I would note that the preferred term for the content of the encyclopedia is "article", not "page" which has a broader meaning. 331dot (talk) 14:27, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Erin Williams[edit]

Hi. I just did a pretty significant edit on the Erin Williams draft. There was a lot of content related to the issues that Williams addresses rather than Williams or her work. I think that's what the previous reviewer was referring to when they cited the tone of the article as a reason for its decline.

I tried not to change the intent of your words, but I'm not sure that I succeeded. Please give it a look and change as you see fit (but be sure you are sticking strictly to Erin Williams and her book). Feel free to ping me when you've edited the draft and I will review it. Thanks! Thanks so much for your edits and feedback, Julie. That was helpful.
Is this paragraph problematic for the tone? :: Additionally, reviews of Commute describe the memoir as "a necessary addition to the medium of graphic narrative, long dominated by men." Commute adds to a small but growing genre of graphic memoirs authored by women that focus on diving into vulnerable aspects of their lives. This genre includes work by cartoonists Ellen Forney, Teresa Wong, and Lucy Knisley. Commute contributes to diversifying the medium of graphic narratives, highlighting an all-too-common story experienced by women. ::
Thank you for reviewing the draft. Unicornnerd (talk) 16:58, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am looking forward to reading (experiencing) Commute. I know it is an important book.
The tone of the paragraph is fine; it's really about the content. It needs to be about Erin and the book, specifically. Are there reviews that address the writing or the illustration (or the subject matter as it relates to Erin, personally)? Also, be specific if you include reviews. For example: "In a 2019 review in The Guardian, Kristin Radtke wrote that Williams' illustrations of her body were 'rough' and 'reality-based', noting that the material was 'difficult and sometimes shame-filled'. (Again, just an example - I have not read the other reviews used as references.)
Hope that is helpful! Julie JSFarman (talk) 18:40, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense. Your explanation about how to use the reviews really helps. Unicornnerd (talk) 19:44, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
