Your GA nomination of Moments (One Direction song)

The article Moments (One Direction song) that you put up for good article nomination has been put on hold . There are some prose and reference formatting issues that are keeping the article from reaching good article status. You will have the general seven days to address these issues and/or debate the points you believe do not concern good article status. See this for more information on what needs to be fixed. AARONTALK 23:01, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Retiring?

Why? :( — ΛΧΣ21 03:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

I have been thinking about it since August 2012. I'm tired of writing all the One Direction articles solely but then at the same time there are so other many articles that need to be copy-edited, updated and that have trivial information. Wikipedia keeps growing rapidly and there just aren't enough well-rounded editors. I feel like I'm working on a project that will never end. My school is also very demanding; this school year I have test weeks regularly, I have exams in May, have to read 30 books in total between English and Dutch, have a gigantic history project about the Cold War. Wikipedia does not give me anything back in return except for improving my English lol. I don't know. I think a wikibreak is best for now. — Robin (talk) 12:58, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Log out and take a month off. It's surprising how when you don't edit very much for a while, when you come back, you start enjoying it again. (When I was blocked for two weeks last Summer, it did me good. Same as my holiday I was just on for two weeks, I barely edited. Came home, and swung right back into editing) AARONTALK 14:10, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
That may work. I had a week off in November and it was great. My advanced studies just started today and then I won't be able to edit Wikipedia as much as I'm used to until mid-March. I think that the most rewarding thing of this project is the improvements you do in your life. Me, I have edited very different topics, and when improving articles, I have learned a lot I didn't know before. — ΛΧΣ21 02:30, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Undoubtedly, it would be a major loss to our community especially to 1D fans. While I'm sure we'd get another editor to work at those articles, I don't think anyone would match your dedication there. I too get so damm tired by editing Green Day related articles. What I do is I stop editing such articles for some time, maybe for a month or some and then return. In meantime I work around my other interests here (articles related to cities, films, history, India, Pakistan....). I think its the best solution to refresh yourself. Retiring won't actually help as you'll feel Wiki-sick after a month or some ;) Go out somewhere with friends for a day or two, live and enjoy yourself, don't think at all about anything (wiki, pending work, GARs, DYKs, real-life craps...) and just let yourself go, ignoring every responsibility you have for few days and you'll be recharged for sure. I used to have 4000 edits per month (as User:Yasht101) which was reduced to 1000 and now, it is merely touching 500 I guess. This all merely because of real life frustration I get from school and exams I have. Sometimes Wikipedia irritates, yea, I really feel like just leaving all the GAR, DYKnom, FLCs aside and just back off. Don't edit Wikipedia much; visit us in 2-3 days and stay online on this site for 1 hour max and it won't affect your studies or life. I certainly don't want an editor like you to go. At the end, its completely your choice and I know you'll do whats right. All the best with real life :) — Yash [talk] 04:18, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm taking a wikibreak for 2 weeks for now; I'll still revert non-consecutive edits per my watch list but nothing more I guess. Thanks for all the advice guys! Appreciate it. Yash thanks especially for giving me a greater look into it all. Regards and happy editing Robin (talk) 21:44, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi, ¿Robin? ¿New nickname? Happy New Year. I came to greet and tell you that "Little Things" probably will be GA in the Spanish Wikipedia. So, Take Me Home and "Live While We're Young" are nominated to featured article's. And... It's all. Have a nice day. Bye! Biagio2103 (talk) 13:27, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Happy New Year! Best of luck with your nominations! — Robin (talk) 22:35, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi my first registered talk page stalker! My first one was 'AdabowtheSecond', I changed it because I was tired of being "theSecond" and using User:Adabow original account name. As I have told him/her, I named myself after him/her because I had a profound admiration for his/her work. Regardless I felt I should be more original so I changed it. May I ask why you have become a talk page stalker of my talk page? We have never communicated or worked together before. — Robin (talk) 21:48, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Hey Robin! I would like to work with you please. CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 08:10, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
Sure I'd like that! I'm mostly focused on Glee (TV series) and One Direction articles; maybe we can find a common interest. Which subtopics interest you the most. — Robin (talk) 13:11, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Sure, why not. How do I nominate something together? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:35, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Great! I have seen other people nominate together just don't know exactly how. I think I now how. — Robin (talk) 13:28, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
I have nominated it; just go to Talk:Andrew Garfield and where you see my signature just add; "and" & your signature. — Robin (talk) 13:52, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Oliver Kieran-Jones redirect

Robin, can I ask you to please delete the Oliver Kieran-Jones page?

As a general rule, I don't think it's useful to have a redirect of an actor to one of the shows he's been on, and in this case Oliver isn't even mentioned in that article (and isn't important enough to the show to have been so). Also, he's credited as "Oliver Kieran Jones" on Glee, without the hyphen, which helps confuse matters.

It's easy to delete a page you have created: just add the {{db-self}} template to the top of the article's page, and it will be deleted. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:37, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

I have nominated it for deletion. Thanks, that's very thoughtful of you. I also noticed the hyphen problem a couple of days ago. Oliver's twitter account doesn't use the hyphen either. — Robin (talk) 20:05, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Robin. It was deleted a short while ago. You know, it's very confusing: he doesn't use a hyphen, but the Billboard article about him that just came out does. I think some people enjoy the inconsistency... It's unusual that we get that kind of specific information: that he was signed for three episodes, and just did his second (episode 15), so there's only one more left this season. I wonder whether Kurt will ever sing with Adam's Apples... BlueMoonset (talk) 03:55, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
It's safe to say Oliver knows best :/ . I really enjoyed his Billboard interview; very useful for futuristic Wikipedia articles... I really like mister Crawford, so I hope that doesn't come to pass. — Robin (talk) 04:12, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I do not believe that I have awarded you a barnstar yet for your amazing contributions... shame on me! I award you this, original barnstar, for your great work on One Direction articles! I must say, I usually get annoyed and hate on the - I don't know what to call it, but people like them - but for a change, I don't. It's great to see someone fighting against the overzealous fans who try to use Wiki as a fansite for them! I think that every artist(s) should have an editor (or editors) who devote their time in keeping their articles accurate, well written and free of vandals, inflation (or deflation - *sighs* at the haters), among other things. I know that it's sometimes frustrating when always dealing with the same type of article all the type (I know this first hand), but just know that you are appreciated for all your hard work! Keep it up buddy! P.S. Call me Zach. Without the "h" was a phase.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 03:30, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I appreciate it Zach. :) — Robin (talk) 03:40, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

One Direction photos

Hey there :) This is about the 1d main article. I'd changed the pictures of the One Direction members yesterday but you undid it saying it wasn't really needed. Sure, they haven't changed one bit, but they're a bit more recent (just by a few months though) and I think they're an improvement to the current ones, I don't think those pictures do them any justice at all! Since they're in the commons anyway it wouldn't hurt to change them, right? Those pictures of them have been on the article as long as I remember. I'm a newbie so I'm not really sure about the rules or anything, I just think it makes for a better article. What say you? Cheers! GinaJay (talk) 12:59, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello. In my opinion, the new images for Horan (he looks very pale), Payne (he looks like his head needs plastic surgery), Styles (he looks drugged up) and Tomlinson (you can only see one half of his face) are not improvements just because they're more recent. However, the new image for Malik is better! Thoughts?
Well when you put it that way ...! Payne's picture is bad but I think Horan's is a definite thumbs up as compared to the one right now, the flash's too bright in it. As for Tomlinson, here's a one in which his face, both sides, is crystal clear: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Louis_Tomlinson.jpg  :) But if you think the article's better the way I suppose I'll leave it at that :) GinaJay (talk) 11:01, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
Why don't you favour Horan's current image; you can clearly see his face and his smile is just adorable. Tomlinson; his face doesn't look as charming as in the current one in my opinion..... — Robin (talk) 19:52, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
haha okay then so be it :) GinaJay (talk) 12:45, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Andrew Garfield

Hi, congratulations for your work on Garfield's biography. However, I have a small suggestion. Please ensure that the year in which a particular film has released, is mentioned in the lead. Cheers. :) --smarojit (buzz me) 18:48, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

I agree. I think brackets is best. — Robin (talk) 19:49, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Glee articles

Do you want me to remove 'so far' or only add the date of publication? It was published in December 2012, but in a year or two opinions might change on the subject that's why something like 'so far' is necessary. I removed it from several articles until I saw this sentence "Reviewing musical performances in the series so far on October 21, 2009, Denise Martin for the Los Angeles Times rated "Hate On Me" the fourth best performance to date" in Throwdown (Glee). Do you want me to use that kind of sentence? --Sofffie7 (talk) 19:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

  • Either way is great. "In December 2012," is sufficient, actually. — Robin (talk) 19:38, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

A favour?

Hi Robin, I've noticed your contributions on 1D song articles - great work! Agreed, I will source the magazines with secondary sources. Thank you for adding info about Blaine in the music section - it was sorely lacking. Where does it state "the lead should only cite the US' main single chart"? Just wondering.Mimi C. (talk) 02:44, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

On the latter question; That's just my opinion, view as the Hot 100 is such a prominent chart and the digital songs one isn't. Should have wrote "in my opinion" :/. On the preceding sentiment; thanks. Everything I do is in good faith, and I really appreciate all your contributions to the article. It has some really interesting information, so, as a fan, thanks. — Robin (talk) 02:51, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

My biggest struggle when editing Wikipedia articles is trying to make them concise yet be informative at the same time. There's definitely a fine line! :-) Mimi C. (talk) 04:24, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Lol... I think every sane Wikipedia editor shares your sentiment. :) — Robin (talk) 04:33, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Reversion due to spelling errors

Are you really reverting edits based in part -- in fact, as your first gravamen in your complaint -- that they contain a spelling error? Rather than fixing the error? That's, mildly speaking, not a reason for a reversion.

And your initial reason for your first reversion was similarly surprising. You don't think religion is part of one's personal life in such cases? And you also, rather than finding a better section for it, simply reverted. That also may be felt to be something short of the collaborative spirit to which we aspire.--Epeefleche (talk) 22:57, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

You're right about the spelling aspect. My biggest itch is whether the statement and magazine are notable/encyclopedic (I should have made that clear in my edit summaries). The magazine doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Thoughts? — Robin (talk) 23:12, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. As to notability -- you are conflating two concepts. Notability and reliable source. A source need not be "notable" to be a reliable source. This has, to my mind, all the earmarks of an RS. See here. Especially as to the content in issue. What we don't want is Joe's blog reporting that person x did y. That's not at all what we have here.Epeefleche (talk) 23:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Do you believe that Shalom's opinion of Garfield is encyclopedic? — Robin (talk) 23:39, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Yes. I think it is an RS, and I think such lists -- if properly attributed to the source, are appropriate in wp articles. If it were a non-RS blog, I would have a different view.--Epeefleche (talk) 03:44, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
I disagree; I think it's trivial, bloating and completely unnecessary. As we have hit a wall in our discussion, we need to gather a consensus from other editors. Agree? — Robin (talk) 22:20, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Sure -- as you are seeking input from other editors, what other names have you edited under? Also -- of course, as with your other prior rationales, the rationale that something must be "necessary" to be included is not how we edit.--Epeefleche (talk) 00:25, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I formerly edited under AdabowtheSecond. I've opened a section on Talk:Andrew Garfield. — Robin (talk) 13:37, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

IP editing in One Direction discography

hi Robin. Just wanted to give you the heads up that the IP you talked to in late April about editing One Direction's discography page has been changing "boy band" to "rock band" again. I'll change it back to "boy band" again but would appreciate your help in dealing with this IP if you have the time. Thanks JayJ47 (talk) 05:18, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

But they are not a boy band! 79.97.153.17 (talk) 20:13, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
As for JayJ47, I completely agree with you and appreciate your help. As for IP 79.97.153.17, Wikipedia works with general, broad consensuses, not an individual notion. One Direction are widely regarded as a boy band so that's how Wikipedia represents them. — Robin (talk) 00:33, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
It looks like he/she is using another IP address (89.100.130.154) now as well. Would this be considered sock puppetry and thus warrant a block? JayJ47 (talk) 10:54, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Maybe? :/ — Robin (talk) 00:47, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Robin, I've made the change you requested - no idea where nom may have got to... if you like I could renominate the article, since as you say it seems a shame to give up here. Happy to help. Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:48, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

  • Renominate and ping me when you do. :/ Robin (talk) 19:38, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
OK, I've popped it back in the GA queue. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:59, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
I've passed it. Thanks for your time. Robin (talk) 20:25, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre

Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Sue Me, Sue You Blues

Hi Robin. I've added a brief message on the review page of course, but I just wanted to say thanks again for reviewing this song article. Your compliments mean a lot – I'm similarly impressed with the work you've done on One Direction's Take Me Home(!). (That's my idea of a great, in-depth album article.) Best, JG66 (talk) 04:05, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome and thanks for the compliment (that's what I was aiming for when I wrote it!). Robin (talk) 17:27, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello

Please weigh in here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mariah Carey's fourteenth studio album.  — AARONTALK 16:34, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

I don't like AFDs because I always feel sorry for the article creator, but I voted delete anyway... Robin (talk) 17:36, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I know, but as you could tell by his user name, he is just a crazy fan adding a load of unreliable information to an already created article.  — AARONTALK 17:43, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, that about sums it up. Robin (talk) 17:46, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

A favour

Hello, would you mind commenting on my FLC, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs written by Emeli Sandé/archive1, as progress has completely stalled and hasn't been very active recently. Thanks.  — AARONTALK 22:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

I've supported it. Good luck Robin (talk) 22:36, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks.  — AARONTALK 22:51, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
You're welcome. Robin (talk) 23:28, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Your edit

Please explain what part of WP:TALK was violated with this revert you made CTF83! 00:49, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

It's the WP:NOTAFORUM guideline you were violating, which isn't part of WP:TALK....... Apologies. Robin (talk) 21:41, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

I graduated from high school on the 20th and was out all night celebrating with my fellow grads, and then slept all day on the 21st (yesterday). I will continue the review later today (the 22nd).  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 04:30, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations! Thanks for the update. Robin (talk) 12:21, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for the wait, but it has been completed now.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 18:05, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

One Direction albums

Hey Robin, I'll take a look at the FLC later today. Just letting you know you should think about submitting One Direction albums as a good topic at WP:GTC. Let me know if you want a hand with this. Well done for writing these high-quality which are probably affected by A LOT of fancruft and vandalism! Adabow (talk) 21:37, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Yep, I'm planning to nominate the Up All Night and Take Me Home topics after the current "More than This" and "Kiss You" GANs are closed. Thank you. I most definitely share your sentiments. :P Robin (talk) 21:53, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Great! You can also create the "One Direction albums" topic with the discography list, two studio and one video album; see No Doubt albums for an example. Adabow (talk) 23:33, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
I don't think the "One Direction albums" topic is a good idea, as I don't think I'm going to contribute majorly to the next One Direction era. My interest in them has been passing the last 6 months. I've nominated the Up All Night topic at Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Up All Night/archive1. Robin (talk) 23:20, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Where We Are?

Is this really? Biagio2103 (talk) 19:29, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't even edited the article. Since its tracklisting, title, and release date haven't been confirmed, the article violates several guidelines. I've redirected it for now. Thanks for alerting me. Robin (talk) 15:21, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Holly Holliday

FYI, I started a review last night. More presumably during the afternoon today, EDT. -- Zanimum (talk) 14:01, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! Robin (talk) 17:17, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations!

It looks like List of songs in Glee (season 1) has just been promoted; The Rambling Man has deleted it from the FLC page along with four others as part of an edit that has a "pr 5" (promoted 5) edit summary. Well done! It may take a little while for the bot to finish its work, but once it does, I think you should have the honor of updating the various Glee task force pages with the second featured list we have. (I can, if you'd rather, but it's your call.) Thanks again for doing such excellent work and pursuing this promotion. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:35, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Make that a double dose: Holly Holliday was just promoted to GA! Time to celebrate! (Again, I'll leave this for you to update.) Thank you very much for taking on this article and making it Good. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:06, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
BlueMoonset, thanks! I appreciate your enthusiasm! Yes, I would like to update them . Robin (talk) 19:00, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
