Excuse me, but I have rolled back your edits after noticed that you have altered information that was sourced and appears to be wrong at first glance. Could you please explain your edits and provide some information on connection, as I think a conflict of interest might be present here. Even matters like birth place as 'Rockport, Massachusetts' which is sourced to the MTV bio was changed to Dover, New Hampshire without providing a reference and goes directly against a reliable source. Thank you for your note. Steel Derrick Music is Nelson Bragg's record label and am with him now updating his page. He just looked at the MTV bio and it is incorrect. Nelson grew up in Rockport, Massachusetts but was born in Dover, New Hampshire. His ReverbNation biography shows his birthplace correctly as Dover, New Hampshire. Thank you. I don't mean to confuse or undo all your work, but the easiest way to fix the problem would have been to simply undo my undo which would have restored all the edits thus far. The edit history is kept so the material is easily reinserted without manually re-adding them one by one. Rather then risk messing things up, I'll let you have the option of going to this comparison and selecting this specific diff and clicking the edit button and saving the page to restore it. Nullifying future changes in the process.

Also if it isn't too much trouble, could you please simply give a heads up to WP:COIN, which is the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard. While we are all volunteers, I only noticed your changes because of an earlier issue raised elsewhere and I had the page on my watchlist. I'm all for correcting inaccuracies (I'm working on several articles myself), but as business with a direct tie to the subject, a bit of a third-party oversight is not a bad idea. Given that Wikipedia isn't a platform for publicity, editors tend to have a very knee-jerk reaction to businesses or interested parties. I don't see any of that here, and if the information is wrong please present it in a reliable source (Like your label's bio page or elsewhere) just to make things right. I'll be glad to help out, I just saw the MTV information being switched and it didn't match the source. I'm a bit of an experienced editor, but I do this a labor of love as with all other editors. I must also state, I have no idea who Nelson Bragg really is, but I'll learn from just lightly overseeing the development and corrections. Those tags are placed by other editors who know or suspect a problem, but lack the expertise or time to fix it. When it is corrected you can remove them. Things like {{citation needed}} are used to indicate that someone questions this and requests a citation to confirm the material is true, but doesn't doubt it enough to remove it outright. Talk Attention Orangemike - Am new to Wikipedia and understand and completely respect the mission and importance of encyclopedic accuracy. Was attempting to update the musician page in the style of other musician pages already on Wikipedia. The issue is the user name, which is why I suggested you go to COIN about it, because I am not an expert and they would have helped sort this out, without the need to block you first, but everyone is different. From what I've reviewed in the edits made after our discussion, the edits themselves were not really problematic. It was the user name. I'll stick around I guess and help try to sort things out, but either way, the matter of who you are and who you represent need to come out. Businesses found editing their clients pages are typically blocked first and make more requests through COIN. Considering that this is a BLP, and the previous comments checked out, I didn't feel a pressing need to report this. I was hoping that you would follow my suggestion and go to WP:COIN because it gives the impression you want to actually fix the inaccuracies and don't want to advertise. While I am not familiar with OrangeMike, the procedure is actually really common given the situation. It's part policy and part concern as mentioned before. Today was planning to work through the tags. Thought a business name would add credibility to the updates, not the opposite. He has a web page already for promotion. The intention was to make the page accurate, up to date, and include information as provided on other musician sample pages. The connection is the problem, choosing the name of a company is probably more so, it I like soft drinks I wouldn't take the name 'Coca Cola Co.' because of the association and violate the username policy. If you have a COI, try to address it and relay the changes through other editors for scrutiny. If you make the changes and are found to have an undisclosed or unaddressed COI the entire changes (even positive ones) will likely be reverted. As they have in this case. And you don't have to be knowledgeable to edit things; citing the source from where you got the information is the best way to add content to Wikipedia. No one close to the subject or tied to the subject should (ideally) update the page. See WP:COI. Editing things related to place of business, family, and other close connections are common examples, but we even had a major discussion on people editing pages about their own ethnicity. Long story short, yes you can edit a page about your ethnicity or your country, but its probably best to remain neutral and distant. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 23:56, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Ironically, yes. I'm in the process of researching and updating articles about defunct companies as part of my research. I hope to fix and cover Irwin Toy this weekend. Never owned a toy of theirs, but I found out a lot about the company by researching something else. I do a lot of updating around Wikipedia and even more maintenance on existing things. WP:COIN is a board for people to bring up issues with conflicts, typically after they wind up in your current situation. Edit requests are more often made by people with a COI, something which I am not particularly knowledgeable about. But given that you are 'blocked' you cannot edit anything outside of this talk page until it is lifted. Which means you will need to wait to be unblocked by an admin. They can help better than I.
