RfC at Stanley Kubrick

This is a courtesy notice that there is an ongoing RfC about adding an infobox to Stanley Kubrick at Talk:Stanley Kubrick. Since you are a previous participant in such discussions, you may be interested in participating. --Laser brain (talk) 16:30, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Interwiki linking

Our article on the Royal Sardinian Navy has a link to the equivalent Italian article. That article has links to articles in French and Spanish. When I try to add the English article via Wikidata, there is an error message. I tried to file an error report but it didn't look correct on preview, with a redlink despite having the Q number correct. Wikidata is not my area of expertise, are you able to help sort this please? Mjroots (talk) 07:38, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

@Mjroots: Done. There was a duplicate item at Wikidata, which I have now merged. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 09:45, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Many thanks. Mjroots (talk) 12:41, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

seems somewhat 'promo' IMO, Im surprised to have been reverted--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:47, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

I'm surprised that you thought it OK to remove so much well-cited material, including the article subject being the recipient of significant awards, not least one from the president of his country, and being the subject of national television documentaries. Category:Refugees by name

Hey there! I am at a loss to comprehend what you could possibly have had in mind when you created Category:Refugees by name. Huh?? Anomalous+0 (talk) 20:01, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

I'm sorry to hear of your lack of comprehension. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:14, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Violet McDougall

Sources used for the recent reply to your question:

  • Mrs Violet McDougall lived at Icknield House, Tring Hill near Aylesbury - Bucks Herald 5 February 1943 Page 6 "Alleged Intent to Defraud" "Mrs. Violet Hannah McDougall, of Icknield House, Tring Hill, deposed that ..."
  • She regularly exhibited at the "Northern Counties Artists Exhibition" at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne. = "Newcastle Journal" 26 March 1940 page 6 "Women Artists' Work ar THE LAING" by Edith Base, The Most noticable thing about the women's work in the Northern Counties Artist's Exhibition at the Laing Gallery this year .. At any rate, they have provoded a lovely show of serene and beautiful landscapes. Mrs Violet McDougall for instance (her daughter is married to Newcastle Under-Shefiff, Mr. Dudley F Appleby) shows a typical painting in her "Canal, Marsworth" ... (I did see another reference about her showing in previous years but cant find it at the moment!))
  • National Registration Act 1939 - 1939 Register list of people at Icknield House, Aylesbury includes "Violet H McDougall" born 10 Feb 1874, Unpaid Domestic Duties, married. Her husband is not at home but a Winifred A Dean born 2 October 1872 is listed as a Companion. Reference RG101/2136D/006/37

  • The 1881 Census of 178 York Street, Cheetham has Violet H Arundel as a 7-year old Scholar born Manchester living with her parents Henry B Arundel aged 33 a Machine Maker and Elizabeth Arundel aged 27 and two younger siblings. Prestwich registration district RG11/4023 Folio 11 Page 15
  • The 1891 Census at Avenue Road, Blaby, Leicestershire find her as a vistor at the house Henry Brown a Retired Fruit & Rice Merchant. Not dug that deep but in the house is Governess Jessie Busby who is probably related. RG12/2497 Folio 99 Page 44.

That's incredibly helpful, thank you. For now, I've started to integrate the details into Wikidata. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:49, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
