Wazoo

This is my alma mater. I did a major revision of this page, adding some material, rearranging what was there, and rewording for clarity. I removed the following:

"....its mascot is Wazoo the Warrior (Wazoo is a possible pronunciation of the abbreviation of the school's name, WSU (not to be confused with Wayne State University or Washington State University)."

I removed the reference to "Wazoo" because my understanding is that "Wazoo" is only a joke and not the official name of the mascot.

I removed the references to other schools that use the abbreviation WSU because there are, in fact, quite a few schools with these initials and article is clear enough to distinguish which one is meant.

I'd say Wazoo is pretty well official, since his name has appeared in officially-sanctioned University promotional material and communications. Iceberg3k 18:57, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I've never seen anything stating this is officially the name of mascot, nor had the staff in the university president's office when I called them. Please cite sources before adding again. Jonathunder 20:03, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
The 2004 Homecoming theme, IIRC, was "Wazoo Will Rock You." It was plastered - along with the mascot design - on just about everything Homecoming related. So yes, it's been on official University material. Iceberg3k 22:12, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Might I ask why the reference to WSU winning the national title was removed from the athletic section? I consider that an important and relevant to the university, as it brought a considerable amount of attention to WSU (easily as much as any NSIC football title as done). Someone has been repeatedly removing the reference to WSU's national title. The same IP address has also constructively edited the page for Virginia Union University, (whose team WSU beat in the finals) so it would appear that the vandal has some connection to that school. That IP address, which belongs to a PBS television station in Hampton Roads, Virginia, has also been used to vandalize many other Wikipedia pages.

Because that anonymous removal of this info has been repeated many times now, I have temporarily sprotected this article. That means only established editors can edit it, at the moment. If this anon person is willing to discuss this, please do so here. Jonathunder 20:21, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Students of Winona State University, be proud! Your school is important enough to be repeatedly vandalized and be semi-protected.--Hraefen 20:59, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Thank You!!! I know it's just temporary, but I was getting terribly sick of having to come back and add that reference over and over. --Colslax 07:35, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Today I spoke with Assistant SID Mason Rebarchek and he said the name was Wazoo. I then spoke with Joe Reed, the Student Union Director. He did tell me there is nothing printed that reference Wazoo as Wazoo, but he did consider the name Wazoo. His assistant is out this week, I'll be speaking with her on Monday. --Colslax 19:45, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

There are now advertsement on campus for the audition of the new mascot "You can be Wazoo". -Colslax 22:32, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Name Changes

So I'm sitting on campus right now, and there is a plaque noting the name changes through out history. I've updated the name change section according to that (For those wondering, it's in the Younger Courtyard, near the founders quotes) --Colslax 14:55, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Maxwell Field @ Alltel Stadium

Alltel Stadium is the homefield for the football team, soccer team and Softball team. The baseball team plays at Loughrey Field, which the right field wall is the back of the West grandstand.

Athletics merger

While I can understand why some may want to get rid of the WSU Soccer and Football Pages, why not keep the general athletics page to help expand on the information from the main WSU page. WSU has a long tradition of athletics, and interesting history. -Colslax 05:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

It's been well over a month, and their has been no discussion on this (that I've seen). I was the creator of the Winona State Warriors page, along with the soccer and football pages. I am more than willing to concede that the soccer and football pages maybe excessive, but I think an athletics page can be valuable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Colslax (talkcontribs) 03:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
Oh, that was me -Colslax 03:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Dick Vitale Quote

Is there any sourcing to this? The quote has been changed, by what appears to be a Barton fan. Should the quote remain unsourced? -Colslax 02:54, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Samp / Wrobel

How should these two be linked, if at all at this point. Neither is on an NFL squad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Colslax (talkcontribs) 07:52, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

Rochester Campus

Should the Rochester Campus have it's own article or be listed within a sub-topic in the main Winona State article? Randomeditor1000 (talk) 04:53, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
