I've added to the Apple Cultivars page as there are many important varieties missing. The page I created for Scrumptious was deleted but it was factual and similar to many other apple pages that exist. What did I do wrong? Matthewneilsonthomas (talk) 10:15, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Apple Scrumptious was deleted by User:Jimfbleak because it was "unambiguous advertising or promotion". Promotion is not permitted on Wikipedia. Unfortunately I am not an admin so I cannot see the deleted article to give you further advice, however Jimfbleak might respond here soon. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 15:06, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I find this page very confusing.

I am looking for help, and can't figure out the help page.

We have been told twice now to add citations. We have many more citations than several articles which have been published already on wikipedia. Can you give us more specific information, please?

The problem is not the number of citations, it's their quality. For example, http://fiddlersfolly.com/jack-abell/ which you cite several times is a site dedicated to the subject of the article and one other person, and so does not count as an independent source. I have recieved mail that states : Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by DGG was: This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time.

Two things please - does this mean I did tried to publish the article via 'Articles for Creation' instead of under my own name? This was not my intention! Also, I would greatly appreciate if you could please review my submission - I have added the categories that I would like the article to be placed under. Thank you so much!

Josefa Rauluni was born in Fiji in 1974. He arrived in Australia on a tourist visa in November of 2008. He moved to Griffith, where he earned money by picking fruit – money that he sent home to his son and partner in Fiji.[1] On expiration of his tourist visa, Rauluni applied for a protection visa, which was denied in August 2009. He appealed to the Refugee Review Tribunal, an appeal that was denied. Rauluni “became an unlawful non-citizen in July 2010”.[2] On August 17 2010, Rauluni was arrested and sent to Villawood Detention Centre. Mr Rauluni continued to make appeals for his case to be reviewed without success, and on September 17 he was given notice that he would be deported on Monday, September 20.[3] At approximately 9.45am on Monday, September 20, Josefa Rauluni jumped to his death from a two-storey balcony at Villawood Detention Centre. Refugee advocate Sara Nathan, who works with asylum seekers at Villawood Detention Centre, stated that Mr Rauluni climbed over the balcony 15 minutes before he was due to be handcuffed ”where he pleaded to be allowed to stay in Australia, even if it is in detention, as he feared persecution if he returned.”[4] Usaisa Peter Waqatairewa, the National President of the Fiji Democracy and Freedom Movement, said that “[Rauluni] was talking to me right up until he jumped…He was saying that he was gonna jump if they try and grab him."[5] “He pleaded with me to tell them he does not want to go back and would rather die. He again stressed that all he wanted was to be allowed to stay here until a change of government in Fiji and democracy is again restored. … I asked him to hand the phone to the security guys. I spoke to a lady and said, `listen the guy is suicidal - please refrain and get a professional negotiator to deal with it or get someone in authority'.”[6] “President Waqatairewa said Mr Rauluni was willing to testify in Australia against a man accused of defrauding Fijians who had been promised visas, but feared he would be persecuted if he returned to Fiji.”[7] Josefa Rauluni’s 21-year-old nephew, Eddie Rauluni [also held at Villawood Detention Centre], watched as his uncle jumped to his death. Psychologist’s reports from the centre noted that both Josefa and his nephew “had been suffering from bouts of severe anxiety but were not given counselling or medication.”[8] A spokesman from the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre reported to the media that “[t]he department extends its sympathies to the man's family.”[9]

I am a loss as to what to do with my page. If you could advise me as to what I should change. As I hold one of the most prestigious positions in mathematics education I'm slightly confused why my page has been rejected.

Thanks for any suggestions you can make. I can't even edit the Joiint Mathematical Council page to refer to me as chair until my page exists!

Hello @Paul Glaister:, have you read WP:Notability (academics) as was suggested to you? Your sourcing doesn't show that you have, since it's things like publication listings, committee membership pages, etc and such that aren't the key things we need. The point of writing a draft is to aim to meet the requirements of an academic bio, not to write what you personally think the bio should include.

Along those lines as well, it's a very bad idea to write your own article, for a whole host of reasons. See WP:Autobiography for a good summary. And not to put too fine a point on it, but if nobody on the planet is more motivated to write an academic biography of you than you yourself, do we really need an article about you at this time? Biographies should be written because uninvolved objective writers find a person compelling enough to write about, not because a person wants to write about themselves. Can you point out where the article reads like an advertisement? I find the tone very neutral. The company was the first in the world to create a chartplotter, revolutionizing navigation for boaters. It is worthy of an article and the sources are from magazines who wrote about the company.
