00:59:55, 30 October 2014 review of submission by Karasaba[edit]

Karasaba (talk) 00:59, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello My article Elizabeth Martin has been declined I would like to know how I can improve it so that it will be accepted I am keen to see My aunt who was a successful career woman artist represented. Thanks Karasaba 00:59, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

@Karasaba: There are comments on the draft, so you should read those. Specifically, you have to make a case for notability of the subject, either specific to her as an artist or generally. Also, please read our "Referencing for Beginners" guide to improve how you're citing sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:17, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 08:00:39, 30 October 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Leveleaf[edit]

Hello! I am a new in Wikipedia editing and would like to request assistance to create a Wikipedia page on Nino La Civita, an Italian artist who migrated to India in the 30ies, was internee in a WW2 camp there and then realized wonderful frescos at the Saint Francis Church of Dehradun, once he got freedom.

Leveleaf (talk) 08:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Leveleaf: As is explained on the draft, the subject doesn't meet our notability criteria. Further, you've provided no sources. (Try this and this.) Finally, we don't help you write a draft article. We simply review your draft and tell you what needs to be fixed. If you want help, try the reward board. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:59, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

08:43:42, 30 October 2014 review of submission by Abrosi[edit]

Abrosi (talk) 08:43, 30 October 2014 (UTC) This is not a question. Here is the problem. James Edward Meldrum has not been documented by either Heritage Scotland or Wikipedia. I have received this prima facie evidence from a Meldrum (Williard Meldrum) descendant (now deceased) living in Canada. I am in possession of these two water colour paintings (verified by this descendant) which I am willing to forward to you if so requested. As such I am the final source on the matter - this is sometimes the reality. You either believe me or you do not. That is up to you. Right now I am the sole proof of James Edward Meldrum's legacy to the art world. If you read my description carefully -- I could hardly have made this up -- literally impossible. My credibility has also been sustained through my contributions to the Klafeld-Geisweid 08 article improvements.[reply]

I think that no-one has any idea what you are talking about. You are, however, in a very strange forum for whatever it is your message is about since this forum deals with providing help for those creating articles. No-one wishes to have your paintings forwarded to them. Please do not even consider this action. Fiddle Faddle 09:45, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, now I see. You created a draft article at your User page. I have moved this to Draft:James Edward Meldrum. No-one calls your veracity into question. It is simply that your word is not a valid source of reference, interesting and important as your word is. Encyclopaedias may not be built upon first hand experiences. See WP:PRIMARY. We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS please. See WP:42. If Meldrum is to have an article here then he must be proven not just to exist, but to be notable. So please do some research. This search or variants of it may help you. Fiddle Faddle 09:52, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately this is of zero help to me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abrosi (talkcontribs) 11:40, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Then please specify the help you require. The need for references and notability is non negotiable. If you are to have the draft accepted you must work within our rules. Fiddle Faddle 13:37, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

13:13:01, 30 October 2014 review of submission by Omre White[edit]

Hi, my draft for the page "Dylan Paul Ware" was rejected on 29/10/14 apparently because a link contained "copyrighted material". This is an error as it doesn't. I requested permission (in writing) from Dylan Ware to create a Wikipedia page, and he subsequently expressed an interest in using my proposed text for the biography section in his bandpage site. This was fine with me. I am assuming this to be the reason my draft was later rejected?

Could this be rectified, or is there some further action that can be taken that will enable me to publish my draft?

Thanks, Omre.

Omre White (talk) 13:13, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is a little complicated. Possibly the simplest way to resolve it would be to read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials which explains what is required for content you own to be used by Wikipedia. And then, if you agree to the requirements, scroll down to the section Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials#Granting us permission to copy material already online, and ask Dylan Ware to add the text described as an example of "a good statement of release" to the webpage in question.
If you or Dylan prefer not to do it that way, you could instead pursue some of the other options on that page. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:58, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would advise against going down the donating route as a bio for a person's own website is likely to fail our guidelines on neutral tone. It means you lose control of that particular piece of prose and it ceases to be yours. Rankersbo (talk) 09:36, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. I have explained the copyright situation to Dylan Ware, and he offered to take my Wikipedia entry off his site, which I see he has done already.

Can my draft be revived for publication now? or will I need to re-submit/format and wait for review etc? Omre White (talk) 10:48, 31 October 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omre White (talkcontribs) 10:35, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

14:29:18, 30 October 2014 review of submission by Indigojones666[edit]

Indigojones666 (talk) 14:29, 30 October 2014 (UTC) Hi Rankersbo[reply]

I wrote the article "A Milliners Dream" as a creative piece. This contained all the biographical information required to compile the entry for Wikipedia. For Wikipedia I have stripped out all the flowery text and presented the basic facts with citations from trusted 3rd party sources such as major British newspapers and the V&A museum London. I have read the articles on the milliners Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy and followed a similar format. I have removed the citation to my article "A Milliner's Dream" as this may have appeared too biased. I retained some of the quotes from John Boyd as they seemed pertinent. Regards Garry Rigby

@Indigojones666:  Doing... I'm going to accept this draft but I'm going to have to fix a few things before I do. I appreciate your effort to make the article boring, as boring is what we're going for. The citation for "A Milliner's Dream" has to go back in because you can't keep unsourced quotes; that's simply a non-starter. In the future, please don't base a draft article on other articles you've read. Both Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones (milliner) are start class and have problems that should be corrected. I recommend you look at articles rated B-class, Good article, and better. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:35, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

14:56:03, 30 October 2014 review of submission by 118.209.89.119[edit]

I'm wondering why my article was declined. This is for a reasonably well known Aussie cartoonist who has recently passed away. The links should establish his authenticity and popularity.

118.209.89.119 (talk) 14:56, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find the draft (or article?) that you are talking about. Please could you give us a link to it? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:52, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect Draft:Aaron O'Donnell is the draft. The reasons are on it. Fiddle Faddle 16:31, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

15:19:43, 30 October 2014 review of submission by Ndstead[edit]

 Done

Hello

I have created an article in Sandbox, (Francis John Fowler), and submitted it for review, but half of it has not appeared. The article is complete as I wrote it in the edit page, but not in the preview. Have I made a mistake? Do I need to start again?

Thanks

Nigel

Ndstead (talk) 15:19, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nigel. It looks like the problem was just a very small mis-typing in one of the reference tags you added. I think I have now fixed it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:50, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

23:20:28, 30 October 2014 review of draft by Violethodges[edit]

Violethodges (talk) 23:20, 30 October 2014 (UTC) How do I change the title of an article that I am working on (Peter McCartney). I don't see any way to edit the title.[reply]

New users do not have the rights to move an article to a new title, but those rights arrive over time and without asking. For now please concentrate on making the draft the best you are able. WHat title do you have in mind? Fiddle Faddle 23:34, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If I can't change the title, can you just delete the entry so that I can start it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Violethodges (talkcontribs) 15:56, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Violethodges: No, what Fiddle Faddle is saying is that we can move the article to the correct name; no need to start over. Just keeping improving your draft and let us know what name the draft should be at. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:27, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the title to Peter McCartney. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Violethodges (talkcontribs) 19:52, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
