New job class articles[edit]

Welcome to the project! I notice that you've created a new article for the Gambler job class. You may find Final Fantasy character classes interesting. It's a list of the job classes found in FF games that was created as a catch-all for all of the job classes. Gunner and Gambler should be added there. Several months ago, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Final Fantasy/Sub-projects/Jobs, it was decided by consensus that most job classes are not notable enough to merit their own articles and should only be placed in that list. Several of the members of that sub-project dropped out of it, saving only myself, and all I've been able to do was add the merge template to most of the job classes (see, for example, Bard (Final Fantasy). I am currently on a self-imposed Wikibreak but I do plan to complete the work of merging all the information back into the main article, including your two new articles. I'm very sorry, because I understand that you've done a lot of work on this new article, but Wikipedia is starting to crack down hard on a lot of excess information about video games (see Wikipedia is not a game guide) and we're trying to reel in the amount of cruft we have in the project as a result.  :( However, I would really welcome your help on the sub-project I linked above, as I've been the only person working there for some time and an extra set of hands to perform some of the discussed tasks would be really helpful.

Please don't take the merge tags personally. I do know you've done a lot of work, and it won't be ignored. We'll move most of the information to the character class list. If you'd like to do it yourself that would be really great, but otherwise I can take care of it when I'm back from my Wikibreak.

If you need any help with anything around Wikipedia, please feel free to leave a note with me at my talk page. Again, I really do apologize for this. -RaCha'ar 19:08, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Do you think you could please read my message and the links I gave you before you continue to add new job class articles? I'd really appreciate a discussion with you and some feedback before I start adding the merge template willy-nilly to your new articles. Thanks. -RaCha'ar 04:10, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. Let me explain about the character classes. We are adding classes to the Final Fantasy character classes list article instead of adding new, separate character class articles. Please read Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Final Fantasy/Sub-projects/Jobs to see the discussion we had before about this. While I agree that certain job classes have been left out, if you also read the talk page for the character class list article, you'll see that the general consensus was that classes like Morpher, Engineer, Gunner, and Gambler were decided to not have appeared frequently enough to merit mention in the article. Wikipedia has recently taken a turn towards getting rid of information that would be better suited to places like the Final Fantasy Wiki, which is a sentiment I can't really argue with. We at the WPFF have been trying to merge and delete content where appropriate so that someone else doesn't come in and do it for us when they decide we have too much extraneous information. With your help, I'd like to move the content of the Gambler article you have written to the main character class article. We can start discussion there again about some of the other job classes that don't have a mention yet; however, I believe the general consensus is that if a job class doesn't appear in more than a couple of games, it's not notable enough to merit a mention. Perhaps we could throw in a bit at the end of the main character class list about the other jobs, such as Morpher and Engineer, that appear very rarely. Thanks very much for working with me on this! :D -RaCha'ar 18:18, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:CrawlerFFXI.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CrawlerFFXI.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Recent additions[edit]

Hi, we try to keep information very concise and succinct on Wikipedia. Lists of magic spells and so on, such as Black Magic (Final Fantasy), is considered unencyclopedic. Also, some of the minor character class/creature articles you have made should be merged into their respective lists. I'll take care of this, but this is just a heads up about how we handle things here. You might be interested in The Final Fantasy Wikia. Thanks! — Deckiller 20:50, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As per Deckiller's comments above, I've redirected White Magic (Final Fantasy) to Final Fantasy magic as well. As I suggested a little while ago, you might also like to take a look at WikiProject Final Fantasy and work with all of us on improving Wikipedia's FF articles. Thanks! -RaCha'ar 21:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warcraft AfDs[edit]

I would like to redirect you to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Warcraft character articles. Could you please voice your opinion on this, as it will sett precedence for what to do with articles like this. Havok (T/C/c) 06:57, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed to me that this article could be considered fancruft. That is why I wanted to community to evaluate its notability. Sparsefarce 17:38, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding edits made during September 30 2006 to Final Fantasy Summons[edit]

It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from an article. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. Notes: Please read the AFD: "Feel free to edit the article, but the article must not be blanked" 1568 05:50, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think your list got deleted. I only check up on ZOE from time to time. It really needs more attention though.--D-Boy 07:41, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I've just redirected your new Snail-stub template to the long-established {{Mollusc-stub}}. Please, if you have a suggestion for a new stub type, propose it first at WP:WSS/P, as suggested at Wikipedia:Stub. Stub types are debated prior to creation to check that they aren't already covered by other stub types and are of a viable size. In this case, snails are already covered, and - with only 180 stubs - Category:Mollusc stubs is not at a stage where it needs splitting into subcategories like this. Changing IP addresses[edit]

Hi! Thanks for asking your question to me. I am not the most technical person, so I do not have an answer to your question. However, I asked your question here at the Wikipedia help desk. Keep checking back there over the next few days to see if you get an answer. If you don't get one, let me know and I'll do some investigating into your problem. :-) Imaninjapiratetalk to me 22:16, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image tagging for Image:JehutyZOE2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JehutyZOE2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Good Job[edit]

I have taken a look at some of your edits and I think that you are a pretty good editor besides all the copyright problems you have had. You seem to do a lot of work with expanding articles and downloading and adding pictures to them. Just to let you know I understand copyright laws are a pain. Have a nice week and god bless you and everyone you know. :) --James, La gloria è a dio 02:32, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:UltimaWeaponFFX&X2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:UltimaWeaponFFX&X2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tellyaddict 17:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images[edit]

Copyrighted images that are being used under "fair use" cannot be kept if they are not being used in the encyclopedia articles. The two Bangaa images have been removed from the article you added them to, a sign that they really are not needed. I can't think of any articles in which these articles would be appropriate.

Furthermore, these "fair use" images technically are not supposed to be used on user pages at all. --- RockMFR 01:51, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and removed the fair use images from your user page and tagged them appropriately. Please check your upload logs and add a fair use rationale to any other images that are missing rationales. --- RockMFR 20:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BahamutX&X-2whole.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BahamutX&X-2whole.jpg. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

The topic is not notable. It does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. This information is in orbital frame.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Cyclops (Orbital Frame), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Orphaned non-free media (Image:NephtisZOE2.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NephtisZOE2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:UserFF[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:UserFF requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 22:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Microcosmus sabatieri[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Microcosmus sabatieri, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Microcosmus sabatieri. Nice Work.[edit]

Seriously, your user page is literally riddled with CSD template warnings, and i can't spot even one compliment for the work you are doing. I noticed that you nicely categorized and cleaned the Geosesarma i tagged earlier. Looking trough your history, your doing quite the job making pages nicer. Keep up the good work! :) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 08:25, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Short articles[edit]

Hi. Please don't create such short articles along the lines of "a" is a type of "b." Hoping to see this expanded. Thanks. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 21:26, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please disregard my last comment. You've made a nice stub out of it and I should have assumed you'd do so. Sorry about the mix-up. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plant stubs[edit]

Hi there! I've noticed your plant-related contributions, especially in the genera Datura and Sorbus. I just had a couple suggestions and a request. First, the genus name is always italicized, so "X is a species of Datura", not "X is a species of Datura". Also, per WP:HEAD, the external links section should have a lowercase l, such as "External links" not "External Links". And a request: I've noticed you've linked to the external site, zipcodezoo in a few articles. I've removed it on site because it is an awful reference and source. Please do not trust the information it presents! It is by no means authoritative and serious errors have been located in the past. Instead, try to use some of the resources listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants/Resources. Thanks! --Rkitko (talk) 03:22, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few more requests for you, if you might humor me. As is the case here, please be mindful of spelling, verb tense, pluralization, and capitalization. Your attention to these details would be appreciated. Thanks! --Rkitko (talk) 23:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Starwinder[edit]

The article Starwinder has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • It appeared to be a web game, and speedy category a7 does apply to websites. If you can find sources showing that this site is notable per WP:WEB, feel free to repost (with the sources). NawlinWiki (talk) 21:13, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Maybe you should just add a line to the GameSpot page, then. Again, you would need to find a reliable independent source showing that this particular game is notable before giving it its own page. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:15, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • No, the official site is not an *independent* source. I mean news coverage, CNet, and the like. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Starwinder, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 21:56, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I applied the speedy tag because there wasn't nearly enough context to properly identify the game, nor enough content to comprise a decent encyclopedia article. I see that you've been adding more material (helpful hint: it's better to use the "Show preview" button to review your changes rather than to keep saving and creating dozens of versions), but in the end I'll likely leave the decision of whether or not to delete the article up to an administrator. Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks. --Finngall talk 22:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Starwinder. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. --Finngall talk 22:39, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wargamesdefcon1cover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Wargamesdefcon1cover.jpg. Non-free rationale for File:Darwin4081cover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Darwin4081cover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. Proposed deletion of Haliclona sp.[edit]

The article Haliclona sp. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Species is likely one of the below listed species. No way to determine which from the given source. Not sure if the source given is reliable. If a reliable source can be found and if the exact species can be identified, keep, otherwise delete and try again.
  • Haliclona spiculotenuis (Topsent, 1891)
  • Haliclona spinosella (Row, 1911)
  • Haliclona spinosella (Thiele, 1905)
  • Haliclona spitzbergensis (Hentschel, 1916)
  • Haliclona spongiosissima (Topsent, 1908)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
