Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (AcademicBusinessResearch) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. Dear JamesBWatson,

Thank you for your message. I am still learning about the workings of Wikipedia, so I apologise if I am not responding on the correct page.

I just want to confirm that I am an individual user, and have certainly not joined Wikipedia on behalf of any organization: my username simply reflects my interest in academic business research. This identifier is not an attempt at advertising - I cannot see how such a broad name could possibly promote any organization.

As a teacher of Business and Management, I have a good knowledge on this subject, and would like to be able to continue contributing to articles in this field. I would prefer to keep my existing username which is both easy for me to remember, and outlines my area of interest. I am sure you understand that, as a teacher, I would not like to use any more identifiable names on this site.

Is there anything that I need to do to prove that I am an individual contributer?

"Academic Business Research" looked as though it could be the name of an organisation, but you say it isn't, in which case there's no problem. I do fully understand why you don't want to use an identifiable name. A couple of small points which may be helpful to you: (1) At the end of a post to a talk page you should type four tildes (i.e. ~~~~). This will be automatically replaced with a signature. Not only is this quicker than typing your user name, but it also includes a useful link to your talk page, which helps others to contact you if they want to. (2) It is usual to put talk page posts in chronological order, with the latest one at the bottom. Since this is how other users will expect to find them, doing it the other way can cause confusion, and even cause messages to pass unnoticed, as they are not in the place where they will be looked for.

Alas, there is a steep learning curve associated with optimal use of this project. Such is always the case, although we are constantly striving to improve the experience of editing. Be aware that we've got a long and bitter history here of those (especially in business) who see nothing wrong with attempting to misuse us as just another marketing venue; so if you encounter unexpected skepticism, it is not without motivation. Nonetheless: welcome to the project! Conflict of interest?

Can I ask you again whether you have a conflict of interest? As far as I can see, 100% of your editing relates to journals published by Wiley. I also see that a significant number of your edits consist of adding links to Wiley publications in articles which have no connection at all with the subject of business and management, but which just happen to refer peripherally to something mentioned in some journal which happens to be published by Wiley. It does seem a remarkable coincidence that all of your editing should relate to one publisher if, as you say, you do not represent any business. There must be thousands of possible edits to Wikipedia articles which relate to business research but not to Wiley publications, and yet you never seem to make any of those edits. Academic, if you are only here to do editing with regards to Wiley then chances are you will end up Blocked from editing. We ask that you start doing some editing not related to Wiley as well as the Wiley editing, should you fail to do so then the Conflict of Interest questions will continue to come to the point that you are blocked.
