What: Alden Libraries Wikipedia Edit-a-thon,

When: Friday, October 23, 10am-1pm

Where: Ohio University Alden Library. Friends of the Library Room (Alden 318)

What to bring: Your laptop and power adapter. The Library will also have laptops available.

Focus: Working to build our editing literacies in Wikipedia, to share resources, and improve access, awareness, and use of Alden's collections in Wikipedia

Beginners are welcome! Lunch provided!

Goals[edit]

To foster Wikipedia editing literacy
To share methods and resources for engaging faculty in Wikipedia, especially as it applies to information literacy
To improve access, awareness and use of Alden's collections in Wikipedia
To celebrate Open Access Week

Share methods and resources for engaging faculty in Wikipedia Information Literacy assignments, activities, and initiatives
Demonstration and practice sessions of targeted editing skills in Wikipedia
Pre-planned editing projects that engage specific topics and/or Alden resources expand existing articles or create new articles in Wikipedia

12:50 Celebrate & Janet Hulm makes closing remarks
