Your submission at Articles for creation[edit]

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ukwulu. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> The Book of Chzz, Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Okechukwu Oku, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Igbo. Hello Pastor. I was recently appointed the lead coordinator of Wikipedia:WikiProject Nigeria. My first task is to ensure long-standing editors like yourself identify with the WikiProject more frequently. Please add yourself to the the section for participants here. On a softer note, thanks for uploading an image for Chioma Akpotha, I have been trying to get images on her for some time now so I can use on the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role article. Please if you can get images for Clarion Chukwura, kindly upload so that all Nigerian actresses that have won AMAA will have photos in the page. Regards. More importantly, please remember to join the participants list. HandsomeBoy (talk) 23:00, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article ǼLEX has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Despite the claims of importance, this is not a notable outfit per NCORP; these mentions by Chambers and some Who's Who don't add up to much.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your new article Lisa Omorodion[edit]

Hi Pastorflex, I saw your new article on Lisa Omorodion. In the description for the image you added to the article, you stated in the source that "Part of a Photoshoot i did of Lisa". Please can you shed more light on this? Were you employed by her to take the shoot? While I think she passes WP:NACTOR based on the films she has starred in, I think it might be necessary to declare any possible link you have with her in the talkpage for reference purposes. Great job you are doing working on expanding articles central to WikiProject Nigeria. Regards. HandsomeBoy (talk) 20:35, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello HandsomeBoy (talk), the photoshoot referred to was done at a premiere for a movie, I do freelance photography, which is why I have a lot of photographs of Nigerian celebrities at my disposal. So I have no personal link with Ms Omorodion. Pastorflex (talk) 06:15, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:14, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Pastorflex. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:44, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pastorflex Can you please explain how nearly every article you've created or contributed to significantly contains a photo you claim as your own work, mostly professional photoshoots and yet in the many years you've been editing, you've not made one single COI declaration? Praxidicae (talk) 17:06, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • :Praxidicae hello, I work in the news/entertainment industry in Nigeria. Occasionally I have the opportunity to meet notable personalities and as a Wikipedia enthusiast, I seek to improve their articles and so I take pictures and search for reportage to improve their pages. I also do professional shoots or if I am involved in their photoshoot, I ask if I can take a picture for my projects at no cost. I do not believe that this is a conflict of interest as I am not paid for the edits and why would I not disclose that information on the first place? File permission problem with File:Olufemi Oguntamu.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Olufemi Oguntamu.jpg, which you've attributed to MIDE WEY STUDIOS (see metadata); also, not photographed with a Canon as claimed. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Huon (talk) 17:00, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

:Huon hello,I will ask that midey wey sends the email requested. I actually took the picture at the end of the shoot with his camera that's why it carries his metadata, and asked him to send it to me, which is why it's tagged as own work. I hope this suffices. I didn't take note of the camera make and assumed it was a Canon, which is what I tagged. Pastorflex (talk) 08:47, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See below and Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2019 April 10#File:Omowumi in 2019.jpg. You wrote: "Photographed with my Canon 5D" - that apparently is wrong and you meant to say, "Photographed with Mide Wey's camera, whatever that was"? Taking photos with other photograpers' cameras seems to be something of a hobby of yours. And I really, really don't see how you can claim File:Chioma Wives on Strike.jpg as your own work. Huon (talk) 09:04, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Huon hello, it's not a hobby, but i some times use other people's phone cameras and digital cameras which have better resolutions than mine,its common practice where I'm from, using other people's cameras, with a view to sending the pictures later, it's a favor i have done for several people as well. The photo File:Chioma Wives on Strike.jpg is from the set of "Wives on Strike", an acquaintance Omoni Oboli's movie, who i was interviewing for a blog article. I asked to take selfies with some of the cast, as is the normal case, people would collect the phones and take selfies from different angles and i decided to update China Akpotha's page with the picture from the set. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Huon (talk) 17:10, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
File:DeyemiTheActor.jpg says the author is Ed Ace. File:Olufemi_Oguntamu.jpg says the author and copyright holder is Mide Wey (respectively his studio). You claimed to have taken File:Sobe Umeh Charles.jpg with your Canon but the metadata says it was a Samsung. File:Ken Erics on the Guitar.jpg was previously published here. It's obvious that despite your explicit claims you do not own the copyright for many, possibly all, of the images you uploaded. Huon (talk) 17:27, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also worth noting: File:Chioma Wives on Strike.jpg is uploaded as own work, and it's a selfie of the subject in the article which it appears, File:Lisa Omorodion.jpg is uploaded as own work under the name Anny Robert, File:SamuelAjibola1.jpg is uploaded as own work, copyright holder is Deji Akinpelu and meta data author says Babasola Bamiro, File:RobertPetersonSet.jpg comes from the same series posted here.Praxidicae (talk) 18:32, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I work in the news/entertainment industry in Nigeria. Occasionally I have the opportunity to meet notable personalities and as a Wikipedia enthusiast, I seek to improve their articles and so I take pictures and search for reportage to improve their pages. I also do professional shoots or if I am involved in their photoshoot, I take photos of them for my project with their permission and at no cost. Sometimes, I may use my device or someone else's phone or camera that I feel is more powerful than mine to get a better picture. I was not aware that I needed to get permission for such work, if so, going forward I promise to do so, as I feel this is a big misunderstanding. Pastorflex (talk) 08:57, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This absolutely does not convince me you own the copyright for all the items you've uploaded. I strongly believe the only plausible explanation is you've been uploading other people's images. Yamla (talk) 11:50, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Yamla it's unfortunate that you have come to that conclusion, which is unfortunately not true. I have been involved in editing on wikipedia articles for a long time and have even encouraged lots of other editors to come on board. Suffice to say, I haven't been uploading other people's images, only pictures i took personally or sanctioned a proxy to take for me or used someone else's phone or camera to take, which is common practice where i am from. Going forward, i would have to be more specific when citing sources of the images, especially when it comes to meta data. A lot of times i would not take into consideration the cameras used or the phones, etc. This on my part, i take responsibility for, but i do not belie i posted any images that i do not have the rights for.Pastorflex (talk) 13:10, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This is simply not how copyright or metadata work. Praxidicae (talk) 13:55, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Banke Meshida Lawal[edit]

Hello Pastorflex,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Banke Meshida Lawal for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Your draft article, Draft:Adebayo Osinowo[edit]

Hello, Pastorflex. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Adebayo Osinowo".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Liz Read! Talk! 21:04, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

Requests for uncreated articles[edit]

Greetings & a great weekend to you all. I believe it would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016. I believe this would be pivotal to the encyclopedia as a whole & a means to get editors who have gone inactive to revive their Wikipedia activities. Sent by Celestina007. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Olufemi Oguntamu, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. The file File:Media Panache Logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Uploaded for Media Panache Nigeria. No other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
