User:Ruud Buitelaar

I´ve been active on Wikipedia for more than 3 years now and have worked on WP:NETH and WP:DEORPHAN, acquiring experience with PROD and AfD. I have created articles mainly on the Dutch Wikipedia but also on the english and spanish sites. I am convinced Wikipedia is a very important tool for research and source of information. I would like to do more to maintain Wikipedia and I would like to help others to start writing articles. I made a first (for now) unsuccessful attempt to become a New Page Reviewer and I hope that participating in the AfC process will be my next step to become a better Wikipedian. User:Staraction

I think I meet the criteria, and would like to help review new pages in AfC. I've had experience going through the AfC process, with drafts both denied (for notability) and accepted (notable acceptances include Boris Sirpo and John A. Speziale). Staraction (talk) 01:47, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

User:I'm tla

I have good AfD participation and vandalism experience. I'd love to start to lighten the load for AfC reviewers. I took a glance at the recent AfC requests, did some cleanup editing on them, but a lot of them have problems that I think will be important to point out for those who submit the drafts. Thank you in advance for your consideration! TLA (talk) 11:53, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Not done, fails minimum criteria. Primefac (talk) 13:09, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the review. So, to clarify, the 500 edit requirement needs to be on mainspace articles?
I think it may be a bit early indeed for this, so I'll continue editing for a bit and re-apply. TLA (talk) 19:55, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Correct, 500 mainspace edits. LittlePuppers (talk) 20:00, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Re-applying, as have 500+ mainspace edits. Per the above, and I'm frankly a little bit disappointed with the amount of questionable / lack of references here (many editors aren't super aware of the obscure paid markings, see this) so a chunk of my editing career so far has been dedicated to that. AfC is definitely a process that would really help with this notability policy. TLA (talk) 05:20, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment): I'm tla, of your 1,000 edits, over 800 have been in the last day and a half, including 50 nominations at AfD. I'm just concerned that this is a bit fast - even while making a lot of edits, time is also helpful for gaining experience. Also, out of curiosity, how are you finding so many articles to nominate so quickly?
(NB: there is also an NPR request open at PERM.) LittlePuppers (talk) 05:41, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the comment. You're right about it being a bit fast, but I like to say I'm a fast learner and am aware of the notability requirements. I typically go through WP:WikiProject_Unreferenced_articles, look at film festivals (which have a pattern of not having WP:GNG sources), search up deprecated sources. TLA (talk) 05:51, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Not done, again, because you do not meet the requirements. You did not meet the numerical requirements yesterday, and smashing through 500 article-space gnoming edits (so many of which are wrong or unnecessary I stopped looking) does not demonstrate that you understand the notability guidelines. Nor does voting in 161(!!) AFDs in 24 hours. At this point in time I simply don't trust that you have good intentions. Do not come back for a while. Primefac (talk) 07:34, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Completed a one-month new page patrol trial that included AFC rights, where I contributed to several AFC decisions and worked with some authors to improve the article to a standard of notability. Authored over 100 articles and developed 6 articles to a GA standard. Historically have been involved in AfD and PROD discussions and decisions in the WP:VG project space. I'm requesting to become a participant as I sometimes come across AFC nominations when reviewing possible copyright violations over at CopyPatrol and from new users I see at UAA and reviewing when I'm already on the draft makes only sense. I'd also like to participate in backlog drives. I have read and understood the Reviewing instructions. I have a decent understanding of our notability guidelines. User:Mr vili

I have been registered on Wikipedia since 2018, have participated in a number of AfDs historically. I have created and contributed to a number of articles I consider good quality so I am familiar with how to properly source & reference articles. I am very familiar with notability guidlines, including special ones for people, organisations and etc.
As of today, I have hit 509+ live edits.
I have reviewed new pages and nominated bad ones for speedy deletion in the past. I would like to take a kind approach AfCs to help new users become valuable contributors for articles that have potential but are missing certain qualities needed to be on Wikipedia. Mr vili (talk) 23:53, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello, editors! My first article, Rimini Fiera (B-class), went through the AfC process. From this experience, I'm keen to review submitted drafts to help reduce the backlog, and also find some new and interesting articles and topic areas. Finally, as my userpage shows, I'm a keen if niche content expander with a track record of writing B-class entries, and I have a small but good record in AfD discussions (stats). Thank you for your consideration! IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 22:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi there, I would like to help out at AfC. I believe I have a decent understanding of our core policies, such as WP:RS, WP:V, WP:N, and WP:CV, to mention a few, as a content creator here. User:I'm tla

Since my last request, I've created 17 articles (including 10 BLPs), none if which are deleted, and have maintained strong AfD records and refrained from gnoming, well surpassing the edit criteria. Would be happy to chip away the backlog. TLA (talk) 09:18, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) After reading this, I don’t think you have enough experience. You've been advised to take your time, but it looks like you are still rushing through things. – DreamRimmer (talk) 17:59, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for raising that, but there were a few valid concerns with the user, at least from what I think. Also, I feel like that is more of an issue RE: NPP? TLA (talk) 21:09, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
DreamRimmer, are you interpreting that ANI thread as an issue with TLA's knowledge of the deletion policy? (please do not ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 16:56, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
@I'm tla now that the ANI discussion is closed, can you explain why your actions were incorrect along with you moving Civil Service lifeboats (i.e. User talk:I'm tla#The Lifeboat Fund)? Please also verify you have read WP:AFCR. I agree with @DreamRimmer you tend you rush into things without understanding guidelines/the situation so slow down (i.e. read more, ask questions, tread carefully) but I think you are here in AGF. S0091 (talk) 19:02, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
While the ANI article in question was blank, per WP:NPPHOUR, I should have allowed the creator at least an hour to prepare the article. This also applied to Civil Service lifeboats, which I rushed as well. Originally the lede was "The Lifeboat Fund is...." so I thought it would be an uncontroversial page move. So now I know for sure to give time for articles that look fine before any major changes; just helping with categories and some little formatting errors. So while I believe I have strong knowledge of notability requirements, it seems I have some issues with some of the guidelines regarding NPP. This is why I decided to sign up for WP:NPPSCHOOL.
Overall, I'm probably a little too WP:BOLD. But simultaneously, I think tackling these more complicated situations and being non-WP:GNOME gives me a lot more to learn as I plan to edit Wikipedia long-term. I've also begun to spend more time at teahouse asking questions.
AfC, in my opinion, is like NPP-lite as it deals with less things; encyclopedic terms, non-promo, and proper sourcing that supports notability, which is why I believe I was ready to work on it after spending time a month at NPP feed. And yes I have read WP:AFCR. TLA (talk) 20:38, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
@I'm tla thanks for the thoughtful response but just to clarify, the article you moved to draft was not blank. It had an infobox. Blank means literally nothing. Please also do not make any changes to a new article while someone is actively editing it, even to add categories as it creates edit conflicts for the creator. Believe me, it's frustrating to be in the middle of creating an article and loosing an edit you spent 15 minutes on because another editor added categories in the interim or some other minor edit, much less moving the page. Primefac, I don't have an issue with the standard probation period though DreamRimmer might understandably disagree. S0091 (talk) 21:22, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
The ANI thread isn’t the issue here. They have been advised many times to avoid moving any newly created article to draftspace or nominating them for deletion. However, they continue to draftify articles shortly after creation. I noticed this happening again when I saw that ANI thread. – DreamRimmer (talk) 00:49, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
I am fine with them becoming an AfC reviewer, but they should definitely respect the edit history. – DreamRimmer (talk) 00:59, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks DreamRimmer and S0091. I'll refrain from doing any major work from pages made before 2 hours or so is up. TLA (talk) 03:54, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Actually @I'm tla, I am walking back my support given the other perm requests you've made within the same day (Autopatrol and AWB) along with the second NPP Reviewer request made on the 11th. I don't think you are hearing the "slow down" message. You were taken to ANI about you early/improper AfD closures yet in under a month you are back at it. S0091 (talk) 00:12, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
@S0091, I appreciate you caring for Wikipedia's goals in concerns about me acting too fast. But I would say that early AfD closures, don't relate in anyway to Autopatrolled, AWB, and AfC reviewing... (you're right about NPP reviewer I act too fast). None of that clouds my judgement of notability, formatting, and encyclopedic guidelines at all. TLAtlak 00:37, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
@I'm tla it goes to general competence and the ability to take on board what other experienced editors are telling you. All perms require you have gained the trust of the community which takes time. You've only been editing for about two months, have consistently been told to slow down and that some of things you are doing are out-of-process yet you barrel ahead. Primefac or another admin will make their own assessment and may find my concerns are not compelling/compelling enough. Side note - Primefac usually reviews requests on the weekend so it will likely be a few days before they respond. S0091 (talk) 16:38, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
I get it. It comes down to experience, definitely. But I hope it's worthy to consider that at the last ANI, a concern was closing AfDs before 7 days was up, which I haven't repeated since, and not marking "Non-admin closure", which I've marked consistently thanks to the XfD closer gadget. It was also suggested by other editors that I try to do more content creation, rather than just going through NPP feed and voting on AfDs, which I have carried out.
I understand that it may seem like hat collecting, but being an AfC reviewer looks like a great way to demonstrate my understanding of page creation on Wikipedia. I also often see that the backlog gets extremely big and a lot of submissions take weeks, which I can understand would be really annoying for editors waiting on their submissions' results. Same with Autopatrolled, if I remember correctly the backlog was 9K or something which is insane.
When I started article creation, I had a couple declines here and there, but I eventually turned them into acceptances (apart from the Draft:Christopher Slayton article which is ehh debatably notable, so I thought it was a sort of WP:TOOSOON case). Eventually I got comfortable making my articles in the mainspace and it seems I've been relatively successful in that. Anyway, you're right, it comes down to what Primefac assesses. Thanks. TLAtlak 17:08, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

I've largely used my 17 years of experience editing Wikipedia to make "Bold but not reckless" decisions on creating articles myself (often stubs for later expansion), primarily on topics related to spaceflight. I also wish to help those whose draft dont meet the criteria of AFC to improve their draft so that it can. I previously had access to the script but lost use following various bad accepts and declines. I have since participated in AFD with a accuracy rate of 80%. In my time away I improved an article I made to GA and have created an article which was accepted for DYK. And have reviewed five GAN. I have read the reviewing instructions, and I've had help from a few other reviewers on whether to accept an article or not, and I'd love to see whether articles are capable of being on Wikipedia or not. MKsLifeInANutshell (talk) 16:33, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't think they quite yet meet the criteria as they have 482 mainspace edits (473 non-automated) rather than 500. With that said, their last handful or so articles about video games have passed NPP review so appears they are moving in the right direction. A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games, a company, is tagged with issues and I agree it does not meet WP:NCORP and the use of LinkedIn is a little concerning. @MKsLifeInANutshell I think you should move A.C.R.O.N.Y.M to draft to give you time to gather better sources. I also suggest getting some CSD experience and participating in some AfD's. S0091 (talk) 18:01, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
Not done for now. While you do now (or at least, in 1 edit) meet the numerical minima, I am concerned with the number of (fairly) recently-decline drafts. I think a bit more experience will be needed before helping out here. Primefac (talk) 08:00, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

User:Antny08

Hello, I am a Wikipedia user that is interested in helping others improve their articles. I am an extended-confirmed user, and have over 1000 edits on here (some I have deleted). I have created many articles on Wikipedia, and am looking to help others do the same thing. I have never had any action taken against me for violating any rules, because I have not violated any. As an AfC participant, I will use my knowledge of Wikipedia and my skill to accurately, unbiasedly, and efficiently help to review articles to help make Wikipedia a better place. I am an active user and can actively check on articles and help improve them during the drafting process. Thank you for your time!

UPDATE TO APPLICATION: I have throughly reviewed Wikipedia notability guidelines, and countless other guidelines for Wikipedia, so I believe I am fit to review articles. I am fully willing to quickly answer questions from any users. Thank you.

Antny08 (talk) 12:56, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Not done, too many deleted articles and problems at AFD. Primefac (talk) 08:00, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
The deleted articles I have deleted myself except for some, and I have not had problems with AFD, I have only had discussions with people about what is correct and what is not. I ask that you please reconsider, as I believe I am more than fit to be a reviewer. Thank you and have a good day. Antny08 (talk) 13:08, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
For further information, I have only had 6 actually articles deleted. The rest were on talk pages / deleted to clean up space, such as my request for adminship. 3 of the articles I created that have been deleted were deleted by me, either because I realized they were not notable enough, or because of a name misspell (Battle of Namka Chun). The 3 that were deleted by others, 1 of them I was able to recreate. And the final 2 that were deleted by others and I was not able to recreate, were articles I did earlier into my time as a Wikipedia editor. I have not had any "problems" at AFD unless you are considering not agreeing with others on certain decisions as problems. Any mistakes that I have made have shown me not to make those mistakes again and why, and I believe that making these mistakes has given me more knowledge than somebody who never makes any mistakes. Thank you for your time, and I once again ask that you reconsider. Antny08 (talk) 13:15, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
33% success at AFD is a problem. You are correct that the deleted pages are not a significant portion of the pages you have written overall, but I also just found the copyright violation among your deleted pages. This decline is not a "never", just a "not now". Primefac (talk) 08:33, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
That's because according to that it says I have only participated in 3 AfDs (which is incorrect). The one for the List of military engagements of World War II is wrong, I was the one who created the AfD and I wanted it to be merged. It saying that I wanted it to be deleted is an error with the system, so I should have 66% success. Although I have not participated in many AfDs directly, I have viewed countless other AfDs, so I am more familiar with the process than it shows. Antny08 (talk) 11:22, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
A 66% success rate is still very low and a recent copyright violation is an indicator that you are not yet experienced enough for this right.  Not done, please continue to gain experience with AfD and content policies rather than arguing with this decline. Spicy (talk) 14:09, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
The copyright violation was because I was basing the text on an article off of a source I was using. It does not show I am not experienced enough in any way. I realized my mistake and as I stated earlier mistakes help you learn better than not making them in the first place. I recreated the article using my own words and it still up to this day. Having only 1 AfD result turn out against the consensus is not bad. Also note the copyright violation was multiple months ago, in my earlier times on Wikipedia, it is not that recent. Please reconsider. Antny08 (talk) 14:24, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Let me be blunt; you have had two admins tell you that you are not quite ready. I said earlier you were at a "not now". Continuing to insist that you must have access to this tool will very quickly turn that into a "never". Get some more experience, write some more articles, and come back in a couple of months. Primefac (talk) 14:31, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Okay, I will, but I believe I do have a right to argue this decision, which I properly and respectfully did, but I will not comment any further unless asked. Have a good day. Antny08 (talk) 14:39, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

User:Twinkle1990

@Primefac I'm applying again after 9+ months. I'm requesting this for a probationary period of 1-3 weeks to prove my competency. Let it be. If not then how I can prove my competency and efficiency in AfC? Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:36, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
For reference see WT:WikiProject Articles for creation/Archive 53#We need to be more cautious which led to Twinkle1990 being removed. @Twinkle1990 what have you learned since that time and what would do differently? S0091 (talk) 17:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
@S0091 whatever I learned is simple, my old perceptions and doings were wrong. And I don't hesitate to admit that I did wrong. Twinkle1990 (talk) 08:57, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Twinkle1990, could you elaborate a little bit on that? What did you do wrong? Primefac (talk) 08:00, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
I did wrong by rejecting a handful of AfC drafts those were eligible for acceptance. Also, I accepted one draft, which was later deleted by AfD. At that time, I also did wrong by ignoring non-English sourcing. Those were my grave mistake. I have realized it over the time. Twinkle1990 (talk) 09:18, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
@Primefac if you don't give chance for just a few (say 1-2 weeks) just deny my request. Otherwise, give me a chance to prove myself. Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:05, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
The other requests were rather straight-forward. I am still thinking about your answers above. Please be patient. Primefac (talk) 15:12, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
Well. You are free to do so. I will have no hard feelings even if I am denied.--Twinkle1990 (talk) 02:39, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi fellow editors, I would like to be able to review AfC submissions.

I’ve created over 130 articles and one of them is GA. After being active for over a year with near 5000 edits I believe I acquired a decent amount of knowledge regarding Wikipedia's deletion policy which is evidenced by my contributions. Thank you for your attention. V.B.Speranza (talk) 21:58, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

I am an experienced Wikipedian with an extensive record of article creations and other contributions over an 18-year period (>50,000 edits, >300 articles created). I have recently started exploring the AfC space and have noticed some promising drafts in areas of my particular expertise, which I would like to bring to article space and improve. I would expect my future reviewing activity to be focused on the same general areas. I am on Wikipedia every day and can commit to responding to queries promptly. I'm requesting AFC helper script rights as I currently participate in recent changes/new pages patrolling and AfDs, and would like to contribute to the project further.
I've read the reviewer criteria and believe I meet them:
  • Experience in the quick-fail criteria review step from work on speedy deletions, vandalism patrols.
  • Experience in the notability and verifiability review step from participation in AfDs and my general editing/page creation.
  • Experience in the suitability review step through my own article creation, DYK submissions and general editing history. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 11:19, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
