Hertfordshire (inactive)

Note: The school's revised website realeased today (30-oct-2007) has duplicated the opening paragraphs of this article (indeed three paras which have not been amended since creation!). Amalgamation of Apsley Grammar School and Bennetts End Secondary Modern[edit]

Bennett's End Secondary Modern was also formerly located on the Longdean site adjacent to Apsley Grammar School. The head teacher was Mr. Dane just before the amalgamation. Bennett's End buildings later became the lower comprehensive school for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year pupils, while the Apsley buildings became the site for 4th, 5th and 6th formers. The buildings were joined by a covered way. Although there had been some rivalry between the two school, the amalgamation was generally very smooth.
