Tutedhara, jarun or something else. Can you help? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Jarun_in_Nepal

Hi there, A while ago you looked at my Dhunge dhara article. I am now working on another article about Nepalese drinking fountains. The work is coming on nicely - it's a much simpler subject than dhungedhara -, but I have a problem finding an appropriate name. Can you help me? These old tanks have many names: tutedhara, jahru, jarun, jaladroni, jarunhiti, etc. Is there a common name that everybody uses? Or are these things so obsolete that nobody speaks of them any more? The list with cultural heritage monuments lists a number of them as 'jaldroni'. Would that be the way to go? Thanks for your time. --Judithcomm (talk) 20:54, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello Judithcomm, good to hear from you again. 'Jaladroni' is obviously a sanskrit word, 'Jala' is definitely water, one online source says 'Jaladroni' means 'water-bucket', so it makes sense that that would mean a water tank. Jaladroni, I suspect is more a Hindu term than a specifically Nepali term. You could look at the context of their usage, such as whether they are referring to water-sources associated with a Hindu temple. 'Tutedhara' is the most Nepali-sounding and that's the only word I have been familiar with since childhood, but I am not Newar. I suspect, Newar children would be more familiar with 'Jarun'. 'Jarun', 'Jahru', 'Jahdu' and 'Jarunhiti', all seem to be variations of the same thing.
Back to actual issue at hand. To choose a title, look at the sources you have and choose the one that's most commonly used to refer to the thing (by thing, I mean the subject as well as the scope of your article). It's nothing to worry about, really. It is quite easy to rename an article by WP:MOVING it. Once you have an article up, someone more familiar with the topic could come along and move it to the best-suited title. And, redirects are very cheap. Whichever title you go with, simply create redirects from all other alternative titles, and that's all that's needed. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 06:07, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
The article Tutedhara is on its way. I posted the first draft just now. More to follow. --Judithcomm (talk) 17:27, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
That's a great first draft, Judithcomm, thank you! I have created a few redirects. Feel free to add any alternative names/spellings you come across. Cheers! Usedtobecool ☎️ 18:36, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
;-) --Judithcomm (talk) 18:38, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
The article is now finished. I don't think I can squeeze more out of the available sources (the English ones, that is).--Judithcomm (talk) 10:14, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

BioViva

Thank you for keeping an eye (or two) on BioViva and the Talk page. I have attempted to remove fluff and flimsy science from the article, and explain my efforts at Talk. David notMD (talk) 17:02, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words David notMD. Although, I should be the one thanking you, as you are doing all the heavy-lifting, but yeah, I've been watching intently for both the MEDRS stuff interests me and there is always a likelihood in cases like this that the new editor will not be satisfied until a third editor comes in and confirms that the experienced editor should be taken heed. I think we can remove the expert tag now that you're involved. The lead needs expanding to both summarise the article and make it clear that BioViva isn't proven science. But there is probably a template for that too, if you can't right now. Thank you for taking this on. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 18:43, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Just a quick hello...

Hey Usedtobecool (relatable), I'm Sam. I'm a cricketer (check my userpage), and I got bored, so I looked back on when Kathmandu Kings XI was nominated for deletion, and noticed you. I checked your userpage and noted something; you're just like me. I thoroughly love cricket. Do you play? I do; again check my UP. PS Cheers for keeping my article up ;)

Hello Sam! Nice to meet you! I used to in school but was never any good at it, I mostly just follow the results nowadays.
I have seen your post at the KKXI talk page btw; the article is stubby enough that I didn't care to remove the tag, but no one would fault you if you want to. Either is fine, as the article stands. I took a look at your userspace too (you did invite me to ) and just a heads up: your /opinion page is against policy. Sorry! Usedtobecool ☎️ 14:34, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. I do follow Nepal sometimes actually. Seem like a good side. I'm very much an England follower, despite playing for Singapore. I'll wait for more consensus on that matter. Cheers for taking a look at my userpage! And on that last thing, cheers for the headsup; shall get deleting. Take care! SamRathbone Not especially a follower of England as such. But I do find myself cheering for individual players on occasion. Like Cook in that final innings, or when Morgan and Root have come into pressure as they do, for their immediate form. Cheers! Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:23, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

DYK for 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Nepal

On 18 March 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Nepal, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a man suspected of carrying coronavirus in Nepal ran away from the hospital? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2020 coronavirus pandemic in Nepal. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Nepal), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Usedtobecool, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 05:56, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Heads up re: CU and Nepal

CU isn't particularly useful in Nepali topics because there is one main internet provider that the accounts used on en.wiki move along, and one operating system and browser dominate. In other words, everyone looks like a sock to a CU, and all the evidence will tell us is that they live in the same country, which doesn't do much since Nepal has millions of people. Anyway, if you come across a sock, it's probably better to ping an admin who is familiar with them at the SPI or post on their talk page than request CU. VDC and Municipality of Nepal

Hi Usedtobecool, I want your attention on related articles on VDC and Municipality of Nepal. There were more than 3000 VDCs in Nepal before 2017 and I think there are thousands of articles has been created on different VDCs of Nepal, but those articles has lack of contents, almost all VDCs has contents like this:

ABC is a Village development committee in DEF district in GHI zone of JKL development region of Nepal. At the time of 2011 census it had population of XXXX.

So, I think these type of articles should be deleted from Wikipedia. Those VDCs can be merged with new created Rural municipalities.

Some VDCs has more content which can be updated like: Namche Bazar, Tengboche, Jomsom etc. Also there are some municipality/city articles available on wikipedia which includes word "municipality" with it's name, i.e. Suryodaya Municipality, so I would suggest to remove "municipality" word from all the cities names or include "municipality" with all cities names. Like Kathmandu to Kathmandu Municipality or Suryodaya Municipality to only Suryodaya.

New created rural municipality also has same problem. Some rural municipality has words rural municipality with it's name, some has Gaunpalika with it's name and some has without these words. Like: Udayapurgadhi, Kerabari Rural Municipality, Katahari Gaupalika. --- 👤Raju💌 07:45, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Raju Babu, hi! We can not delete the VDC articles; they meet the notability criteria and someone put a lot of effort creating 4,000 of them even if barebone; many others since have contributed to their maintenance. They do have potential for full development; we had best give them 10-20 more years to realise it.
We can not append "Municipality" to well-known cities. We would never get consensus for it. In theory, we could remove "municipality" from the lesser-/un- known municipalities, but I think that would be a bad idea. Without "Municipality"s in their names, people would have no idea what the articles are about. Sources, for this very reason, call it "Suryodaya Municipality"; we should too. We can create redirects from all full names to well-known cities and from "Municipality"-less names to lesser known municipality articles. So, redirecting Kathmandu Municipality to Kathmandu and redirecting Suryodaya to Suryodaya Municipality would be best. We can move articles around to maintain consistency this way—move all unknown municipalities to [[[Name] Municipality]]. When any given municipality becomes well-known as a city with it's proper name only, we can move it to the name without "Municipality".
For rural municipalities, the official English is "Rural Municipality", so we can move all articles to "[Name] Rural Municipality" (capital R, capital M) and create redirects from "[Name]", "[Name] Gaunpalika", "[Name] Gaupalika", and "[Name] rural municipality". Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:43, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
Hey Raju Babu, I didn't hear back from you. Does that mean you've decided to proceed as I suggested?
The reason I'm pinging you is, I wanted to discuss with you about the District templates. I had promised to bring up a proposal to standardise all district templates with regard to the urban and rural municipalities as well as VDCs. But, I'd much rather discuss it with you first. Please let me know if you are available. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:26, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Also, did you download their pictures from random websites and upload them to Commons under a free license? Please clarify how you own the copyright to those files. Usedtobecool checked your notes and made every possible correction. i have no direct connection with both but i am follower of Nepali look dohori(nepali folk duet ) songs . for the pictures i searched steps on YouTube and followed that as i am new on wikipedia and i use youtube to learn about wikipedia. Ssapkota23 (talk) 13:46, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Ssapkota23, Yes, I am following your improvements to the article. One advice I would add, would be to format the citations properly if you can, using {{cite web}} for example. Just look at other examples in the article, and the template that I just linked, and add details like the title of the story, date, website, etc.
I think the pictures are a copyright violation. If you are not the owner of those pictures, you do not have the legal permission to release them to Wikimedia as free files. I could ask around (I don't work in that area) and take necessary steps, but it might be better for your experience-gaining endeavour and also community reputation, if you did it yourself. Please tell me asap, if you would rather ask yourself, for example, at the WP:Teahouse, to make sure the pictures are copyright compliant, and remove them if not. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 14:12, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
BTW, when you asked me to "review" above, did you mean "help you make the article better" or "officially review it so it shows up on google"? If it's the latter, I have not seen the article passing WP:SIGCOV from the sources I have checked, and do not right now have the time to research properly. I might do it later if I have the time to look, and find high quality sources; otherwise, I will not review it officially, mainly because it is not proper to do show on demand, IMV. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 14:20, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Usedtobecool i was(and still) requesting you to help me improve my article, as i am new on Wikipedia and don't know rules and regulation. i somehow learned how to use talk page and ask for help regarding improvement of articles . your help on the article will be highly appreciated. if you follow Nepalese duet folk music you may already know about him as he is singing from last 16/17 years. for the pictures i have given source of the picture (from where i got them ) and selected "Not my work" . However if that doesn't meet the the requirement i am ready to take them down , please guide me how to delete those picture(if they violates copyright) Ssapkota23 (talk) 14:47, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
It's not so much whether I know them, as whether there is enough good sourcing to justify the article; I suspect yes, and you have done a fair amount of work to establish that, but I am not as yet completely sure. As I said, I'll need time to take a deeper look.
When you open the image in Wikimedia Commons, there should be a list of tools in the left sidebar, where you can find links to mark the file as a copyright violation or request deletion; but it might be best if you posted at Commons:Help desk for help. They could give you advice and help you with whatever needs to be done.
Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 15:23, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

  • help : Now they are deleting that photo within seven days . From which sources can i place his photo in his article ? Ssapkota23 (talk) 19:32, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
    • Copyright is very serious; it can bring legal trouble. So, if it's a violation, it must be deleted, the sooner, the better. You need to either be the person who took the picture, or have the person who owns the copyright (usually the person who took the picture) contact Wikimedia to officially release the copyright. There's also WP:fair use which allows us to upload files to Wikipedia (not Commons) as long as they are used appropriately. But I don't know much about either. Please ask these things at the same help desk at Commons, or at the Teahouse, here in the English Wikipedia. Many, probably most, articles do not use any images at all; this would be why. Regards! Hello Ayonpradhan! Please use the edit summary for first instance, and then the talk page of the article in question if necessary, for communicating content dispute. In this case, I don't care enough either way, at least not anymore, but my preference was based on the MOS guideline at WP:BIO which says These dates (specific day–month–year) are important information about the subject, but if they are also mentioned in the body, the vital year range (in brackets after the person's full name) may be sufficient to provide context, which is what I argued in my edit summary. I would prefer the full dates added to the early life section and only the year range given in the lead sentence, mainly to reduce clutter, but please do as you see fit. I would remind though that you use the dmy format if you indeed choose to re-add the full dates, as that could trigger reversion in itself. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 19:12, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi you dropped me a note about unreviewing this article. Can you tell me why? Thanks. Mccapra (talk) 15:40, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Mccapra, Hi! I figured you must've accidentally marked it when adding the notability tags, so did not intend to drop you any notes. I thought the note only happened if I clicked the "Send message" button. Obviously, I was mistaken; I don't do many unreviews. The reason I unreviewed it is because PRODded articles should remain unreviewed in case they get unprodded, so that they get right back into the queue even if you happen to be unavailable to follow up on them. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:04, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
I had asked the article creator about PAID, they replied with "ok, thanks". I have been waiting to see if they add a disclosure to their userpage ever since, and might have draftified it soon. But, of course, I agree with putting it through deletion as well. Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:08, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi thanks yes I saw your exchange with the creator. My understanding was that if we tag an article for deletion we should mark it as reviewed. If it’s dePRODed a I’ll take it to AfD, and if it passes AfD there’s surely no need to wait for further

review? Mccapra (talk) 16:21, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Mccapra, AFDed articles are marked as reviewed because the community will review it one way or the other. But CSD and PROD could be declined by anybody at any time. Especially for PROD, even the article creator can deprod it, which they can't do with CSD. And the article would be released for indexing as soon as the deletion tags are removed from a reviewed article. I have also many times thought "I wish I could mark it as reviewed with the understanding that I would make sure to take all necessary actions even if it is declined at prod or csd", but that's not how it's done. It's in the reviewer instructions at WP:NPP; and it's in bold so it is easily noticed. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:28, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Actually there was a discussion about deletion and review tagging here that I must admit made my head whirl and maybe I got completely the wrong end of the stick. Mccapra (talk) 16:24, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Mccapra, ah alright! I've replied above to your first reply anyway, because I happened to be working with that version of the page and didn't see this one. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
And rereading the discussion again, I see that it resulted in a modification to Twinkle which now automatically tags an article as reviewed when it is PRODed. Mccapra (talk) 16:30, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Right. I see it’s in bold as you say. Not sure where that leaves the new Twinkle feature but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Mccapra (talk) 16:33, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Mccapra, the twinkle feature was to add the option, but it is unmarked by default as it should be. It gives a hint as to what the NPP consensus is. That is the reviewing is on by default for AFD and off for CSD/PROD.
The problem with accidental reviewing happens when you use the page curation toolbar to add tags to the article. When adding maintenance tags, it provides the dialog box with "mark as reviewed" enabled. So, if you don't notice, it can mark the article as reviewed when you only intend to add a tag and leave. Twinkle doesn't do that. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:43, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
I just tried opening the PROD and CSD windows from Twinkle, and I see no options for marking the page as reviewed, on or off. So, I am confused what that update is supposed to be about. In any case, it's off by default for PROD/CSD, they say, so, that's good. Haha! Usedtobecool ☎️ 17:06, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, they probably meant adding the option to Wikipedia:Twinkle/Preferences. Mccapra, probably a good idea to check your preferences to see if it's in line with consensus best practices. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 17:11, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
Ok now I'm clear that the consensus is not to mark as reviewed if I PROD that's clear. I use the curation tool to add tags and mark as reviewed and I use Twinkle to handle PROD and XFD so I won't mix them up or accidentally do one when I mean to do the other. I find many of the Twinkle preferences much more sophisticated than anything I'd know how to use safely, so I kind of avoid them. Mccapra (talk) 17:50, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

wanted to say thank you

I want to thank you for the current and prior times that you've helped me in the teahouse. I'm sorry this last time I got a bit perturbed by another editor trying to help, and especially thank you for coming back. I didn't notice that on your 2nd posting that it actually created two links and there are some reasons for that (in short i've got a disability that impacts my ability to be as good with a computer as i once was). As many times as I've asked questions in the teahouse I often go there just to read and see how much you help users and thank you for all the times that you might not otherwise be thanked. take care and stay safe. ToeFungii (talk) 20:17, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for these kind words ToeFungii. They are very much appreciated.
Obviously, more than one parties came up short in that thread. I don't usually leave such barebone replies either. I only thought of showing to CiaPan that it can indeed be done. If I had given a more detailed response, the rest of the conversation might not even have been necessary. As I see it, it's a lesson as long as no lasting harm's been done.
You take care, and stay safe too, ToeFungii. Best regards, Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:18, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Redwarn

There is a new script out there called redwarn. It's like a modern version of Twinkle. Thoughts? ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 19:56, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

CAPTAIN MEDUSA, my first instinct was (and remains) to expect trade-offs. For each thing I will like better, I expect I will dislike something. For example, I liked the Navigation popups a lot, but they annoyed the hell out of me, at one or two places; IIRC, the popups blocked the usernames when I would try and hover over to see the block reason of users. That alone was sufficient reason for me to drop them.
Course it's hard to say for sure without testing. Am working with a grandfather computer and a patchy connection, so not really in the mood to do it right away. Have you tried it? If you report good things, I might be motivated to do it sooner Usedtobecool ☎️ 20:59, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey! So this source was previously removed by another user because the source has absolutely nothing to do with Mr. Deepak Rao, nor does it have anything to do with his claim. Simply put, it's a source that means nothing. The 4 individuals in the talk section are clearly either wp:illegit or wp:meatpuppet, if they are not paid advocates.

I invite you to read the entire talk page on the Deepak Rao page as well as the deletion pages for Seema Rao and Deepak Rao.

I'm always happy to have a fresh set of eyes involved!

Warm regards, BasicsOnly (talk) 07:07, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

BasicsOnly, what I said in my edit summary is the extent of what I have to say. I might look into it, sometime, or I might not. Please report users to WP:SPI for socking, start a WP:COIN thread to establish a conflict of interest, or go to WP:ANI for any kind of unacceptable behaviour by an editor; otherwise, I recommend you do not take your accusations against other editors everywhere you go, try to focus on the content rather than editors, except at venues meant specifically to discuss editors. Regarding the Adhikari Clan of Dapcha Draft

Subrat Adhikari (talk) 13:19, 15 May 2020 (UTC) Hi, there. Recently my draft was rejected. Would you please help me in improving the draft whose title is mentioned above in the subject section.

Hello Subrat Adhikari, unfortunately, what you are trying to achieve with Draft:Adhikari Clan of Dapcha isn't really what Wikipedia is about. See WP:NOT, if you did not the last time. Do you have even a single reliable source that has covered the "Adhikari Clan of Dapcha"? From what I can tell, you are just writing about your own family going back a few generations. Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:38, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Nepali and north Indian articles

Oh, I see you're a Nepali and Hindi speaker; cool. I have a few articles on my watchlist on northern Indian or Nepali-related topics which don't get a lot of watchers, like Limbu people, and there are sometimes users editing them who are pretty lackadaisical about sources. Other times, like recently at Chutia people, someone might make an edit based on a source in Bengali (I think; or possibly Assamese; the scripts look the same to me) and it would be helpful to have more eyeballs on these articles to verify that the sources say what they claim. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 21:44, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Mathglot, however did you get to one of my subpages? Anyway, I am assuming that was an accident, and have moved your messages here. Usedtobecool ☎️ 09:18, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for moving them! I have no idea at all how I arrived there. It had to be a link of some sort, as I never would have suspected its existence, otherwise. I guess it will remain a mystery. Mathglot (talk) 10:13, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Mathglot, The reason I don't monitor Limbu people and the related Limbuwan-Gorkha War is because those articles cover a very contentious area and have a lot of non-blue sources or no sources. As you can see I tried stubbing the latter, but gave up. A contentious topic really requires more than one editor dedicated to neutrality to maintain. I have just watchlisted Limbu people, will try to assist from now on. I didn't even know Chutiya people existed. That is an unfortunate spelling. I wonder if it could be moved to Sutiya people, that might curb some amount of vandalism that I imagine must be persistent over there. I have watchlisted that article as well. Cheers! Usedtobecool ☎️ 09:28, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. Btw—what's a non-blue source? Mathglot (talk) 10:13, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
I meant references that don't link to anything online. Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:26, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello Yungcashflo, I assume this is about Draft:Lok Pratap Bista? Paid articles should be pushed through the WP:AFC process, not created to mainspace directly. Please read WP:COI and WP:PAID, then make necessary disclosures as per the instructions there. Then, I will happily provide you with my analysis of the sources and the manner of their usage in the draft. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 15:26, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

help

...Is it legal to ask you to help me expand my article Ssapkota23 (talk) 08:46, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello again Ssapkota23, it is legal but I've got a lot on my plate right now. Plus, if I seriously edited Shirish Devkota, it's more likely to shrink than expand which you won't appreciate, or if this is about the draft, I must say the subject doesn't appear notable just yet, so it is unlikely that well become an article anytime soon. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 06:46, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

.... ☎️ i was not talking about both . i understood about the draft and i am doing research on Shirish Devkota and you've already helped me on that article , but i am requesting you to help me expanding Pashupati Sharma. i would also like to thank you on you very very impressive work on Bishnu Majhi being Nepalese Folk Song lover i was really happy and impressed. i am learning how to expand articles following you. but the main problem is you find sources so easily but i do not. i previously tried to expand Bishnu Majhi but couldn't find sources. and your quick replies are always appreciated Ssapkota23 (talk) 07:01, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Ssapkota23, I expect Sharma should have a ton of sources too, probably not all of them online. I see scope for expansion from the sources already listed; particularly the Kathmandu Post one. It talks about his albums, his songs, his tours and his personal life. There is a lot in there. You could also add Chhinnalata Award:12, and election to Duet Song Academy 3. It will be some time before I can do more. Sorry, and good luck! Usedtobecool ☎️ 07:41, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

..... Thankyou !! last question how to search for reliable sources and how to determine if the source is reliable or not so that i can cite only reliable sources to my articles Ssapkota23 (talk) 10:51, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Ssapkota23, I was once working on a list; it's at User:Usedtobecool/PSN, see if it helps. Reliable is a source we can trust. For example, we can trust newspapers and magazines from Kantipur Publication. But we can't trust a random guy on youtube. We can trust a youtube video from a verified account of a trusted TV channel. Reliable sources have editorial boards. To fill in the details, we can use random news websites provided they list an editorial team on their about page. To count for notability, we need to know they are reputable sources like national newspapers. For books, they are generally reliable if they are published by a publishing company; because the editors at the company choose only quality submissions and edit the books before publishing. Self-published books are not reliable because anyone can pay to get published. But if it is a self-published book from an expert like Baburam Acharya or Satya Mohan Joshi, it is reliable even if it self-published. So, consider how the source came into being and who is the source of the source, and decide whether you trust it. I trust Kathmandu Post and Himalayan Times, I think Setopati and Online Khabar are good, but I don't know who is publishing those websites and so I have to be more careful. I know lexlimbu.com or texasnepal.com or xnepali.net are published by one or two people to make money from ads, so they don't care about journalism, so I can use them to inform what to look for in reliable sources, but I can't trust them or use them on Wikipedia. Does that help? With some experience, it becomes easy. By now, most of the times, I can tell how good a source is by just reading the document.
To search for more sources on singers, find out when the singer might have been in the news. Then from the tools on google search, set the time range and use relevant keywords. For example, for Pashupati Sharma, find out when the "America yahi" song was released; then set the year in google search and use terms like "lok gayak Pashupati Sharma" (in Nepali, not English) or "folk singer Pashupati Sharma", and similar keywords combintion; such as "Pashupati Sharma Kalika award", "Pashupati Sharma Hits FM award", "Pashupati Sharma Campus Padna Jani", etc. add "-youtube.com" to remove youtube results. And so on. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:33, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
There is also Wikipedia:Reliable_sources_checklist; some people find it helpful. Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:35, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

COVID-19

Hey, you are doing a great job with adding and editing the COVID-19 wiki page. But, I was using the 'official' Situation Report by MoHP. It took almost 1 hr to fix the data and you changed everything based on the Kathmandu Post source. The MoHP data shows 77 in Jhapa not 78, till the date. Anyways, you are doing a nice job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chomolungma8848 (talkcontribs) 15:13, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Chomolungma8848, I did see that that happened. I will try to take your update over. Will take some time though; dinner time. Great to see you back, btw! I started editing a lot in the past few days because many regular updaters stopped editing. So, it's a relief to see you back! Cheers! Usedtobecool ☎️ 15:24, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Usedtobecool, I am trying to catch the updates. Also, can you please remove the left-aligned text on table with districts? For some reason, it is difficult to publish the changes made with visual editor when the left alignment is applied. It is so much easier to update the numbers with visual editor. And, great job with adding the timeline from Worldometer.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Chomolungma8848 (talkcontribs)
That was Inimesh actually; they created it, added it and seem to be updating it. I have restored the default alignment. There may be a way to do it such that visual editor doesn't trip up, I just don't know all the markup. We can restore it back to left-align once all districts are already on the list. Regards! Merge

Thanks for your close at Talk:USS_Theodore_Roosevelt_UFO_incidents#Combine_and_rewrite_to_avoid_fringe. There is a draft ready to go at User:JoJo_Anthrax/sandbox which effectively combines the articles. It requires a new title: "Pentagon UFO videos" is the article title proposed and accepted by myself and JoJo_Anthrax. I'll attempt the merge, but please check my work and feel free to correct any problems, particularly on merging the Talk pages. Regards, - LuckyLouie (talk) 15:30, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello LuckyLouie, nice to meet you! The talk page looks fine, at least to me. I am sure if there's anything missing, whoever is knowledgeable enough to notice it will be able to fix it too.
It looks like the sandbox had contributions from three editors but you copy-paste moved it? WP:Moving the page would have been better. It might be best if you tagged the new article for speedy deletion per WP:G7 and/or WP:G6, and properly moved the sandbox after it is deleted, especially if all the revisions of that sandbox are about this article. Alternatively, and this one is likely to take longer, please see if you can get an administrator to perform a WP:Histmerge.
The sandbox article itself seems to have copy-pastes from the articles that were merged, added without proper attribution. If and when the issue of history is fixed, by properly moving it or performing a histmerge, you had better also make a null edit to the new article to add an edit summary, something like: "The previous edits of this article incorporated text from that page and that other page. Please see the history of those pages for authorship information."
For future reference, it's best to refer to WP:PROMERGE and think about how each point may be relevant to the merger at hand. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 16:48, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Right, yikes, this is more complex than I realized. I placed Histmerge requests at the top of the new article, hopefully an admin can repair the cutandpaste move. - LuckyLouie (talk) 17:15, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
LuckyLouie, better not edit that sandbox before the histmerge is done, that'll make it easier for the admin. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 17:20, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Michalakis Bousis

What are you doing? Why you change the name in a fault version? The right name is Michalis! Why you did not ask first? GRanemos1 (talk) 11:05, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

GRanemos1, that's the only name given in the only source you have used on the article; how is anybody to know that the correct name is something else, or that they are even the same person? Don't worry, if I am wrong, it is easily undone, but we need sources actually supporting the title that you want for the article. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 11:08, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
The right name is Michalis and of course should be undone. The sources have a wrong name yet. The right name is at AEK Athens FC official website aekfc.gr, at transfermarkt (i know is not a reliable source but is correct at this name) transfermarkt.com, at agonasport.com and at many other sources (most are in Greek). There are no one in Greece named Michalakis or Michailakis. It not exist this name. GRanemos1 (talk) 11:26, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

Not really. It's just me punching out the trivial castle stubs to decrease the backlog number. This one is hard because it's mostly translation vios. Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20110727 is fairly easy - no checking is required, just presumptive removals. It's absolutely massive, and you could be forgiven if you want to do something else - Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Mushroom9 perhaps? Some of these are so blatantly copyvios due to abnormal formatting that you can just presumptively remove them. MER-C 16:15, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Nepal geo stubs

Hi there! I have sent the "Terhathum" categories to speedy renaming, and I changed the upmerged stub template, so we're good to go on that. I will nominate Mechi along with Janakpur and Sagarmatha once I've reassigned their articles to the according districts. (Job security...) As for AWB, I don't know how it works as I don't use it; there was once a report that listed redlinked stub templates, but I don't know how to generate a new list.
