which I forgot to do before I left QSM. I've added more references and will look more at the newspapers online and the printed material in the library collections. I've been looking at the Lancashire Book of the Year page and have made one update to add the link to Lancashire County Council. I'd like to add links to the OCLC Find A Book in libraries site but not sure if they would be best added as References, Bibliography, External links or something else, Can you advice please.

Vienna Philharmonic

Thanks for restoring those comments.. Would you care to explain exactly what is achieved by having aduplicate move request to the one at Talk:Berlin Philharmonic. Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Requesting multiple page moves quite clearly states that "discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article at current1", which in this case means Talk:Berlin Philharmonic. Ashdod QRcode

Hi Andy, thank you for your comment and for the QRcode. Yes, you are right, there are 4 ordinary codes.

We were just experimenting with the graphics, and used QR type with a blank center for a logo or for a language flag. Will replace it soon by a "kosher" code.

By the way - would you consider developing a QRpedia code with place for logo? It will look better bearing the symbol of town, logo of museum etc. May be even the Wikipedia logo. A project will have a unified/unique look, different from any neighbor.

Nice article, thanks. I changed van to Van before noticing that this is an absolute hornets' nest (see Talk:Vincent van Gogh/Archive 4#van Gogh or Van Gogh if you haven't already). Apologies. Not sure what to do now! I'd always assumed it was Vincent van Gogh, but Van Gogh when the surname alone was used; I now see that this is contentious, to put it mildly. MBisanz, I think that might be a little too much. Andy acted misguidedly when he opened the DRV, but he was hardly being disruptive when he did so. How else could a non-administrator reverse another non-administrator's AFD closure except by using DRV?
