Across the world, museums and libraries have been hosting “edit-a-thons” -- massive Wikipedia editing events -- to address gaps in content on Wikipedia. Supported by Wikimedia New York City, the Center for Women’s History is joining this worldwide effort by using the rich resources of the New-York Historical Society to enhance Wikipedia entries on women’s history. This internal, volunteer edit-a-thon will hopefully serve as a model for future events, as well as a chance to consider the ways that the New-York Historical Society can contribute productively to this platform in the future. This event will be held from 12:00 - 5:00PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Caveat. No experience is required. All you need is your laptop and your questions!
