Speedy deletion nomination of Beyond Facebook[edit]

A tag has been placed on Beyond Facebook requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Working with live Wikipedia articles[edit]

I suggest that you start with a topic equally alien to all your students (i.e., not your university or even state, but something more random; maybe even start by clicking the "Random article" link next to the edit window here). Then examine the current article on that topic, see if there are tags like {{refimprove}} or {{fact}} that indicate things which need improving about that article. Then follow the course of the edits, the reactions of other editors working on that article, etc. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:53, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If their edits are sound, why on Earth would they be reverted? Tell the students that this is not Facebook, this is a reference work; they should take their edits as seriously as they would take writing a paper for a course whose instructor does care about spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as properly sourcing a citation and the like. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:06, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I find that a lot of articles here need better sourcing; and the effort to find reliable information on, say, an Albanian nationalist of the 19th century, is good training in the uses of on- and off-line reference materials.
