I have recently joined the welcoming committee and have been welcoming as many users as I can on the new user creation log here. Anyway, I just cannot believe how many new users there are! user creation log[edit]

Using the user creation log to find new editors to welcome is not great. Many people register an account but never make any edits. Welcoming them doesn't seem to affect that - but maybe there's some research to show that it does. I think that using 'Recent changes' - 'new editor contributions' is more useful, ecause you find editors who are actually contributing.

I agree with editor at the top of the page about the numbers of new accounts - 5 a minute = 300 an hour = 7,200 per day. Dan Beale-Cocks 08:01, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Users without any edits[edit]

Is this really widely accepted, as stated? The concern on server resources seems to go against WP:NOTPAPER. There still isn't much point in welcoming users with no edits, but I don't think it specifically needs to be discouraged. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 02:26, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
