Request on 05:03:43, 17 May 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by 1.234.176.72[edit]

Upon creating a page for Agensgraph, my article was denied due to a reason below:

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject.

I checked the guidelines on sources and I got that blogs, PR news, interviews related to the topic's organization is not allowed to be used as a source, but then it got me wondering because Neo4j, one of the graph databases with wiki page has sources full of their own blog&websites and books are written by Neo4j personnel. I don't mean to be a snitch here, I'm just curious why Neo4j is allowed to use their own websites as source (even twitter), whereas AgensGraph doesn't.

Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality articles and poor quality ones. The existence of articles that do not meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines does not mean they have been in any way "allowed". It may simply mean that no one has gotten around to deleting them yet. So generally it isn't productive to compare a draft to other pages. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why. If you wish to learn from example articles, be sure to use only Wikipedia's best. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Neo4j's first actual edit was in February 2010 (it was originally a redirect). Drafting wasn't a thing until 2011 and wasn't mandatory until 2018. Our standards, and the enforcement thereof, have tightened over the years. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 06:29, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

why my article was rejected? what is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia? RamyaNV (talk) 09:51, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RamyaNV. Most businesses are not notable (not suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia). You may find WP:BFAQ#COMPANY informative. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Like myself and thousands of other users, you are not notable enough for an article. Have a good day. Theroadislong (talk) 14:22, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

14:09:45, 17 May 2021 review of draft by Suryabeej[edit]

I made this draft today but with only a few references to it but it got rejected stating it doesn't meets GNG parameter, I have added more references to It and I want AFC reviewers help in making me understand that weather it now passes GNG or not if No, Why despite of having More than 4-5 News Articles. and if yes How shall I add more info to it. Thanks

Suryabeej (talk) 14:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Suryabeej: It is not so much about the number of news articles but the depth of coverage in those articles. You need to show that multiple reliable, independent publications have written in depth about Batra. If the newspaper publishes a press release, that's not independent coverage. Nothing written by the institute that he is on the board for is independent. An interview with him isn't independent coverage. If the news article is only a few lines long that's not in depth coverage. Has anyone written a book about him? Or a chapter of a book about him? That would be good, in depth coverage. @Curb Safe Charmer: Oops I have just moved the page to the mainspace, cuz I feel that it has news publications, Can You tell me how many in depth coverages are required for a subject to meet gng? Suryabeej (talk) 15:15, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Suryabeej: The absolute minimum is two, but most reviewers look for at least three. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 15:16, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Curb Safe Charmer: Thank You so much for the info. I will keep that in mind Suryabeej (talk) 15:18, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BalletDancer15 (talk) 15:09, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am trying to publish a new article and it says that ,,An automated filter has identified that you are attempting to remove a deletion notice from a page that you have created. The creator of a page may not remove a speedy deletion tag from it. If you created this page and you disagree with the given reason for deletion, please go to the talk page and leave a message explaining why you believe it should not be deleted. You can also visit the talk page to check if you have received a response to your message.

If you believe you received this message in error, you may report this error.,, What does that mean and how can i publish my article?

@BalletDancer15: You have created a new article Myrna Kamara but it has no sources, so readers cannot verify what you've written is true (see WP:V. References are also needed to demonstrate that Myrna Kamara meets the WP:NBIO criteria, such as by showing that they've been written about in depth in books or national newspapers. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 15:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@BalletDancer15: Well that's because you are trying to remove a deletion notice. Don't try that. Instead, you should work on a draft of your article in your sandbox. AdmiralEek Thar she edits! 15:19, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

15:54:52, 17 May 2021 review of submission by Smithcameron100[edit]

Dear Wikipedia,

My name is Cameron Smith and I work for Exact Editions. I request your assistance because we would like to update one part of our company Wikipedia page - the “Who They Work With” section.

This section lists some of the magazines we work with. We would like to edit this so that it is up-to-date and organised. We would like to add the new magazines that have joined the platform over the past few years. We would also like to categorize the list by genre of magazine so it is more organized and clear on the page. For example, having sections like Art, Music, Sport, Politics etc…

Please could you advise how we can change this in accordance with your standards and guidelines?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Cameron (Exact Editions)

Smithcameron100 (talk) 15:54, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Smithcameron100: Hello and Welcome to the AfC Help desk. The first thing you should do, immedately, since you work for Exact Editions, is to read over WP:PAID and make the required disclosures. Since editing the article (not just "page") about a company you work for would be a conflict of interest, you should propose your suggestions on the article talkpage using the Edit request mechanism. Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide might also be worth a read. Best wishes, Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:42, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, This page was initially marked by the WikiProject Record Labels as at the "Start" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft_talk:Mint_400_Records) which I assumed meant that the page was on the right track to gathering what they needed to be published as it's a notable New Jersey record label. So I know "Other Sites Exist" and each site should be approved by it's own merits but I've thoroughly researched about 100 labels and this label seems more notable and has been written about in every publication that is located in the region. It does seem that a while back there were journalists who had wiki pages and someone went around deleting every known journalist associated with this page: Jim Testa, Bob Makin, Gary Wein and others in order to discredit this page further. Is there some reason that this page which was posted at some point years ago, then taken down and marked as promising and also marked as a good start through the WikiProject Record Labels, but is now considered not able to even be edited or worked on? If I could just have some clarification on why this particular label is not notable when they appear to be very notable in the Tri-State area, then maybe I could better restructure the article instead of trying to use the old information that was in the wiki archives.

It does seem that this article keeps getting flagged for the subject being mentioned only in passing but all record labels are mentioned only in passing as they are the producers of the product that is getting notable mentions and press. It'd be like never allowing producers of music to get an article written even if they worked on the most popular releases of all time because they weren't written about directly but their work was. Why does the Record Label Project link say the "Quality Scale" does not apply for Record label entries but it clearly does? Is there people who strictly deal with record labels who are wiki admins that can give input here?

Also wondering why one of the last reviewers of this article deleted what another admin wrote that said this article should not be deleted even if its not edited for longer than 6 months? I don't remember the exact tag but it made it sound like this was a promising article that could eventually be published.

Yes, the requirement for significant coverage in independent reliable sources does mean that some topics are not covered as well as others, but this is necessary for verification and notability purposes. 331dot (talk) 22:59, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you get to decide the importance of this? There are literally thousands of articles about the music produced by this label and they are mentioned in the articles but as certain admins claim it is in "passing". Why out of nowhere is this article being flagged after years of existing? Shouldn't someone who deals exclusively with the WikiProjects for Record Labels at least have a look at this? I added the label.fm link to their full discography, how is that not verification that they exist and are the label for these releases?
