Translation error or ambiguity[edit]

This is apparently translated from the German by someone or something with an insufficient grasp of technical terms in either German or English. The design does not feature 'insufficient balance'; it likely features a reduced amount of overbalance -- meaning that there is less compensation for reciprocating balance and therefore less vertical dynamic augment (this explains the higher permissible speed). However, the reduced overbalance on an engine this small and short would result in poor yaw and hunting characteristics, which could not be well-damped by the existing primitive lead truck. This and a relatively crude suspension might be the reason for the poor riding characteristics which became evident before the engine could reach the speeds otherwise permissible by lack of augment/hammer blow.2602:306:36CF:2950:B965:3EDC:428A:A875 (talk) 23:15, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Surely there are referenes (to Garbe's designs, and to steam design in general) that could be provided briefly in this section.

Thank you for critique of my translation abilities and speculation as to what the original text might or might not have said. As the original German

article no longer refers to this balance issue, I am not sure how you can even comment on the translation; after all, perhaps the original German was incorrect.
