Request on 10:54:56, 13 May 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by StarsHn[edit]

When I was preparing for the first draft, I referred to Wikipedia's Institute of Risk Management, IRM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_of_Risk_Management) for inspiration, which is not supported by any reliable sources, except providing an external link to IRM website. With no reliable sources, the submission of my first draft was rejected. Hence, for the second draft, I included sources as required - I redrafted it with reference to how Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA) did theirs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Risk_Managers%27_International_Association), which have many sources drawn from PRMIA's. However, this time the rejection reason was: my sources should be third-party, independent of the subject of the article. Press releases cannot be used."

Sincerely seeking more specified advices as I'm at a loss of what else i could do, although I have referred to both IRM and PRMIA as references for my two drafts; both are already up on Wikipedia with one having no sources (except an external link to their website) and the other with sources drawn from their own website.

Thank you.

Hi StarsHn The existence of other poor quality articles on Wikipedia is no excuse for creating more poor articles. You need to look for mainstream news or magazine articles that discuss the ARMI and its activities in significant detail, academic sources are also good, as long as they are independent of the ARMI. 20:28:08, 13 May 2016 review of submission by SRoberts1988[edit]

Hello I've been working on the Redefy Real Estate page for months. I've submitted it several times and have made changes according to the feedback I received. I went to work on it again and found that it had been deleted by xaosflux. I contacted this user but have had no answer. Is there any way to get that code? I'd really like to keep working on this without starting over. Please help!

SRoberts1988 (talk) 20:28, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SRoberts1988 Please see the deletion discussion. Unless you can prove the existence of acceptable sources that unequivocally do prove that the company is notable, the draft is very unlikely to be undeleted. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:45, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Roger (Dodger67) I appreciate your comment. I've been struggling over what's "notable" but I think I understand now. I patterned this page after some other published pieces on companies like this, but I'll make sure to go through the sources and delete all but newsworthy pieces. Did you find the content itself acceptable? Thanks again for helping out a rookie, Su. SRoberts1988 (talk) 18:20, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have inserted my references using <ref></ref> but now can't understand the instructions as to how to make them "proper" - ie, quote the newspaper and article like a proper academic reference! Please help!

Hello, IP editor, and welcome to the Help Desk. One easy way to do this is to use a special template like {{cite web}}. Basically you fill out several parameters in the template and it will make the reference look nice. I will do one for you at Draft:Calais Action as an example, and you can also use the explanation at Template:Cite web if you need more guidance. /wiae /tlk 22:16, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
