Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II[edit]

I just want to thank you for your quick precision in addressing the issues in the GA process. I appreciate it very much. :) —DAP388 (talk) 02:49, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about removing the two images for the jukebox and movie, and then removing the overuse tag. Do you think cutting down to six non-free images would be appropriate for an article that size? Torchiest talkedits 16:19, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

God of War: Chains of Olympus[edit]

Greetings. I note that you are "semi-retired", and as such may not have the time for this. A user (JDC808) has reverted your change here ([1]) and is now displaying ownership issues, a la his attempted action here ([2]). I could use some help in managing his edits across all the GOW articles, as while this editor means well, many of them are rather fannish and he has trouble seeing it. Many thanks Bluerim (talk) 00:34, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Teancum knows of the revert and addressed the issue clearly at the GA review and we further discussed the matter. That action was not ownership, but a mere fact that I asked you two or three times to discuss changes, and you did not (which an administrator made a comment). The fannish issues that you refer to (probably most recently with the paragraph about references to characters that did not appear in the game) was based on the Batman: Arkham Asylum page (which Teancum has worked heavily on) which referred to characters that did not appear in the game (e.g. Though not visible himself, Mr. Freeze's special frozen cell can be found in-game, with previous mentions to his escape from the asylum; similar cells can be found for characters such as Two-Face and Calendar Man.) Here's a direct link to that section, paragraph two, which I had tried to point out to you many times. I don't know if you looked at it, or if you just brushed it aside, because your disagreement with it seemed like you did not look at it. There would be no problems managing edits (or at least not as many) if we could discuss things, like asked and advised. JDC808 (talk) 09:13, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Passing along the good news[edit]

Since you had input to the GAN of God of War: Chains of Olympus, I thought I would inform you that it has passed and is now a GA. Thanks for your help and suggestions. JDC808 (talk) 04:05, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quick note re. Dwarf Fortress[edit]

You might want to just fail the GAN: ResMar hasn't edited the main space for over 2 weeks (couple of user talk edits) and is apparently on sabbatical. My interest has been piqued by this game but I'm not sure about delving in to try and clean up and reference the gameplay section without even having attempted to play it. bridies (talk) 13:56, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm completely unfamiliar with this topic but believe you may know a thing or two that can help get this new article jump started. Its creator has been requesting my help, but I'm really stuck for ideas of what to say or do next. Perhaps you can take a look, assess the sources, and properly adjust the maintenance tags accordingly. A good overall review and copy edit would probably be very helpful as well. I look forward to seeing your name in appear in the revision history. Thanks in advance .  -- WikHead (talk) 18:07, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit]

Regarding the feedback to Minecraft, instead of marking requests for information that better belongs on minecraftwiki.net as resolved, it might be a better idea to mark it as unhelpful and hide it. • Jesse V.(talk) 16:04, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Mortalkombat9screenshot.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mortalkombat9screenshot.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Add Polygon to VGReviews[edit]

Hi, you recently participated in this discussion about additions to the VGReviews template. Do you mind clarifying your opinion on the inclusion of Polygon (website) in the template? Polygon has been around for over a year now; they were provisionally called "Vox Games" when they were still a subsection of parent website The Verge (owned by Vox Media). Polygon was only separated into its own website four months ago but the editorial staff has been together for much longer, hence the confusion in the discussion about its "established-ness". Hey Teancum

I added some information about the song Crucified that you removed. Crucified appeared on the dance video game Just Dance 4. This you can verify easily. Wiki's guidelines stipulates that sales figures from the manufacturers themselves should not be used. I added sales figures from a reliable third part source NOT a manufacturers site. I really don't see why you removed this information and I suggest that you put it back in.

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre[edit]

Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Edit removal, just curious.[edit]

Hey there,

I was just wondering what was wrong with my edit on Crazy Taxi? I was just trying to explain that there is an older game similar to it, even with some of the same features, which it may have been derived from. Even if the games have no links and Crazy Taxi knows nothing of Taxi Driver, I still thought it was worth a mention as a similar game. Much like how other game articles have mention of a similar game.

There is little to no information on the game...the only way to really know about it is to either play it, or see videos of it. That is the only way I could prove it's existence, other articles on the net have blank info on it, but I still wanted to try and make the comparison. What was wrong with what I did?

I suppose the game could have benefited from it's own article, but there is so little on it so I thought a comparison mention would just be best. The games are quite similar.

Amaranthus for Asmodeus (talk) 02:57, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ok, my bad on the link.

But I still thought it was a piece of history that was worth mentioning, as the concept was done over a decade before Crazy Taxi...famed for doing it first, when it didn't.

It's a shame the other reason is "Not enough" media coverage, something can still be important even if the media doesn't see it.

What would happen if I did manage to find enough on it, like proper articles and make a page on it? The videos were the only way I could prove it.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xegethra (talkcontribs) 06:18, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of Need for Speed: The Run characters[edit]

Hi, just letting you know I've deprodded List of Need for Speed: The Run characters. I'm not sure whether I don't understand your rationale or just don't agree, but I think applying WP:N to articles that've been split from other articles is sort of questionable. For example, List of Star Wars characters isn't notable in and of itself, but so long as Star Wars is notable and the volume of content justifies a split per WP:SIZESPLIT there's no problem with having it around (and not having a list of characters somewhere would be detrimental to our coverage of Star Wars). Obviously the Need for Speed article is a mess; I'll try to trim some of the fancruft later which I suppose might leave it short enough that upmerging wouldn't be a problem. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 09:04, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Zero and Wikipedia:V[edit]

I notice you reverted my recent edit to Zero (game engine). I appreciate your comment about being unable to verify that kdmiller3 is the Ken Miller in question, but this was not the only justification for my edit. I had written a comment dismantling the Making Of video on one of the relevant talk pages but I must have neglected to post it. In the video, programmer Adam Batters describes Zero as being "derived from the engine we used for Battlezone", saying that they extracted the bits they liked. This makes it quite clear that Zero must have come after Battlezone, not before.

On another note, I have recently taken up curating the Battlezone Magazine, which has been used as a source here before for its interviews with developers. It's possible that I could use an interview with Ken to clear up the confusion and ascertain the history of Pandemic's engines for all of the affected games (Dark Reign 2, Battlezone 2, SW: Clone Wars and SW: Battlefront/Battlefront 2). Sound good? ~AHadley 15:47, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

GameToast again[edit]

I don't know if you got my message on SWBFGamers, but I haven't been on GameToast since Wednesday because I was trying to fix an issue where I would not receive notification e-mails. I found out the e-mail account assigned to my GameToast account had been changed to "junk@gmail.com" so I went to change it to my yahoo e-mail address. Because it deactivates my account and sends a revalidation e-mail, that is why I haven't been on - I haven't received any valdiation e-mails. Yahoo must be blocked by GameToast. I have two alternative e-mail addresses that can be used if you are able to get into my account on GT and change it so I can receive validation e-mails.

BTW, I did notice people were posting about the conversions from SWBFEA. Thanks for clearing the air on that one: I have done what I set out to do with those models now and have no intention of releasing them on GT or using them in a mod: it was just to see how far the engine could be pushed. Seems the engine's model handling depends on what your system is like. Gistech (talk) 07:54, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. Aside from the gametoast e-mail is ther another way to get in touch with guru? Should I try an alternate e-mail address? Gistech (talk) 15:52, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, at current unless the issue resolves itself somewhow the only way for me to get in touch with guru through GameToast would be for me to break the rule about duplicate accounts, go in there and ask him to fix my original account and delete the duplicate or delete the original account and start from scratch. However, that's pretty much going to get me banned from there. Gistech (talk) 07:53, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
