September 2023[edit]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Keswick School, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 06:13, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've removed the information about school uniforms as the guidelines say this should not usually be included - see WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 09:05, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thats fair Yourlocalmackem (talk) 11:38, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Football club[edit]

You first hurdle is WP:N. Existing is not enough, for a WP-article to be accepted, you must have (and cite, see WP:TUTORIAL) reliable published sources (WP:RS) that are at the same time independent of the subject and about the subject in some detail. This excludes blogs, wikis, the club's own websites etc etc. What are the best 3-5 such sources you can think of? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:35, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The FAs website is the best source I can think of, I'll look for more Yourlocalmackem (talk) 13:06, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Yourlocalmackem, I do quite a bit of football editing so I might be able to help. What is the name of the football club? Most English clubs that meet our notability requirements will already have an article as this is a very popular area for editors. MarchOfTheGreyhounds 13:18, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is called Keswick FC. I know, not the greatest of teams but I believe if local rivals Penrith AFC have a page, it is only fair that Keswick FC also do. Yourlocalmackem (talk) 13:25, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is, unfortunately, not a good article atm, and would perhaps be deleted if someone suggested it. WP is a strange place, and in 2006, when that article was started, "rules" were slacker. There are many areas on WP that don't get a lot of attention, and such articles can stick around for a long time. It's also possible that there are excellent sources about Penrith A.F.C., but nobody has been arsed to add them. More at WP:OTHERCONTENT. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:35, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be the case, by the looks of it they have a canny history Yourlocalmackem (talk) 13:41, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's unlikely Keswick FC would qualify for their own page. They play in the Cumberland County League which I believe is at level 13 or lower in the English pyramid. I also can't find much significant news coverage about the team.
The article for Penrith AFC is really badly sourced and may not survive if made today. But it was presumed to have notability at the time it was made because Penrith play at a bit of a higher level, so qualify to play in the FA Cup qualifiers (this is normally the case for teams at tier 10 and above in England).
Unfortunately, I think it's a non-starter for Keswick FC on this occasion. MarchOfTheGreyhounds 13:37, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well, worth a try😄 Yourlocalmackem (talk) 13:39, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This [1] is something, but not enough. The club is at least mentioned at Keswick,_Cumbria#Sport. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:43, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And even Cumberland Football Association is not very good. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:46, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
