Jon Balcourt[edit]

WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a legitimate reason to include non-notable individuals. If you can properly cite verifiable, reliable sources which confirm the notability of this individual, you're welcome to try again. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 15:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those sources would probably have bias towards those plays which they might advertise. An interview might be useful if the interviewer or the publication in which it was printed is notable. But more than one of these types of sources would be needed. How about independent nontrivial press coverage,s such as a review in a newspaper, or notable website? Playbill is notable, but had nothing]. Broadwayworld has been used on Wikipedia before. There [were pictures, but no bio. I'm on the fence about this: I think he's on the cusp of notability, but could easily get deleted without very succinct and clear representations of his notability is very VERY reliable sources. I'm heading to lunch right now, but leave me a note if you'd like to continue with this. There's an article Idol: The Musical, but that's poor as well. It all needs work. Cheers! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:23, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good work on those references! The more you find, feel free to add them, especially if they support notability. I see you've recreated the article as Jon balcourt. I moved it to its proper title (Jon Balcourt) and added an inuse tag to stave off the ravenous deletionists. After that it would be up to the community to decide if he's notable enough. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:25, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:V any unverifiable information can be challenged and removed, even if you talked to him personally. (Technically, that's called original research.) You can put it in there, but don't flip out if someone feels the need to challenge it. If you know him, you could tell him to put the info someplace it's obvious he controls. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:30, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Be aware, also, that if you work with this guy, there's a major risk of conflict of interest and/or a biased point of view. You should probably step back and let other people take over here who don't have these problems of being too close to the subject. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:38, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to your own post, you have worked with Balcourt; he is not merely a casual acquaintance. Thus, the language of our conflict-of-interest guidelines applies: "material that appears to promote the interests or visibility of an article's author, its author's family members, employer, associates, or their business or personal interests" (emphasis added). --Orange Mike | Talk 15:33, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've never worked professionally in theater, but my wife's IATSE; I understood that you were referring to working with him in the collegial, not the employer/employee, sense. Nonetheless, that association and those conversations carry a risk of non-neutral point of view, since you have associated with him professionally; that's all I meant. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:25, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
