July 7[edit]

Hi, I've just created my first article and submitted it for review, but then did another edit and resubmitted for review. I had assumed that the second submission would just overwrite the original one, but that doesn't appear to be the case, and I can't work out how to delete the first one. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could tell me how I can delete one of them :). Many thanks, KatherineGrundy (talk) 17:09, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The submission messages are created by the lines {{AFC submission|||ts=20120707164029|u=KatherineGrundy|ns=5}}, currently at the end of the article. I removed one of the two. That wouldn't have been a problem, though: A bot will soon come along, move the submission message to the top, and remove any duplicates at the same time. Huon (talk) 22:57, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aha, thanks very much. It's a steep learning curve ;) KatherineGrundy (talk) 23:11, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your critique of my story; "Paris Hilton Scheduled for Launch in Outer Space " hinges on the assumption and apparent conclusion in the reader's mind that the "Story is a Hoax".., and that the story is the " Author's Attempt to be Funny ". The Story can be confirmed by calling Virgin Galactica Space Co in New Mexico. ( Virgin Galactica Space Co .com ).., or call 770-432-3247 for Telephone confirmation or additional information. You can get additional information by going to the following website; ( Richard Branson.com ). When I first heard of this I was sceptical as well., until I researched it. As far as the " Atempt to be Funny ".., The story and the circumstances inherently associated with the People., Places and Things lend themselves to be somewhat funny especially when you consider the eccentric and lively people involved with this endeavor. Sometimes the "Facts" happen to be "Funny" by their very nature and are conveyed as they are in reality. *( The "Right Stuff" by Tom Wolfe about the Space Race in 1962 was inherently funny because people do funny things as a matter of routine or serendipity ). I am not a professional comedian and was not attempting to be "funny".., the situaton though is intersting to say the least. I hope yo will consider the "Story" nevertheless.., after you research it a bit. I have limited resources to interveiw the principles involved. Thank You,

Nobody is going to phone anyone to verify the claims in your draft. You have to provide the sources. See WP:Referencing for beginners. You're writing the article so it's on you to do the research, not the readers. However "doing research" does not mean interviewing people - only already published sources, preferably independent of the subject (such as mainsteam news media) are acceptable. Hope this helps. I'm sorry, but it seems that there are wide and random criteria for who is "notable" and who is not. There are MANY people with specific wikipedia pages who are NOT notable. In fact, Schlanger has actually supplanted two of those individuals in television positions in his career. It does not make sense. You have references pointing to Schlanger doing the things that are listed in the article. Just because there are not long and drawn out newspaper stories about him does not make any of the sources untrue nor does it make him less notable. He has appeared on-air at major television networks and will continue to do so. Given the capricious standards by which others have wikipedia pages, how can you justify Schlanger's exclusion? Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sessoccer (talkcontribs) 20:51, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there are many articles on non-notable persons on Wikipedia. That's no reason to create more, we just haven't yet deleted others which should not exist. And while the references about Schlanger are undoubtedly true, notability requires more than that - the lack of significant coverage in newspapers or the like does make him less notable. Doing his job, even on air, is not in itself notable. Huon (talk) 22:57, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I find it highly interesting that you rejected my entry citing that it can not be verified, but you approved a competing station, HOT108 WNHY 107.9 in NYC. But the information posted on that review is falso, because the station doesn't exist on the FM dial.

Verify tht! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Urban Hitz Radio (talkcontribs) 23:53, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information on WNHY.  I have tagged the page.  They do not appear to have a commercial license, however the FCC issues dozens of types of licenses besides commercial.
As to your article, I have moved it from your sandbox to Articles for Creation. You can continue to edit your article there. You will still need to provide reliable, third party, verifiable information as to it's notability and any claims made. Thanks for your efforts.  :- ) Don 00:42, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
