This article was rejected because the reviewer claimed that the article reads more like an advertisement for the person than an impartial article. If you look at the article you can see that the information about the subject is backed up by scores of sources including the NYT, LAT, CBS, ABC, and more. The fact is, this person is a major national figure in criminal rehabilitation, and the information about her is impartial and backed up with legitimate sources.

While I was indeed asked to create this page by the organization she heads, I did so with care for Wikipedia's standards, and I spent hours getting the style and formatting correct. To be summarily dismissed with what I feel is an invalid assessment of the impartiality is extremely frustrating. I would be fine if the reviewer had minor issues and changed them to his satisfaction, but to reject the whole thing like that is completely disrespectful of the time and energy I put in.

You have done well getting the style and formatting right. But almost all of your draft is blatantly promotional, telling the reader what a wonderful person you think she is. Instead, it should provide facts: when she was born (if this is known), what country she lives in, and what she actually does. This is not a minor issue; and even if it were, it is not the reviewer's responsibility to fix it. Maproom (talk) 08:06, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I recently created a the 'Education for Nature - Vietnam' Wikipedia page. There's now a notice on the page saying, "This article reads like a news release, or is otherwise written in an overly promotional tone. Please help by either rewriting this article from a neutral point of view or by moving this article to Wikinews. When appropriate, blatant advertising may be marked for speedy deletion with {{db-spam}}. (August 2015)"

I've cited a large number of independent sources to verify the facts of the article, but understand the objection about the tone being slightly too promotional. I'm happy to edit the article and attempt to fix this (I have no desire for Wikipedia to become a promotional tool!), but had a quick question first. If I discuss ENV's achievements and programs in a neutral tone, is this acceptable? Or does the problem relate to content too?

FoCuSandLeArN reviewed my draft page and stated: This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule.

I have read the guidelines and read that: Wikipedia bases its decision about whether an organization is notable enough to justify a separate article on the verifiable evidence that the organization or product has attracted the notice of reliable sources unrelated to the organization or product My draft article had 14 references of which, 12 were external. Nine of these were, I felt, separate - but as a lot of the pages are 'member' only pages I guess it makes them unverifiable - is this the case?

If I managed to get Insurance Age and Insurance Times to make these articles reviewable would this make a significant difference?

11:17:18, 10 August 2015 review of submission by Deselliers[edit]


I want to make several major changes to the existing article Le Peuple (Brussels). I made the changes in my sandbox and, when satisfactory, I submitted it for review. However, it seems that the system understood that I want to change the redirection page Le Peuple (which should actually become a disambiguation page). I guess I did something wrong. @Ngallagher1988: I've done the first one for you. Instead of putting the text of the citation in the references section, embed it in the body of the article, between <ref> and </ref> tags. I'm writing today to know if it is possible for a wiki user to see a declined article submission?

I submitted an article about one month ago concerning the fine art photographer, Adam Marelli. Unfortunately, the article was declined. However, one month later the subject, Adam Marelli, was contacted on his public Facebook page by someone claiming to have seen his recently declined article submission. Said person was offering their services to help get a successful resubmission.

Has anything like this ever happened before? Is it possible said person soliciting services could have been a wiki editor that reviewed the original submission?

Is there something we can do to prevent this type of scenario from occurring again in the future - specifically on our resubmission of the article? Is there a way to report the person that claimed to see the declined worked and solicited their services?

Hello,

I'm writing today to inform you of an incident that occurred as a result of an article I submitted about 1 month ago concerning the artist/photographer, Adam Marelli. Unfortunately, the article was declined. However, one month later the subject, Adam Marelli, was contacted on his public Facebook page by someone by the name of Tamsin Kendra; she/he claimed to have seen Adam's recently declined article submission and preceded to offer their services to help secure a successful resubmission.

I recently submitted a follow up question pertaining to this case to the Teahouse, as my previous inquiry to this help desk page resulted in a separate thread that did not relate to this issue. In the teahouse, I was told to report this case as this is not the first time this type of scenario has occurred.

My goal for this note is twofold in action: 1. To find out if there are ways to prevent or at least reduce the chances of something like this happening again? Recommendations and suggestions are welcomed. 2. To report Tamsin Kendra for unethical (frowned upon) conduct in the Wikipedia community

We enjoy celebrating the Wikipedia community and want nothing more than to uphold its high standards of integrity.
