The article Andy Yurkanin has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. July 2013[edit]

Hello Chuckflood, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society‎ has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Singularity42 (talk) 17:11, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary with every edit. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! Singularity42 (talk) 17:13, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Andy Yurkanin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Singularity42 (talk) 17:51, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Yurkanin[edit]

I don't see any "contest" button. And the page appears to have already been deleted. Why? --Chuckflood (talk) 22:46, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MGTPS page[edit]

Tell me this: if the Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society page is not acceptable, then what about the New England Antiquities Research Association page??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NEARA. I modeled my prototype MGTPS page after NEARa - virtually identical except NEARA has a References section. Is that all it takes or what is going on?

I am finding it absolutely impossible to get anything done because no sooner do I create a page and start to populate it than someone come along and deletes it. Do you really expect absolute perfection in published pages? --Chuckflood (talk) 22:44, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Replied on my talk page (best to keep the conversation in one place to make it easier to follow). Singularity42 (talk) 22:59, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society[edit]

Hi, I'm Yakikaki. Chuckflood, thanks for creating Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Interesting topic! It would be great if you could expand the article and include inline citations. Thank you for your contributions.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Yakikaki (talk) 15:47, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction[edit]

Wouldn't it be fun to introduce yourself to the community first by creating your own profile and saying what your interests here are. That helps ! Best, Krenakarore TK 16:33, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good point; I will do so. A week into wikipedia and my head is still spinning. As for the MGTPS page, thank you for what you added. But I am working on a longer article and will be moving the reference to John DeHaas into a section that discusses the Boveys and Virginia City and how the society grew out of that effort. It would be nice if we don't step on each other's toes. BTW are you a member? --Chuckflood (talk) 16:40, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Chuckflood, your head is fine and so is mine. Yes, I know you're writing, not copying, explaining, not dictating. I'm a user in a free encyclopedia where everyone can edit. So you're not stepping on my toes, you're simply adding, sharing, summoning, expanding... yourself...:) ! Krenakarore TK 17:09, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
