Hi I did put square brackets round references to my works and the underlined web links to my published papers and books, following Wiki instructions. Can anyone make them live again so it is not deleted as I have failed for ages? thanks A AnnQoLAge (talk) 21:00, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Hi Kleukse how do I reply to you only? Hi yes it is just a brief bio like those of my academic colleagues following the same style. I have got a copy in my sandbox using WIKI inserts to cit/auto/insert my references now. Well I am an internationally recognised academic research specialist on quality of life and ageing but how do I convince you. You could jusdt put my name into Google4 and see. I would never write a long article about myself for Wiki - as said this is just a short academic bio like those of my colleagues on the site. Advice welcome. What category should I use for upload then and I'll move the copy in my Sandbox with the citations inserted auto? Thank you A AnnQoLAge (talk) 22:15, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Furicorn I can't find your new page now but if needed later after review, if you open this link to my journal paper on quality of life, at the bottom of the page are metrics which state it was referenced in one policy report – which is the policy report I gave you = the 2015 report of the Chief Medical Officer.  This is just in case you later want a link to verify a policy report reference to my research on quality of life further.

Headshot copyright situation and some questions[edit]

Hi there, it's me again. I went ahead and moved your bio into the main article space, I just got tired of waiting for someone else to review it. I wanted to put up a picture of you if that's all right, and I was wondering if you could figure out with your institution what the licensing situation is of the photo on your staff bio page? Specifically, I want to know if it's ok with them (or you if you both own the copyright) to upload the photo with a creative commons by-sa license? Additionally,I was filling out {{Infobox academic}} and was able to fill out some information, but I was hoping you could help out where possible with some of the blanks. I did some asking around, and the best way for us to be able to use your faculty headshot on wikipedia is to have either the photographer or the head of the university use the interactive release generator at this page [1]. Dear Furicon Thank you so much again, have been away this week. I supplied the photo to Southampton, it is not their's, so you do not need their permission to use it but tell me how to upload my jpg of it please and how to insert electronic signature file as requested at the end of your questions, and websites (university of southampton my staff page as Wikki won't paste it?). I will answer each question below at the side of each - some are too intrusive like relatives names but I don't have any close relatives anyway (and I do not like having to state whether I have a spouse or children, do I have to?).your advice welcome again please.Thanks.

I did some asking around, and the best way for us to be able to use your faculty headshot on wikipedia is to have either the photographer or the head of the university use the interactive release generator at this page [1]. I await for advice on photo and signature etc uploads, and sorry answers were split above, and thank you again BW A AnnQoLAge (talk) 22:46, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnnQoLAge: Thank you for all your responses, of course you don't need to answer anything that you feel is too intrusive. I did not intend to pressure you to answer any questions you don't feel comfortable answering, so my apologies if it came across that way. I just listed all the possible information points the template could handle. I've already gone ahead and updated the page except with the information about your parents - I can add that if you want me to, but only if you want me to because it's absolutely optional.
With regards to your photo, that's great to hear that it's yours! Can you give the Upload Wizard a shot? You just need to upload it from your computer and follow the steps (make sure to select "This is my own work"). -Furicorn (talk) 00:41, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, don't worry about the header on your page about the too long intro. It's just a style complaint that someone else may fix down the line. -Furicorn (talk) 00:53, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again Furicorn, and sorry, I thought the answers were 'compulsory' for wikki. I uploaded the photo and clicked my own work. Ann Bowling 2010 head and shoulders Gt Georges UoLME06654-1.jpg

Can my own electronic signature be optional rather than the public seeing it please? Or does it mean I insert the Wikki signature?

Thank you so much, just one tiny correction My board membership as associate Editor of International Journal of Aging and Human Development was also former in case it continues to show as current. So please can (formerly) be inserted after it also, thanks. I had a go and failed. AAnnQoLAge (talk) 09:40, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Furicorn I just re-uploaded the photo (as 1st photo I uploaded had my ID in the label) this time without my ID and it is labelled Ann Bowling head and shoulders for websites. I don't know how to delete the 1st one but this 2nd upload is the one to link with. I didn't state any catagories. Thank you again.

Thanks for uploading! You can now use these files on wikis, or link to them on the web. Ann Bowling head shoulders for websites.jpg To use the file in a wiki, copy this text into a page: A AnnQoLAge (talk) 10:06, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading, I found the photo and added it to the page, and tried to make all the changes you mentioned. The signature is optional, sorry for any confusion about that. Pretty much all the fields were optional, I think I did a bad job communicating this. So again, I hope you did not share information you were uncomfortable doing so. Also there were some items that didn't behave the way I expected them to based on the template documentation, so I adjusted them (birth location and residence). Take a look and see if the information looks good, and if there's anything that on second thought, you'd rather not share. -Furicorn (talk) 02:37, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Furicorn, you've been brilliant all through, just my lack of experience here to blame. Thank you. AAnnQoLAge (talk) 22:20, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked it and a huge thank you again, you've written that brilliantly - just 2 corrections to make can you take out the two references to 'statistics' under Work please:'Bowling's main work has focused on research and policy regarding quality of life in older age, and statistical methods in public health. She authored widely cited textbooks on statistical and research methods in public health...' Instead of the 1st 'statistical' please insert 'research' instead, and just delete the 2nd 'statistical and'. I am not a statistician and my books on methods were just research methods. Thanks - do let me know if I make sense. AAnnQoLAge (talk) 22:34, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

PPS Dear Furicorn Just spotted an error which is all my fault - Under the brief 'Years active' entry I misinterpreted the question, so it needs correcting from 1995 to present to to 1978 to present as 1978 was when I started as an active, employed researcher. Apologies.

To correct Years active 1995 to present to years active 1978 to present.

OK? Thanks A AnnQoLAge (talk) 22:45, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AnnQoLAge: Ok, should be all corrected now. -Furicorn (talk) 23:12, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Furicorn That was so quick thank you. Sorry but I see a minor correction is needed where you put: 'Bowling was a member of editorial board and is now the Associate Editor at International Journal of Aging and Human Development....' Can you change the sentence please just to 'Bowling has been a member of various editorial boards 'including formerly' Associate Editor (can you change at to of here too please) International Journal of Aging and Human Development....' i.e. I am not currently a member of these (plural). Thanks. (I also see the 1st few sentences state citations are needed. Is that still an issue to leave for the reviewer to question?) Finally, please can you make the book Measuring health a cap H making it Measuring Health under Work line 2 word 1 please? Ditto under Honours, middle of line 1, a cap H for measuring health to make Measuring Health, so it is consistent with the caps for the book Research Methods in Health. It is OK in lower case under Selected works as they are all consistently lower case after the 1st word of the titles. So sorry to ask you to do these. Thanks A AnnQoLAge (talk) 23:35, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Furicorn and editor for all speedy corrections and all your amazing writing. BW AAnnQoLAge (talk) 15:20, 12 October 2018 (UTC) AAnnQoLAge (talk) 15:21, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
PS Dear Furicorn Two corrections needed are: 1) I am no longer an associate editor so this still needs changing: 'Bowling was a member of editorial board and is now the Associate Editor at International Journal of Aging and Human Development.' To (and correct to plural as here: 'Bowling has been a member of academic journal editorial boards, and formerly Associate Editor of International Journal of Aging and Human Development.' And 2) please can health (line 2 Honours) be corrected to cap. H at '== Honours ==

In July 2006, Bowling was elected Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. Measuring health ' To read as '== Honours == In July 2006, Bowling was elected Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. Dear Furicorn, Seasons Greetings. There is a long, distracting message from someone at the top of my Wikki page (thank you for creating) asking for a shorter introduction 'This article's lead section may be too long for the length of the article. Please help by moving some material from it into the body of the article. Please read the layout guide and lead section guidelines to ensure the section will still be inclusive of all essential details. Please discuss this issue on the article's talk page. (October 2018) I wonder if the message can be deleted and whether the intro really is too long as it seems short enough to me, thanks again, best wishes Ann AnnQoLAge (talk) 14:07, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ann, happy holidays! I wouldn't worry about the message, your article is in no danger of deletion, it's just a housekeeping notice that was added in October 2018 that hasn't received a lot of commentary. That being said, the intro is a touch long given the length of the article body, so I moved a few things into the Work section. If your main complaint is that the message is distracting, I hope you won't consider it unfair if I leave it to another editor to deal with this problem more thoroughly. I may yet find the motivation to rework it, but if it's not a notice that would put the article in danger of deletion, I don't want to make any promises. -Furicorn (talk) 14:59, 25 December 2018 (U
