"Falsas Esperanzas" (English: "False Hopes") is a song performed by American recording artist Christina Aguilera for her second studio album, Mi Reflejo (2000). It was written by Jorge Luis Piloto and released as a single through RCA Records on July 2, 2001. The uptempo Latin record was produced by Rudy Pérez and features instrumentation from a horn.

"Falsas Esperanzas" received mixed reviews from music critics with some naming it a stand-out track from the album while others were not impressed by it. The single peaked at fifteen on the Productores de Música de España and number seven on the Dutch Tipparade. Aguilera performed "Falsas Esperanzas" at the 2001 Grammy Awards and during her tours Justified and Stripped Tour and The Stripped Tour.

The 25th Lo Nuestro Awards ceremony, presented by the American network Univision, honored the best Latin music of 2012 in the United States and took place on February 21, 2013, at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida beginning at 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST. During the ceremony, Lo Nuestro Awards were presented in 33 categories. The ceremony, televised in the United States by Univision, was produced by Antonio Guzmán. Mexican performers Ninel Conde and Pedro Fernández hosted the show.

Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera earned five awards including Artist of the Year; a posthumous tribute for her was held in the ceremony and featured performances by singers Olga Tañón, Lupillo Rivera, Shaila Dúrcal, Diana Reyes and María José. American artist Prince Royce received six accolades. Multiple winners also included Mexican bands 3BallMTY, Jesse & Joy, Maná, Gerardo Ortíz, and Puerto Rican-American duo Wisin & Yandel. To further celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Lo Nuestro Awards, Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra presented a medley of songs performed by him on previous ceremonies, and Colombian singer Carlos Vives premiered his single "Volví a Nacer", ten years after his last appearance at the show.

Suavemente (English: Smoothly) is the debut studio album by American merenguero recording artist Elvis Crespo. Released by Sony Music Latin on April 14, 1998, the album popularized merengue music and established Crespo as a leading artist in the Latin music market. He collaborated with several songwriters and record producers (including Homero d'Rodriguez, Raldy Vázquez, Luis Cruz, and Juan Perez), and wrote three songs creating an overall tropical music-flavored recording.

With romantic ballads and uptempo songs, Suavemente received favorable reviews from music critics who praised its "energetic" and "catchy fan-pleasing" songs. The album was the first merengue recording to peak at number one on the United States Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, and two of its singles ("Suavemente" and "Tu Sonrisa") peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart; Crespo is the first merengue artist with two number-one merengue singles. Suavemente peaked at number 106 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album was Crespo's commercial breakthrough, introducing him to the popular music market with the Spanglish remix of its title track.
