Welcome to FAC[edit]
Hi Edge3| and thank you for your nomination to FAC. A few pointers on the process and how to get the best from it:
- What to expect
As a first time nominator at FAC, the nominated article will need to pass a source-to-text integrity spot check and a review for over-close paraphrasing in addition to all of the usual requirements. You should be aware that every aspect of the article will be rigorously examined, including the standard of prose; breadth, standard and formatting of sources; image licencing; and adherence to the Manual of Style.
- Dealing with reviewers
Try to deal with comments in a timely and constructive fashion. Remember that reviewers are constructively giving their opinion on the article. Keep calm when dealing with criticism of any aspect of the article. Don't take the criticism personally: reviewers are examining the article – not you!
- How to get the best from the process
Reviewing the work of others is a good way to get a grasp of the process from the other side. Reviewing other FACs also increases the likelihood that others will review your nomination – although remember there is no quid pro quo at FAC.

- @Gog the Mild Thank you very much for your kind welcome! I see that you want me to: "Try to deal with comments in a timely and constructive fashion." I'm going to be busy for the last two weeks of December due to family visits and travel for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Accordingly, while I will still have access to my computer, my responses to feedback will be slower. Are you concerned about this timeline? This is my first time at FAC so I want to be mindful of what the usual expectations are. Edge3 (talk) 04:29, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- If it is a case of taking a little longer to respond and/or a few trickier queries being deferred to early January - when they are responded to - that shouldn't be an issue. TFA query[edit]
Hi @Gog the Mild, I hope you're doing well and having a great day! What do you think the timeline will look like for this FAC to close? I'm asking because – assuming that this FAC passes – I'd like to consider scheduling this on the Main Page. This year's iteration of Sunshine Week goes from March 10 through March 16, the latter date which happens to be National Freedom of Information Day. So I'd like to know whether it's realistic for this article to be posted on March 16 (first preference), or any day between March 10 – 15 (second preference).
Of course, since I have no prior experience in FAC or TFA, I'm not familiar with the processes. I'd appreciate your feedback on whether my goal is achievable. Thanks! Edge3 (talk) 05:42, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Edge3. The FAC seems to be ticking along well, although there is always the possibility of an issue arising. I would be surprised if this weren't closed one way or another by the end of January. Copying in Wehwalt, who will be scheduling March's TFAs, and probably has this already well under way. In any event, if and when the article is promoted get a nomination for a TFA in here.
