January 7[edit]

can someone please help me with what is meant by inline citations? eValid is referenced in many books and I have recorded the refs accordingly, yet, we are denied due to notability? Do I need to somehow link some of the sentences to the books I've referenced or ? Please help dummy me to understand better, as I try to submit our article for a third time, do you see anything wrong with my references? will alphabetical order help? Looking for any little helpful input, thank You! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.120.77.10 (talk) 01:56, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The reviewers are requesting that you improve the formatting of your citations but that's not what is preventing acceptance. They are requiring that you provide new citations that demonstrate notability of the subject. Please see WP:N for a in-depth discussion of this requirement. A conflict of interest, if present, is also a potential deal-breaker. Read WP:COI for information on that. ~KvnG 14:47, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I submitted an article on V.M. Kuttykrishna Menon was not approved. The page is about the Ayurvedic exponent of royal lineage who lived in small town in India. He has contributed immensely to field of Ayurvedic science and Malayalam literature as he has translated important texts from Sanskrit and also written books. There are 2 books written on him.

I would like to know the reasons why the page was not approved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.63.172.47 (talk) 03:06, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your article submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/V.M. Kuttykrishna Menon was declined for the reasons given in the pink box at the top of that page. Also, I do not think you intend to refer to Menon as a simpleton. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:05, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear One,

I have just heard that my article wasn't accepted but I wasn't given any reasons why this happened. Is it possible to know the reasons so that I can correct it and get it approved?

Thank you very much for your time.

Hi Valmiki108, the reasons for a rejection are always given on the page itself, in the grey section of the pink decline box, plus some reviewers leave some personalised comments underneath. Rankersbo (talk) 08:40, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Rankersbo, I didn't realized that. I will try my best to modify the article so that it conforms to Wikipedia styles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.185.17.220 (talk) 20:21, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Respected sir,

Kindly help to create article " Dhriti pati sarkar ".Datacon (talk) 09:06, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted the article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Kaitlyn Kayla Fritz to be titled Kaitlyn Fritz not Kaitlyn Kayla Fritz. Can this title be revised to NOT include middle name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skinfarm (talkcontribs) 11:10, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the page for you; it is now located at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Kaitlyn Fritz. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 11:28, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article on my company was declined due to lack of notable references https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:WeR-On2U/sandbox. I am not sure what to do. There have been articles written about my company in various periodicals. Should I reference those and if so, where?

Thank you

WeR-On2U (talk) 15:39, 7 January 2014 (UTC)WeR-On2U[reply]

Yes. In your article draft at User:WeR-On2U/sandbox. See Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for exactly where on that page, and how, to add them. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:50, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editors,

Can you help? My article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Total Kunst has been rejected twice. Apparently due to not reliable references. I have included references in support of the article. Please advise what is wrong!

Thank you very much for your help in advance! Katwrobl (talk) 14:19, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The issue with most of the references in your submission is that they are not WP:INDEPENDENT of the subject. To demonstrate notability, You need to find significant coverage in editorial sources such as magazines and newspapers. ~KvnG 14:54, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My question: how to upload a picture to an article under review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seguso45 (talkcontribs) 17:51, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you drew the picture yourself without using any of anyone else's work, then you could upload it to Wikimedia Commons. A successful upload there should give you the required markup to insert the upload in a Wikipedia page. There is also a Wikipedia:Picture tutorial. Really confused why my article was declined since I had at least 6 reputable WIKI notability references.. I spent a lot of time on this page and felt I did exactly what I was supposed to do and followed the exact criteria..Can someone please help?

The article was not deleted, it was Declined (a draft that is marked as not yet ready to publish). I have left you comments on my Talk page in reply to your question there: User_talk:MatthewVanitas#.._MY_DARLING_RECORDS_Wiki_label_page. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:41, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it seems my first attempt at getting an article through has been denied, twice. Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I can explain why it's been declined. There is only one independent, reliable source to your article, that showing that two Rufus tracks gained grammy awards. This shows that the ensemble is notable, not any of the individual members. And indeed there is already an article on Rufus. The other links are either video sites, which are not relaible sources, or the artists own band website, which is not independent of the performer. You need coverage of the artists career in other sources. Rankersbo (talk) 22:52, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editors,

I was wondering why my submission on Han Bangqing was not accepted. He's a very interesting figure in Chinese literary history (though not much is known about his life) so I hope he can get a page!

I'd be grateful for any advice on how to improve my submission.

Thank you!

Oops! I see now the problem was lack of adequate sources. I'll try to find some better ones!
Thanks!

Hi,

I authored the post Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Canadian Association for Equality

The reviewer who declined the original post said it didn't read like an encyclopedia article and that I had to remove the youtube references. I removed the youtube references. Could you provide specific spots where the entry is problematic and I will happily make further edits. I have had no experience with drafting wikipedia articles and tried my best to make the post as objective and neutral as possible.

thank you

JimSmith123 (talk) 23:25, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article submission looks quite good so far, in my opinion.
There is however a paragraph in the Campus Controversy section which appears to be talking solely about the CFS and the RSU, not about the CAFE. This paragraph should probably be removed, or at least recast to make CAFE the subject of it.
You could then try resubmitting the submission by putting {{subst:submit}} at the top of it.
It is normal practice to have a separate External Links section at the end, with just a single link to the organisation's main website URL. This would allow readers to find the YouTube videos etc if they wished. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 14:03, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I have reworked the paragraph in question. The association to CAFE is the reason why the campus groups were banned. The campus groups and CAFE are working closely together. I have submitted the article for consideration.
