Montreal[edit]

Hi, you may have noticed that I reverted your edit to Montreal. One of the cornerstones of Wikipedia is maintaining a neutral-point-of-view; while I'm sure that Montreal is a wonderful place to visit, we need to be careful with language like "is the best" etc. An acceptable alternative is to cite statements made my publications or organizations that are verifiable. Here's a made-up example: "In 2004, The ABC Travel Guide rated Montreal as the most beautiful city in the world." Also, it's always a good idea to put a short note in the edit summary regarding your contribution. Cheers, OhNoitsJamieTalk 00:03, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR[edit]

Hi, just a friendly reminder to be aware of the three-revert-rule, which is intended to prevent "edit wars." As you can see by the edit history on Montreal, I'm not the only user who doesn't think that the extended info on Bombardier belongs in the Montreal article. You might want to refocus your efforts on the Bombardier main article (though that article does seem to be pretty comprehensive as it is). Cheers, OhNoitsJamieTalk 00:50, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images and Copyrights[edit]

Hi Street04, welcome to Wikipedia!

Based on the Police article, I think you may be having some trouble with images. You are uploading them fine, the problem is, images need to be free of any copyright issues. For example, a Wikipedian can not just grab an image from the Internet, upload here and use it. That sucks, I know. I'm working on a biography right now, and I can't find any allowable images to use.

As long as someone uploads unsourced images, other people will remove them, so it is important to say where the images come from. Here is some information about images. Hope this helps. If you have any questions please ask.

Please type in ~~~~ when you make a comment on a talk page, that way people will know who wrote the comment. Thanks! RockinRobTalk 00:14, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to the editors below for clarifying what I said. I didn't mean to imply that you could use an image if you just stated where it came from. RockinRobTalk 01:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Google image searches show that all of your recently uploaded images appear to have been copied directly from various websites. To use them on Wikipedia, you'd need to obtain permission from each of the owners (unless the site identifies them as free for non-commercial use). OhNoitsJamieTalk 00:33, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:RCMP-CH-00298.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RCMP-CH-00298.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. tomf688 (talk - email) 01:10, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From Six[edit]

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article From Six may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable, with reference to reliable published sources. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. -WarthogDemon 04:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia isn't like myspace. We don't have articles here about bands that are brand-spanking new. The band, at the moment, doesn't meet any of our criteria (see WP:MUSIC). If the band is able to get a label though, and sell some albums, and become notable in the following years, an article will almost certainly be made. For now though, it doesn't have a place here. : / -WarthogDemon 05:00, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:From SiX.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:From SiX.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

If We Did That[edit]

We would get over 200 band pages per day. Sorry, but we can't. (And please reply here.) -WarthogDemon 05:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
