Re: Your revert

By my userscripts, my edit was made 10 hours after the latest edit to the page. The template documentation says short period of time, no greater than a few hours; otherwise, as the text of the template itself suggests, {{Under construction}} should be used. The template documentation again suggests removal after 2 hours, although I usually don't remove unless it's been there a little longer. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 15:17, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out, IAmChaos. This makes perfect sense now re the script. I guess use of the template can be a matter of preference for some copy editors, only reverted as a matter of respect to the editor working on it. But I appreciate the note on timing, we hope to complete this in a day or so (fingers-crossed) Pseud 14 (talk) 15:27, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

Why agents (Infobox) are unnecessary? and could you please explain to me why they include Agent section inside the infobox person if it is unnecessary? —Princess Faye (my talk) 10:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

The basic infobox template includes a list of parameters to cover a wide range of people/subject. Only use those parameters that convey essential or notable information about the subject, hence certain parameters are optional when it does not apply to the subject. As for the subject's agent (individual and/or agency), it is discouraged in most cases, specifically when promotional (See: Template:Infobox person). The article certainly wouldn't benefit from its inclusion and only gives undue weight to it (WP:UNDUE).

Semi-protection request for Regine Velasquez

Hi Pseud 14, I'll likely be online during the first hours of 22 April 2022. If you could perhaps notify me again the day before, I'll keep an eye on the article. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:31, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out ToBeFree, and I appreciate the gesture. Will do for sure! --Pseud 14 (talk) 22:50, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
This totally slip my mind, but as promised, ToBeFree, a courtesy ping :D Hopefully not much activity or disruptive edits that would need intervention. Pseud 14 (talk) 00:17, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
oh :) Thanks! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:18, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Well, 03:02 UTC was a bit too late for me to notice the expected vandalism. Sorry. I guess pending-changes protection for TFA BLPs may be a good idea; I'll support it if an RfC about this appears one day. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:18, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
ToBeFree, totally fine, I believe Ad and Favonian had intervened before it could get worse. By the way, see this, as I'm not sure why a certain IP is so adamant about protections for TFA BLPs (or removing it). I thought that might give you a little background. Pseud 14 (talk) 20:31, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Oh, I hadn't seen the discussion leading to the current protection indeed. Interesting. Have you seen the unprotection request currently at WP:RFUP? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:36, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
ToBeFree, yes I have, that would have been the second within a 5-hour period. Here's the first. Pseud 14 (talk) 20:44, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
O.o ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:46, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
ToBeFree, Stemmed from this discussion, which quite frankly is already in effect on the article. Not quite sure what other motives there are--Pseud 14 (talk) 20:48, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Hm, okay. I could care more. 🙂 Thanks for all the links; I have pointed towards the earlier declined request at WP:RFUP now. Thank you for the featured article! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:51, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
ToBeFree, same. Not losing sleep over it. But thank you for your follow-thru. Much grateful! --Pseud 14 (talk) 20:54, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Thank you FrB.TG for you kind gesture! You've also been the first one to recognize other editors for their milestones :D I think that'll cap it for this project and on to new ones. Speaking of projects, do you maybe have time to review my FAC on Judy Ann Santos? I would be very grateful for your feedback as BLPs are your expertise. Happy to QPQ once you have something coming :) Also, totally understand if you are busy otherwise. Either way, have a good rest of the day or night. Pseud 14 (talk) 13:05, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
I’ll be happy to look. I have plans for many articles and will work slowly but surely to give them the best quality possible. FrB.TG (talk) 13:28, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Much appreciate it as always FrB.TG! Amazing list of projects, I'll be sure to keep an eye out on these at the FAC space. And congrats on Tom Holland and Katrina Kaif! (Sorry to find out the DiCaprio ended up being archived) --Pseud 14 (talk) 13:38, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Please take a look

FYI, I spent a fair amount of time on the Intro, which was a bit of a mess: many typos, lack of clarity, etc. I know it’s much better now, but your eyes on it could only help. AND I am concerned about the Refs; I only looked at a couple, but one seemed obsolete and another is used poorly in the article (good data, but old and presented as if it is current). FWIW, I was looking at the album as a possible candidate for listening (per our Talk on her BLP article today), but the Intro was so problematic that I had to take it on in small sequential pieces. Again, your expertise would be useful. Thanks! Left Central (talk) 21:05, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Left Central, looks fine to me. And thank you for working on it. I replaced the sources a few months back with what I've found available online. These are mostly news sources and not a lot of scholarly ones, given that sourcing for Filipino subjects tend to be scarce online, esp those dating back in the 80s-90s. So you do with what you have, as long as it supports the prose. Pseud 14 (talk) 21:16, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
And yes, this would be a good album to begin your music journey with :D, her first international English release. One would consider R2K her magnum opus, albeit being a cover album. So you might find that interesting too. Pseud 14 (talk) 21:16, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Date of birth in lists

I disagree that the date of birth is not necessary in a list. Particularly in the list where I added it. The young woman began her acting at a very young age, it is useful to have that date to remind the reader how young she was. Or give her age at the early acting roles. The lack of a birthdate was especially noticeable when the first few paragraphs of the article became the Wikipedia "List of the day." Expecting every reader of the list to know her birthdate is unreasonable.Wis2fan (talk) 03:09, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

FAC discussion

Hey Pseud 14! How is it going? Thank you for your feedback on one of my earlier FACs. I would love to have your comments on my currently active FAC if you would be so kind. NØ 04:21, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey MaranoFan congrats on the promotion of Title (EP), I think the LP is well on its way too. Pinging because I was wondering if you might have some time and interest to provide your comments on my current FAC? Took a break from biographies this time, so this one is a shorter and less stressful undertaking. Totally understand if things are busy on your end. Hope you're having a nice weekend! --Pseud 14 (talk) 16:36, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi, I am a bit occupied right now so it will probably be about a week before I am able to do a full review. In the meantime, I'd be glad to swap image reviews, since the Title FAC needs one as well.--NØ 07:12, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks MaranoFan, absolutely no rush. Happy to provide a media review as well. --Pseud 14 (talk) 13:36, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey MaranoFan, thanks for doing double reviews on my FAC. I've been doing some image reviews myself to help a bit, and am in sort of an impasse on one I'm doing for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles/archive1. Perhaps it may come across too strict, so I wanted to ask for a second pair of eyes with experience on image reviews too. It is quite minor, as my concern is more on the ALT text (as licensing appears in good order). I've referred to other FA-class on films/television similar to the FAC on how I reviewed use of ALT text. Do you have time for a quick look and give your thoughts? --Pseud 14 (talk) 01:01, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi. I'm on a short wikibreak from FAC space so I apologize if this is not helpful enough. Since WP:ALT clearly states alt texts are used by screen readers for differently abled people, and browsers that do not display images at all, I have never considered "[Insert XYZ's name only]" alt texts acceptable. As a general rule of thumb, my take would be:
  • Unacceptable alt: XYZ
  • Smallest acceptable alt (but not my preference): A picture of XYZ
  • My preference: XYZ performing in a red dress--NØ 02:57, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
  • Thanks MaranoFan no worries at all. This is very helpful and I may just use this rationale as well. As I did not want to conclude just yet until I was sure. Pseud 14 (talk) 03:11, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
  • Hey Aoba47 hope you are well. Sorry for dragging you into this conversation, and I know you might be taking some time off of wiki too. Can I pick your brain and ask for insight, as I know you have a wealth of experience in image reviews within the music/film/pop culture spaces. What is your criteria for passing an image review when it comes to use of ALT text? --Pseud 14 (talk) 15:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
From my understanding, ALT text is encouraged for FAs, but it is not required. I find ALT text to be vague and confusing. Some FAs have a more descriptive ALT text while others just repeat the caption or have no visual descriptors. Compare the cover art ALT text for Pod (The Breeders album) and 1989 (Taylor Swift album). I tend to prefer the way done in Pod, but I have encountered editors who really dislike that. I would say as long as there is some semblance of ALT text, it should be fine. Aoba47 (talk) 18:11, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
  • Thanks for this Aoba47, I prefer the Pod ALT myself. You and Marano seem to both have the same insight on use of ALT text, while it doesn't necessarily have to be descriptive, I think if it's used in the article, it should at least provide context for those that are differently abled, and browsers that do not display images at all. But to your point, as long as there is some semblance of ALT text, if I say "[Taylor Swift]", will that suffice? ;) --Pseud 14 (talk) 18:17, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
It depends. I would agree with Marano's preference. I would say what Taylor Swift is doing in that image, whether it is performing on stage, posing on a red carpet, etc. I do not think her name alone is particularly useful ALT text. However, I have deliberately put this in the context of my opinion. I do not think there's a standard or a consensus on what ALT should look like, particularly for FAC reviews. But, if you are asking me, I do not think "Taylor Swift" is sufficient ALT text. Aoba47 (talk) 18:28, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Aoba47 That makes sense, thanks very much for this input. It has been very useful. I really appreciate your time. I hope you have a great rest of your week! --Pseud 14 (talk) 18:31, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
I am just glad that I could help. I hope you are having a great week too! Aoba47 (talk) 02:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Max Laurel

Hi Pseud 14! Do you have a Discord account? Is it okay if you join the Wikimedia Discord server? I'm inviting you because a new editor just joined and he's asking for help in writing an article about his grandfather Max Laurel. Given that you focus on Philippine entertainment, I was wondering if you would be able to help out. Thanks! Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:09, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Narutolovehinata5, I don't have one unfortunately. My general area of interest in Philippine entertainment typically revolves around subjects with comprehensive coverage in the media. But from what I can see, I'm quite unsure if Max Laurel has had extensive media coverage apart from playing "Zuma". There's not a wealth of published material that talks about Laurel. A quick search from scholarly sources or Google Books yields none. I'm afraid the subject either fails notability to warrant an article. The content is mostly WP:OR, with no reliable sourcing to back up claims (e.g. birth, marriage, family life). My writing process begins with digging out sources online before working on prose, and without published sources we'd just be spinning our wheels. I don't think I would be of much help. Pseud 14 (talk) 00:23, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
I see. Is it possible that coverage could exist for him but they're offline? I imagine considering what era he was active in, it may be possible that whatever coverage he did have is long lost. Would contacting news outlets be a possible option for help? The editor is currently based in Qatar so he can't exactly do much himself. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:30, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
It's possible. See WP:OFFLINE, a lot of these would be books, academic journals, or abstracts. But since they're offline sources, they are sometimes likely to be challenged. I have not gone that route just yet, but if contacting news outlets for material would be fruitful, then sure, I guess. Scanned newspaper clippings, etc. seem acceptable. Pseud 14 (talk) 00:41, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Pseud 14. I come across your profile while lurking through some Music-related FACs. I wonder if you could spend some time reviewing the FAC for Speak Now, which I have put under the nomination process for nearly two months now? I would very much appreciate your input. In return, should you have any Music-related FACs under your belt, I am happy to reciprocate the help. Cheers, Ippantekina (talk) 01:23, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Paradise Chronicle tweaked it now, I was gunning for Oscars too actually, which brings a sense of familiarity to any reader, but I stuck with "submitted" as these were submissions for jury consideration from the country, and not shortlisted just yet. Hello again! Apologies for the random message, but I was wondering if you could help with my current peer review (which is about a very short-lived television show that has fallen quite hard into utter obscurity)?
