Vandalism[edit]

This page seems to attract a high amount of vandals. Although I personally don't care for the article's subject, I think it might be a good idea to request protection for it. ChaChaFut 04:26, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A great way to find more about Romanowski is reading the book-- ROMO MY LIFE ON THE EDGE:LIVING DREAMS AND SLAYING DRAGONS-- it tells all about his life!!

Also a book is so much more factual than the internet!!!!!!!!!!

The lawsuit amount doesn't matchup with an interview he did with CBS in September of 2006. It should be $415,000. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/10/13/60minutes/main941102_page2.shtml

I think it is utterly bizarre that this wiki has absolutely no mention about how Bill was widely regarded in the league as the cheapest and dirtiest player throughout his career. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.230.104.90 (talk) 16:12, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the same thing. I mean, he was fined several times for fighting members of his own team, he once purposefully broke a man's thumb in a pile, and those are both things that he admits to and seems proud of. His aggressive nature certainly warrants mention. Tithonfury (talk) 21:48, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, there was also an incident where he actually spit right in the face of 49er JJ Stokes which there was no mention of either along with the possible steroid talks surrounding him. So this page really left out everything that wasnt positive about him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.86.55 (talk) 07:16, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot (talk) 18:09, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Living Persons Violation[edit]

The follow section features material I have deleted as possible violations of Wikipedia's Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy. All of it looks correct to me, but it cannot stand in the article until it is cited.

Altercations[edit]

Romanowski has been involved in numerous altercations with both teammates and opponents. In 1989, while with the 49ers, he had one with offensive tackle Harris Barton after Barton had taken exception to a hit Romanowski had made on wide receiver Jerry Rice during a practice session. In 1995, while with the Eagles, he was ejected from a game — and subsequently fined $4,500 — for kicking Arizona Cardinals running back Larry Centers in the head.

Three more incidents occurred during the 1997 season while he played for the Broncos: In the first, he was fined $20,000 after his hit on then-Carolina Panthers quarterback Kerry Collins in a preseason game resulted in Collins sustaining a broken jaw; in the second, Romanowski spat in the face of 49ers wide receiver J.J. Stokes in a regular-season game played in December on a Monday night in response to Stokes' taunting; and in the third — in the AFC Championship game — Romanowski taunted Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart following an interception Stewart had thrown in the third quarter of the game, won by Denver. Two years later, while still with the Broncos, he was fined a total of $42,500 for three illegal hits plus a punch thrown at Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, and was also fined an undisclosed amount for throwing a football at Bryan Cox of the New York Jets, the ball hitting him in the crotch area.

In 2003, Romanowski injured one of his teammates, Marcus Williams, during a scrimmage. Williams, a backup tight end for the Oakland Raiders, was forced to retire after Romanowski crushed his eye socket with a punch. Williams took him to court seeking $3.4 million. Ronnie Lott and Jerry Rice, who had played with Romanowski, said that he had "crossed the line" in an admittedly violent sport. Williams was awarded $340,000. Though this was only a tenth of what he sought, Williams said that it was not really about the money but that he and his attorneys "just wanted to prove what was right and wrong about football". Romanowski did not start in 5 Super Bowls[edit]

In SB XXIII the 49ers starting linebackers were Charles Haley, Jim Fahnhorst, Michael Walter, and Keena Turner. In SB XXIV the starters were Haley, Matt Millen, Walter, and Turner. Romanoski was primarily a back-up/special teams player for the 49ers until 1990. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Evan1989 (talkcontribs) 23:07, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Horsing around[edit]

I've removed, for now, a reference to the Forbes blog entry by William P. Barrett, entitled "No Horsing Around."[1] The wording did not match the entry itself, which states clearly "There’s no indication that Romanowski had a leadership role in ClassicStar, which according to media accounts attracted interest from other professional athletes." But of course he's still liable for those back taxes.

Overall, this is a victim of "recentism". In a long career it seems unlikely to be a significant event, and is probably only in the article because it's the latest event associated with the famous name of Bill Romanowski. Time will tell, and other sources and more information will emerge if this is not the case. --TS 12:41, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Freshmaker[edit]

Unsourced text reads: Romanowski appeared as an Altoid's spokesmen from 2007-2010. He was known as the "Fresh-Maker." Unlikely. Bangabandhu (talk) 15:47, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
