Disambiguation link notification for November 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kaulsdorf (Saale), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wettin. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:12, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to 2024 North Korean parliamentary election. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 23:38, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of The Mollusk[edit]

Information icon Hi! I noticed that you nominated the article The Mollusk for Good article status. You do not appear to have made significant edits to the article prior to this, and there is no discussion about nominating the article on its talk page. Current practice is that only editors who have significantly contributed to the article are able to nominate it (see the nomination instructions). I have consequently removed the nomination for now. Consider discussing whether the article is ready to be nominated with the article's principal editors on the talk page. Thank you. Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 03:22, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Work for Curaçao[edit]

On 1 May 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Work for Curaçao, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a Work for Curaçao candidate in the 2021 Curaçao general election received 427 votes despite being dead? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Work for Curaçao. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Work for Curaçao), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello, Samoht27,

Please don't start a week-long discussion on pages that are better dealt with by speedy deletion. Deleting these User pages didn't require debate. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:54, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the advice! I will keep that in mind when encountering similar issues. -Samoht27 (talk) 03:19, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GA mentorship[edit]

All right, I've picked out a few nominations you might be interested in reviewing. They should all be relatively easy ones. Biographies are fairly straightfoward, so there are some politician biographies:

Or if you want something else in the topic area, you could review:

If one of these catches your eye, you can just open up the article's talk page, click the "start review" link, and save the page that it loads. Then we can work on what specifically you're looking for in a review. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 02:04, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I've started a review for Gerald Willis (politician). -Samoht27 (talk) 16:07, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great! A few things to make sure you check for on each point based on the good article criteria:
  • Well-written: In addition to being easy to read without any grammar errors, make sure it complies with the relevant manual of style pages: check the lead, check the layout, and make sure it doesn't use any of the types of phrases listed under words to watch. You don't have to worry GA's fiction or list criteria since this article doesn't have either of those.
  • Verifiable: This is an important point—open up the sources and look at some of them. You're checking to make sure that they actually support the things that they're citing, and that the article doesn't just copy and paste the text from the sources (which would be plagiarism). You only need to check a few at random to make sure there aren't any pervasive issues, but it's good practice to list the ones you checked.
    • I also took the liberty of running the article through WP:EARWIG, which isn't a substitute for checking sources, but it can catch some plagiarism automatically. The article passed with no issues.
  • Broad coverage: This one is pretty easy with biographies. There aren't usually issues as long as it covers what the person actually did and there's no big gap in the person's life.
  • Neutral: This one is a little more subjective. Just make sure it hits all of the points listed at WP:NPOV. No opinions presented as facts, no issues with positive or negative tone, etc.
  • Stable: All you have to do is make sure there haven't been any arguments or edit wars lately (and I looked, there haven't been).
  • Illustrated: There's nothing weird going on with images here, so just make sure the image can actually be used as far as copyright goes. I'm not convinced that it's "without a copyright notice" if it was published in a newspaper, but copyright is complicated and more context might be needed to know for sure.
Once you're totally finished with the review, ping me so I can look over it once more. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 21:28, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm finished with the review. -Samoht27 (talk) 16:26, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All right, if the nominator has fixed everything that might be keeping it from being a GA, then the last step is to mark it as a good article. There's a whole manual process listed at the good article instructions, but there's a script at User:Novem Linguae/Scripts/GANReviewTool that can do the whole thing for you.
