• Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
• Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article

Hi Ruwoltj, and thanks for your contributions. I noticed there are a lot of errors in the references section on the Garden Sanctuary page you created. If you go to that page and scroll to the bottom, you'll see what I mean. This page may provide some useful information to help resolve this. I would recommend taking a look at other pages, to get an example.

February 2017

I cannot keep citations on this Wikipedia page active. I am using the Cite App, all looks good for a few hours, then 'poof!' errors everywhere. Obviously the Cite App has hidden powers, and if I simply recreate the code, that is not enough to get a working citation. I spend more time on page problems than actually writing the page. So I removed all the inline citations.

The citation error has happened again. I entered just two citations using the Cite app template for web, and 'poof!' they become problems. After 24 hours I will delete the citations, since something is fundamentally wrong with the app. Why it sometimes works OK and sometimes doesn't I can't explain. Can anyone explain this to me?

Go ahead and merge this with Garden Sanctuary.

Citation Errors: a cancer eating my Citation references

I don't know what is wrong but the 'cancer' of Citation errors is off and running again, on this page. Please note that the list of data has 400 entries, and the last thing I want to do is re - cite all the entries. I have more research I want to do, and if Wikipedia has a citation problem, let someone else fix it for me.

I cannot fix these problems. By this citation problem I mean: In using citations used multiple times, I made each Reference book a unique code, such as "GGA" for The Great Gardens in Australia by Tanner, but when choosing the citation I could not see GGA in the citation list box, only The Great Gardens in Australia, further down the list.

There are 13 reference books, and two have the same name "The Great Gardens of Australia". I have tried naming one of these as "(The).... but the problems got worse. (One had code GGA, the other code is TGGA.) GGA would never come up in the citation box when attempting to cite the entries. So I went further down the citation window and chose Great Gardens in Australia. (This has led to a citation error I think).

To Correct this I entered this citation using the Citation template again. Entering a new citation record led to TWO Citation errors.

"GIA" and the citation |Gardens in Australia| also got lost and was just spelled out at the bottom of the citations, and I cannot recover the citation. I have entered it as a citation twice, but it does not recover.

The more I correct the citation data, the more gets an error. From one error, I now have three errors.

If there is a citation guru at Wikipedia, please get in touch with me. I also had galloping citation problems in the page Secret Gardens (Gardening) and the only workable solution was to delete all the citations made in the text. With no citations active, the Citation Error went away. The books are still listed in the Reference section but attempting to make these citations, all hell broke loose with Citation errors. I cannot solve that problem.

Cue Help: I need a Citation expert to tell me how to get them working properly.

Heritage gardens in Australia

Hi, I've done a big edit on this. Please minimise capitalisation. There were already some "cite errors" showing (big red text at bottom). Thanks for your work: really good resource. But needs more fixing.

I found some of the descriptions a little weird—and this is surely for non-experts too. For example "labour"?

Sometimes there are blatantly subjective descriptions ("Best garden in Australia"?). These should be removed, I'm afraid. Tony (talk) 03:49, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
