migrating to Dashboard[edit]

A quick note from A+F. We are not using Meetup pages this year, and this page was erroneously created. We are not using Meetup pages to track attendance (we have talked about why we are doing this, on the main A+F page. I have notified all users who have signed in to go to the Dashboard program and sign in there. I am going to remove that section entirely from this page. I would also like to replace most of this page with a link to the Dashboard, but want to post that here as a discussion first. --Theredproject (talk) 17:05, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This page was NOT erroneously created.
Also, I have signed in those people who signed up on Wiki onto the Dashboard. So no need to contact them.
I vehemently disagree with (a) removing the signins and (b) migrating all information to the Outreach Dashboard. The Outreach Dashboard is a new tool and I am personally embracing and evangelizing completely. But it is only meant to function in a limited capacity. There needs to be a presence on Wikipedia for editathons. We have seen this successfully work. I see this move as creating chaos and making communication impossible. How are WikiFacilitators supposed to point people to resources and communicate about the details of the event. The Outreach Dashboard can't do that.
Plus the argument to get people onto Wikipedia by onboarding them to the event page still stands.
So I have a problem with this. But if A+F forces this, it's on you when it fails and creates massive user problems. -- Erika aka BrillLyle (talk) 17:31, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the A+F statement at Wikipedia:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism I see no reason we should not cross-list the events in NYC at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/ in our usual fashion, while of course making the link to their correct sign-in system. Otherwise, I do not see why other information should be removed from this page , and I think we should continue to make pages for all WP-allied future events in the NYC area. I agree this seems odd, and makes the category of meetups in NY/NYC largely incomplete. I agree that most outside users may get confused and may not find it easily and all that, but perhaps a small page listing date and location and links to those external pages, correctly categorized, would be best. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 16:05, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
