Animated GIF[edit]

Greetings, Bluerasberry. Would it be appropriate to have the WP15 animated GIF logo updated to be the WP16 logo? I basically cloned y'alls page to create a WD16SF page. I notice the current version of the GIF was created by a WMF contractor. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 00:58, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Checkingfax It would be better but we do not have a regular organizer on our side who does graphics. It seems that the WMF is not providing branding graphics for this year. I removed it from this event page and replaced it with the logo of the venue.
It might be nice to have a general-use Wikipedia Day logo which could be used any year but I do not think one exists. Good luck with your event. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:05, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Bluerasberry & Checkingfax I tried to create a W16 one but it's a bit of a disaster as I don't usually do graphics. I'm going to ask my niece to help me. I think WMF should help us with this. Has anyone asked? I'm happy to ask but I am not sure who to contact. Let me know. -- Erika aka BrillLyle (talk) 02:43, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, BrillLyle. Maybe Heather A. Walls? Also, Juliet Barbara or Stephen LaPorte may have referrals. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 06:36, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Image size[edit]

BrillLyle, are you looking for WP:THUMBSIZE or Wikipedia:Extended image syntax#Size? Apologies if you didn't like the caption humor; nevertheless I think we should persuade people to take better photos... ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:38, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link. I will try and learn what this is now.
I agree that of course we need pictures. We can talk about this maybe in person? But this is a huge event and I think the humor didn't translate in a positive way. I get the intention, but found it jarring and well, not funny. -- Erika aka BrillLyle (talk) 02:41, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you insist. Why did you change the images to px? As the above link mentions, that style is largely deprecated to allow for user image size preferences. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 02:28, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really sure but your comment here makes me feel very defensive. The goal of these pages is to convey a significant amount of information in as clean and easy to digest format as possible. This is the chapter's public facing event page. Snark does not translate well and I think that it should be kept to a minimum or the tone becomes problematic. If you are running an event that's fine but this is a very high profile event, so it's just non-ideal. I don't really want to have to defend this, as it seems indefensible.
I changed it to px because I couldn't figure out how to resize it and I don't really want to futz around with something new right now. I've got too much else on my plate to be changing this small detail that I have been using for a couple years now. -- BrillLyle (talk) 02:57, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Registration options[edit]

These registration options are on the page -

Ideally we should ask people to register in one place, but there are challenges. Among these choices, the Ace Hotel and meetup.com links are most important. Both of these links can be used without Wikipedia accounts and are easy to use for a count for catering.

I am emphasizing these links and de-emphasizing others. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:40, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Bluerasberry: Also Facebook:

Added your event to the US page[edit]

Hi, y'all. I added y'alls page to this page. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 04:42, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Checkingfax: Profuse thanks! -- Erika aka BrillLyle (talk) 11:31, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Names for video[edit]

I didn't get the name of the presenter of the Wikipedia for Beginners session. Also if anyone could decode the Lightning Talk speakers and topics, I'll add those to the video descriptions. Wwwhatsup (talk) 07:22, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
