Clare Marsh

Hi, although I read Hilary Pyle's article on her, I am still a little worried that a copy edit I did might not be as you intended. It is the reference to Anglo-Irish ancestry/aristocracy in the Early life and family section. Aineireland (talk) 19:12, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Anne Esdall

The reference to the News-letter seems to assume a previous reference to it which is not there. Aineireland (talk) 22:09, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Fixed! Smirkybec (talk) 22:20, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Irish Refugee Council

Hi, just wanted to refer to an edit I have made. I read references 4 and 5 carefully. IRC does not oppose deportations. They would entirely undermine their credibility if they did as they support international law which envisages the deportation of failed asylum seekers. I did see a news item online from 2002 where they queried a particular type of deportation until legal certainty was established but that was a very particular set of circumstances.

Reference 4 does not support the statement - their position on direct provision could be more complicated than I could simply express- but it definitely needs a citation if it is simple opposition Aineireland (talk) 19:56, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

That's fair enough. I have added a citation directly from their website on the matter. I also found a little more nuanced phrasing on their stance on deportation. Smirkybec (talk) 20:30, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

BLM

First, thanks so much for your work related to both BLM and LGBT content. I'm curious if you're interested in contributing to this request. Thought of you based on some of your contributions recently, which are much appreciated! Either way, happy editing and stay safe, ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:20, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

@Another Believer: Thanks very much - just trying to do what little I can! Do you know if there is a deadline? If it's not too late, I can take a look tomorrow. Thanks again! Smirkybec (talk) 18:07, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Smirkybec, I don't know of a deadline but I am sure you've got a few days at least. Tomorrow would be great! Thanks again, ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:20, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Any help or advice?

Hi, I recently created the page Cecil Maguire. However, if you google his name the Wikipedia page does not come up. It is very frustrating. A similar situation some years ago was sorted, I think, by the administrator, Brownhairedgirl, but I particularly don't want to bother her again as I did so recently. Aineireland (talk) 15:03, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi! I don't actually know how you go about fixing that. If you want I could ask in some of the Wikipedia Facebook groups I'm in? Smirkybec (talk) 20:36, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Fine. but I don't want to put you to too much trouble. I dredged my memory and I find that the previous occasion was when I created the page John Dulanty. If you go to it and click on What links here you will see Usertalkpage BrownhairedGirl.... Archives and the first thing on the list- Revolvy- is our conversation. There is confusion at the beginning because of my misunderstanding of the term "mainspace". I am afraid I don't understand it well enough to remedy the matter. Maybe it will make more sense to you. Aineireland (talk) 21:48, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

For what it's worth I just googled him and the wikipedia page came up. It may just have needed time? ☕ Antiqueight chatter 22:22, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

More misunderstanding? John Dulanty was fixed. Cecil Maguire is the problem and it doesn't come up when I google him Aineireland (talk) 22:39, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

This appears when I google him? "Cecil Maguire was an Irish landscape and figure painter. His work features in major collections including at the UN headquarters in New York and the Ulster Museum in Belfast. Maguire was born in Lurgan, County Armagh. Wikipedia". However the page is till unreviewed and that can affect how it appears in google searches. It's been ages since I reviewed pages, I'm not sure I have the toolbar anymore, but I'll take a look. ☕ Antiqueight chatter 23:19, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
I've reviewed the page so it may appear on google searches as you expect once it's been captured by their crawler ☕ Antiqueight chatter 00:00, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks Antiqueight. Interestingly, the last page Smirkybec worked on, Irish Traveller Movement, which seems to have been more complicated than a simple page creation, does not appear either when googled Aineireland (talk) 11:42, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Might be that there will be lag in indexing the new pages on Google. If it persists, I can enquire elsewhere :) Smirkybec (talk) 12:00, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Percy Le Clerc

Working on a page about Percy Le Clerc who was Inspector of National Monuments and did many restorations as well as conservation etc. Need help and discussion-new to editing --could you give any suggestions? How to get it noticed by Wikiproject Ireland? It would be great to make contact G.scorah (talk) 17:33, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

@G.scorah: Hello! Great to hear from you. You might find my series of YouTube videos helpful. To chat to those involved in WikiProject Ireland, you just post to the Talk page with a link to your draft article. Having a quick look at your draft, the main thing to do is to start adding citation inline (cite as you write style) by using the Cite button instead of adding your own numbers and a bibliography at the end. Looking at similar articles to the one you want to create is always helpful, such as Ada Leask (Harold is still waiting on an article too!) Smirkybec (talk) 17:56, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
Great to hear from you and VERY helpful. Thinking about Harold Leask-he needs a page but one at a time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by G.scorah (talkcontribs) 10:43, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
@G.scorah: Brilliant! Just let me know when you are finished with the draft and I can take a look at it for you :) Smirkybec (talk) 11:45, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
