You were right to remove the removal of the CSD at Muhammed Memić. However, I believe the CSD was in error, placed on a vandalized version of the page. I've restored what I belie is the correct version. I'm mentioning this to you, because I won't be surprised if the IP tries again, and if you see it, I don't want to you be surprised the article is now about a footballer.--SPhilbrickT 11:26, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. :) Tiggerjay (talk) 15:04, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Um

Did I say you could give me a message on my talk page? Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:30, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Yep, sadly you did when you started making personal attacks against other contributors. :) Tiggerjay (talk) 07:35, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
It is my talk page. Do not edit it again. Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:37, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Well it may be your page, but you do not own your talk page, and it is designed for communication between contributors. Tiggerjay (talk) 07:40, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm paranoid dude. I don't trust people :/ Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:41, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps you can explain your apparent personal attacks here and here? Tiggerjay (talk) 07:45, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I just find it egotistical and self-serving to create a page about yourself on Wikipedia. Look at the account. It was obviously him trying to get attention. I just found that unethical and I spoke up about it. Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:47, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Well there are more civil ways for going about it instead of what appears to be personal attacks. There are policies in place for shameless self promotion, but there is no value in simply labeling him Tiggerjay (talk) 07:49, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
He's a football player . Fotball players get great treatment from everyone. I felt it was my duty to put him in his place. Civility when it comes to football players.... is a crime to decency. I will not stand idly while people are attacking me and worshipping the jocks. Do you understand where I'm coming from? Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:54, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Was Byron Wilson attacking you? Please explain? 07:56, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
No he obviously was not. But when I was younger I was bullied by jocks and preps. I just like serving it back to them. Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 07:58, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Well wikipedia is not the forum for that. 07:59, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
I know and I apologize. Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 08:00, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Can you tell that I am not all bad? I feel like you are an ally of mine. I trust you Tiggerjay. Wasabi Wasabi Wasabi (talk) 08:23, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

I note the warning, but suggest you should be flagging the other participants as well - see the discussion in Talk:Lee Rhiannon. I have attempted to remain constructive in spite of a fair amount of personal abuse from people who choose the conceal their bias behind pseudonyms and argue by assertion. Chrismaltby (talk) 13:05, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Absolutely, I will provide them a quick warning as well, however by quick summary you appear to be making the largest number of changes and/or reverts over the past 30 days to this article. I understand that you may feel that you hold the correct viewpoint in the matter, but it seems like there is no clear consensus on the issue. There are several things you can do to constructively improve this article without getting into an edit war. First always try to remain calm. Then review dispute resolution which provides several options for you. If there is abuse or vandalism (more than just a disagreement) then involve an administrator. If there is just a conflict of views or lack of consensus, sometimes just walking away from the article for a couple of weeks can really help. Then come back and pickup the issue again in the article discussion page. Tiggerjay (talk) 15:15, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Splits

Great! I've been working on the split backlog for something like a year now, and it's great that someone else is prepared to get involved - the list has come down to something manageable, and should be able to be cleared up to recent requests with just a little more effort. It can be a time-consuming and thankless task, so anyone who is prepared to help out is more than welcomed! Well done for the work you have done so far - and I'm pleased to see that you are proceeding with care, yet are also bold enough to make a decision. SilkTork *Tea time 11:34, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Silk. I have been looking to expand the ways that I contribute to WP. I usually spend a lot of time either fighting vandalism, or helping out over at the helpdesk and COIN, but last night everything was very slow. So I jumped on the backlog and started clearing things out over there. I started with move requests but found most of them required admin rights due to pre-existing redirect pages being in place. So I moved over to splits which appears to be moderately backlogged, yet something I could actually perform with non-admin rights. It was a nice change from helpdesk which is a bit light on the thought process, and COIN which takes a lot more effort, so splits were a nice medium. :) Tiggerjay (talk) 15:07, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Keyser Blocked

Hi Tiggerjay, the actual admin recognition of it can be found on the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. If you check his talk page now, he has been blocked for a month. So much for his integrity.U21980 (talk) 16:36, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Here is the wikilink: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Keyser Sözetigho Also thanks for your contributions on the NXIVM page (on the actual page and discussion)! U21980 (talk) 16:40, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
While you may be correct in this specific matter (SP), your still need to keep your interactions with other editors civil (read it) even in the face of non-civil or abusive editors. Your edits boarder on personal attacks (read it) and as such distract from the issue at hand. The dispute over the article should be in regards to the facts of the article and relevant references, and has nothing to do with the credibility of the editor themselves. As such, please avoid distorting the dispute by introducing attacks, slander, libel or other nonsense. Thanks Tiggerjay (talk) 16:51, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I apologize for my conduct Tiggerjay and assure you that as of this moment, I will not make any such posts again. Thanks again for your help on the NXIVM pages and Raniere pages, I am hoping that now that Keyser and Link are gone, that we can resolve to all work together, build consensus for edits, and make NPOV contributions. Speedy deletion declined: Muhammed Memić

Hello Tiggerjay, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Muhammed Memić, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:08, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Question about Week Ban on NXIVM Page

Hi Tiggerjay, in light of the recent actions taken by admin in regards to a few users, I was wondering if the week ban should still be encouraged. I know that the remaining users on this page seem to be dedicated towards working together on the page. Please let me know what you think!U21980 (talk) 02:26, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Honestly, I'd prefer this voluntary ban to stay in place for one week. There are a couple of reasons for this: (1) I think even the "dedicated" users need a bit of time to cool down, and step away from the issue for a while; (2) it would be a bit biased to simply let editing continue now that some of the editors have been blocked after we agreed to not edit for a week; (3) what I have found encourging this before is that after about a week or so, a lot of the tension has broken, and users slowly return to the article, instead of agreesively jumping back into the mix -- things are still fresh enough that if we were to resume editing, I woudl expect a mass flurry and the possibility of a new edit war would be high. This is not specifically focused towards a specific editor, but rather experience with heated disputes. Tiggerjay (talk) 05:44, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Threats on my page

I'm assuming the editor that I reported on the coi board is now threataning me on my talk page, and thinks he's outing me. I suppose I should do a check user request? Guyonthesubway (talk) 03:18, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

I have asked for your talk page to be semi-protected, which is unusual, but will prevent any new or IP editors from posting, and possibly outing. I have also asked for an immediate block on the IP editor who OUTED you. Do you have an suspicions on who the user who is outing you might be? Please e-mail it to me (link on my user page) do not post it on WP directly. Tiggerjay (talk) 06:26, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
Strike that last part, I know who you are implicating, and have reported it for checkuser. Tiggerjay (talk) 06:43, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
The IP editor was blocked for 1 week, and your page has been protected as well, so neither IP or new users can post on your page. The checkuser is still pending. Tiggerjay (talk) 07:02, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Glendale High School

Hi Tiggerjay; I'm not meaning to edit war with you, but I didn't think the list of award winning students at Glendale High School (Glendale, California) met notability guidelines, including those laid out at WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI. If you think there's adequate rationale to include them I'll let it go. Cheers, 76.248.147.81 (talk) 02:41, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

How exactly is pointing out a convicted rapist/murderer is, in fact, a rapist, vandalism?

Should I add a link to any of the numerous articles as a citation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.255.29.99 (talk) 03:28, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

When you add new information about a person being a rapist without any credible source, it can be easily seen as vandalism and a personal attack against the subject. It is highly recommended that you cite a credible and verifiable source when adding such information. Otherwise it appears to be either original research or vandalism. Tiggerjay (talk) 03:30, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I suppose it _might_ appear that way to someone who didn't actually click on the link first before assuming vandalism and reverting. Whatever, reference added. 76.255.29.99 (talk) 03:42, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing up your concern here, however please see the notes left on your talk page by several other editors concerning the polices relating to external links. What you are adding appears to be inappropraite and against policy. Please take a moment to review these policies instead of continuing to re-add that information. Certainly you have done hard work to contribute but it does not appear that you're contributing appropraitely. Thanks, Tiggerjay (talk) 05:24, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Talk-page history

Walter de Brouwer

Tiggerjay, I am merely trying to reverse a case of vandalism. It's very nice of you to reverse my changes, but if you had taken the trouble of reading through, you'd see that it's just made a complete hash of a perfectly good biography. The person who vandalised this article has a personal interest in doing so. Who I am or what interest I have in Mr De Brouwer is moot. There is nothing inaccurate of non-factual in my original bio. If there was, then I should have been asked to fix it. What makes Jokestress's changes valid? All the 'explanations' on the talk page? If that's how you want this justified, then you shall have it. But the old format will have to stay. Not this hash that's currently on. Asterysk (talk) 09:16, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Asterysk: Thank you for taking time to reply, and I understand you are trying to make the article better, however while the points you make may make logical sense to you, there are specific policies which govern how wikipedia works. Along those policies is that editing articles which you have a conflict of interest (policy link) in is discouraged, and if you do have such a conflict of interest, you should disclose it - we're not looking for you to disclose that you are in fact the subject of the article or any other personally identifiable information. But rather, simply stating that you have a conflict of interest. To that end, it is significant what your "interests" are and the point is not "moot". Additionally, you do not own (policy link) the article, nor any revision thereof. As far as your charges about how "I" want it, would be inappropriate, I edit using the BOLD method (link). As part of that, you are encouraged to make edit, if those are removed/reverted, then you are encouraged to discuss it on the talk page. I also encourage you to discuss it there. Please look over the policies references here and on your talk page. If there are specific elements you'd like to discuss, please address them in specific and we can see how we can help you. Tiggerjay (talk) 04:10, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Tiggerjay, I take all your points. All I want to do is to make this into a more organised and better worded biography. I have no conflict of interest whatsoever and apart from knowing the individual in question well enough to attempt a bio, there is no other connection. I'll work on this and sort it out. And of course, happy to accept any help that may come my way. Asterysk (talk) 04:43, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

(Non-standard) cosmology related issues

Hi Tiggerjay, I just noted your balanced attitude towards 198.202.202.22 (talk) on WP:COIN and the following edits on Wikipedia:Fringe theories/Noticeboard/Archive 27, so I thought you may help me out in a similar but “anti-situation”. After some 5 years editing wp, I have had some bad luck with my edits, but never got the skill in using all the wp tools, tags and rules as this and some other IP:s recently active here. When trying to voice my strong suspicion on the skilled editor behind at least four of these IP:s, unknowing, I got myself blocked for outing, as you point out. This because he used his real name as user-ID, masked as jps, at the time when he was blocked indefinitely in March 2011. Before that he was ScienceApologist and now appearing as VanishedUser315159. I do not question his expertise in standard cosmology, but take it he is still banned from editing WP for rough treatment of opponents? I recognize his way of editing, choice of subjects and reverts, so I planned to try a WP:SPI. Do you have any other better suggestion and if not how should it be addressed? /User:Kurtan 89.160.124.74 (talk) 16:01, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Research into the user pages of Wikipedians: Invitation to participate

Greetings,

My name is John-Paul and I am a student with the University of Alberta specializing in Communications and Technology.

I would like to include your Wikipedia user page in a study I am doing about how people present themselves online. I am interested in whether people see themselves in different ways, online and offline. One of the things I am looking at is how contributors to Wikipedia present themselves to each other through their user pages. Would you consider letting me include your user page in my study?

With your consent, I will read and analyze your user page, and ask you five short questions about it that will take about ten to fifteen minutes to answer. I am looking at about twenty user pages belonging to twenty different people. I will be looking at all user pages together, looking for common threads in the way people introduce themselves to other Wikipedians.

I hope that my research will help answer questions about how people collaborate, work together, and share knowledge. If you are open to participating in this study, please reply to this message, on your User Talk page or on mine. I will provide you with a complete description of my research, which you can use to decide if you want to participate.

Thank-you,
