What you need are reliable sources to back up the iformation, both to establish your village's notability and to allow our readers to verify the article's content. Maybe the Indian Census website will back up the demographical information?

I have moved the draft to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Aranthangi where it will be reviewed soon. But without some reliable sources it cannot be accepted. Huon (talk) 11:42, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. I'm guessing you were trying to add in the sri lanka flag to the article? I removed the data:image block, but if the article is accepted then later the flag can be added in an infobox.

And looking at Wikipedia:Notability_(sports)#Badminton, Mr. Karunaratne does pass notability tests because he is participating in this years Olympic games. Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Erin Grace Willett[edit]

After getting rejected twice, I'm learning, but still have 2 questions about Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Erin Grace Willett]]

I uploaded a picture but it doesn't look like it took. What am I doing wrong?

The name of the article should actually be "Erin Willett" but Erin's name is already used as a placeholder on the NBC The Voice Season 2 site. This is the same Erin Willett. I am her mother.

I fixed the image issue; that was partially due to a typo. When the draft is accepted, the place holder will be overwritten. Maybe we'll have to delete it to make way for the article; in that case an admin will have to lend a hand, but that won't be much of a problem either way.

However, there are several issues with the draft. First of all, you might want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest. Writing about close relatives is discouraged. Secondly, many of the references are rather dubious. Some are clearly primary sources such as Willett's own website or the website of The Voice. The links to the Gazette and Hofstra Chronicle articles were broken (I fixed that). The Girl Scouts Music website not only is a primary source, it doesn't even devote a single sentence to Willett. All that is a little thin. To clearly establish Willett's notability, some non-local newspaper coverage would be really helpful. Conversely, content not supported by sources or only supported by primary sources should probably be shortened or removed. Huon (talk) 20:51, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chet Ng[edit]

Hi,

Article was declined due to "lack of context". Not really sure what that means. Does it mean more information are needed like adding a whole lot more information? What would be a good example of "having context" vs "lacking context"?

The article is very short, and the second half is more of a table than text. "Context" could be some information on Chet Ng's upbringing or education, or something on his work before 2009.

More importantly, I don't think many of the references are reliable. YouTube videos usually are not, and Wikipedia itself definitely is not (that would be circular). The Film Business Asia review seems reliable, but it doesn't have much to say about Chet Ng. The awards website is a primary source. To establish his notability, we need significant coverage in reliable secondary sources, such as newspaper articles about him or reviews of his works published with a reliable publisher (ie not just some random person's opinion). While that's not strictly necessary, English sources would be helpful for all those of our readers who can't read Chinese - maybe the international award he won received some English coverage?
