Orphaned non-free media (Image:Anne profilepics3.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne profilepics3.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:19, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree Image:ANNE4-4.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:ANNE4-4.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:New_anne.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:New_anne.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 23:38, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Csheppard1. I urge you to join in the above discussion. It is our impression that people from your company have never responded to any requests for dialog about these articles. If you continue to ignore regular contributors who want to discuss your work, it is possible you will be blocked from editing. EdJohnston (talk) 15:56, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have now read the conflict of interest pages and am fully aware of the practice- I have recently been blocked, and i apologize for not responding sooner--i am new at this! The company was looking to update pages and get all the info we could onto the apges, in doing so, we pulled info from compnay profiles and such which have bias tendancies, i will rewrite these articles with a more general approach to the language. please unblock me!

Speedy deletion of Sullivan Entertainment[edit]

A tag has been placed on Sullivan Entertainment requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Want to have a sandbox version of Sullivan Entertainment?[edit]

Hello Csheppard1. I'm afraid you may be getting into a downward spiral of violations of Wikipedia policies. It is against the rules for you to remove a deletion tag from Sullivan Entertainment, an article that you created yourself. If you are interested in working on a conformant version of this article, I can move it into your user space. You will then be able to make improvements at your leisure without risking further deletions. Let me know if you are agreeable to this. EdJohnston (talk) 18:51, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem: Sullivan Entertainment[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Sullivan Entertainment, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.maximusfilmproductions.com/viewEvent.aspx?x=u3z1Xi9goeNfs%2f%2f4WSVRUVe34E6eT4qdPuC1Y2EEOobG8l89SjM%2baJbjy6RsLFPo, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Sullivan Entertainment and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or that the material is released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Sullivan Entertainment with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Sullivan Entertainment.

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at Talk:Sullivan Entertainment/Temp. Leave a note at Talk:Sullivan Entertainment saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:44, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to add as a personal addition to the "form letter" above that I see you assert a connection to the company at the article's talk page. In order for us to use material from the company, we need external verification of permission by one of the processes above. Please see WP:Permission for more detail. Lacking verification of permission, the material will need to be deleted. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to let me know. I am watching your talk page and the article's talk page. You may also reach me at my own talk page by following the link behind my username. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

September 2008[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 12 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for Being a spam/advertising account. Please stop. You are welcome to make useful contributions after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

The block will be lifted if you respond here and agree to follow Wikipedia rules about the proper content for articles. See WP:5P for our policies. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 13:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I am unsure of why i was blocked in the first place, i have been hired by Sullivan Entertaniment to contribute the wikipedia site, i need to be allowed to post information! I am working thorugh the copyrighting issue, please allow me to continue working}}

  • Question Have you read this section on your talk page? Wikipedia's contributors have attempted to discuss the issue of conflict of interest editing with you, but evidently you have not responded. You were advised two days ago that you might be blocked from editing if you did not discuss the matter. It seems your block stems from that. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:07, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I have read the conflict of interest pages, I'm new at this, so i'm trying to get the ahng of everything-what is acceptable and not-i will take the offending material off the page and replace with more unbiased materials- i just need to be unblocked to continue}}

Hello Csheppard1.
  1. Please answer my previous question (above) on whether you are willing to work on a special copy of Sullivan Entertainment that would be set up in your user space.
  2. Please agree that you will not add any more material that violates copyright until you have taken the official steps to get the copyright cleared with the Wikimedia Foundation.
  3. We want you to agree to respond to editors who leave messages for you on your Talk page. Do not continue to edit an article after its problems have been drawn to your attention, unless you discuss first.
Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 14:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I would definitly be willing to oblige to all of the stipulations above--as i said, i'm new at this and its taking some time to get used to everything. How do i set up my new Sullivan page in my space? and how will it replace the old page? I will take some time to figure out the copyrighting information--but i've found it particularly complicated so i hope to get it right! please allow me to continue---}}.

The larger issue[edit]

A large amount of copyvio and inappropriately promotional material has been added to Sullivan Productions-related articles by Csheppard1's colleagues. I'd like to suggest that removing that material, or bringing those editors into the discussion, is part of this unblock discussion. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 15:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am under the impression that if i have rights to these pictures, i can use them (such as screenshots, movie covers etc) is this not correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Csheppard1 (talkcontribs)
I'm referring to the recently added sections on Anne of Green Gables merchandise and books. Much of that is direct cut and paste from Sullivan websites and elsewhere. I assume since you are employed by Sullivan you are able to communicate with the other editors listed in the WP:COIN discussion linked above? Also, please indent your replies with colons, and sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 15:23, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Agreed to conditions

I can see that this is a much bigger job than when i started just trying to 'update' information---i will be taking it more seriously and will start to retrack and rewrite some of the information i have posted. I will take the steps to fix things---let me know when you have issues so i am aware and so i can try to understand how to fix them! Csheppard1 (talk) 15:42, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll start removing some of the most egregious examples, now that we've got some more eyes on these articles. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 15:46, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could you let me know which items get deleted and changed so i can keep some documentation to go back to---i have to keep track of everything! And i want the info to be correct/accurate so--like i said i want to go back and start the rewrite prcoess. thanks for your patience and help! Csheppard1 (talk) 15:53, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox version[edit]

Hello Csheppard1. We will move the existing article on Sullivan Entertainment to a new location at User:Csheppard1/Sullivan Entertainment. You can work on it there. When you are finished working on it, and we are sure it conforms with policy, one of us will restore it as a regular article. Will you agree to that? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 15:21, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutly! thank you very much! I will let you know when i've completed it. Am I unblocked now? because it still wont let me start that new page in my userpages.

You should be unblocked. Is it working now? I have moved the article as above, but I've also removed the material for which we do not yet have verification of permission. Please review the directions for verifying permission, here. If you have questions about the process, please let me know. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:45, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Csheppard1. I think I cleared the autoblock #1126749. Please try editing again. EdJohnston (talk) 15:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Overlinking your employer, Kevin Sullivan[edit]

Please read MOS:LINK. Terms like Kevin Sullivan should generally only be linked once in an article, even if Kevin Sullivan appears many times. That means you should stop linking every instance of Kevin Sullivan, if Kevin Sullivan appears more than once in an article related to Kevin Sullivan. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 18:57, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I will make those corrections.

Speedy deletion of Small Crew Productions[edit]

Blocked[edit]

It's pretty clear that you have no intention of stopping your promotion of your employer's business, and it's also likely that you and Mschwartz311 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) are either one and the same or working for the same firm to the same ends. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Avonlea Aerial shot.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Avonlea Aerial shot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
