Please help me to rename the account[edit]

The request moved from Template talk:Renameuser. --CiaPan (talk) 15:28, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pls I need help on the modification of my name. I omitted a letter while I created my username.

My user name is Akinrinlol Olumide.

The correct name is Akinrinlola Olumide not Akinrinlol Olumide.

So my requested name: Akinrinlola Olumide Akinrinlol Olumide (talk) 10:03, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:CHUS Praxidicae (talk) 15:47, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae: You're looking at an old request. The user was renamed 9 days ago, see the log. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:52, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure why it appeared as a new help me template though. Praxidicae (talk) 15:54, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Misplaced edits[edit]

You posted a message to Wikipedia talk:Teahouse, which is the page for discussing edits to Wikipedia:Teahouse. You also posted to Talk:Vandalism on Wikipedia, which is the page for discussing edits to the article Vandalism on Wikipedia. In neither case was your message relevant to the subject of the page, so please stop doing that. Your messages talk of being blocked, but the block log shows that you have never (yet) been blocked, and of course you wouldn't have been able to post messages if you had been blocked. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:29, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

Not blocked[edit]

Your account is not blocked. If it was, you would not have been able to post your message at Talk:Main page, which is not the place to post anything concerning your account or its status. General Ization Talk 02:31, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

And I see from comments above that this is the second time you have done this (you did so in November 2019 as well). Perhaps you don't understand what blocking means here on Wikipedia. Please see WP:BLOCK. General Ization Talk 02:34, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks sir. But it is not yet clear when I am getting such a message anytime I tried to edit an article Oakinrinlola (talk) 02:34, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You'll need to be more specific. What message are you receiving, and what article are you trying to edit? Not all articles are available for all editors to edit. General Ization Talk 02:35, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article I attempted to edit is Okitipupa. I normally get such a response that I have been blocked. Meanwhile, thanks for opening my understanding to the fact that not all articles can actually be edited. But kindly help check what actually went wrong why I always get that message at any attempt to edit the article - Okitipupa Oakinrinlola (talk) 02:41, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please share the exact message you are receiving when you try to edit Okitipupa. General Ization Talk 11:56, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
”you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia”

”Reason for block ((anon block)) continual vandal/spam/EF issues. ACC can ignore this block- rmv ac block.”

”Block by primefac”

Above in quote is the message when trying to edit Okitipupa Oakinrinlola (talk) 12:55, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is the message as copied by me.

You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia Reason for the block

: Continual vandal/spam/EF issues. ACC can ignore this block. - rmv ACC block Blocked by Primefac Oakinrinlola (talk) 12:56, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac: Could you look into this editor's situation? I can't see the (apparently) underlying IP block. General Ization Talk 03:38, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jeez, this block goes back to 2018, with the original blocks coming in 2017. If I remember correctly, there was a steady stream of vandalism from this IP range (I'd have to look through my personal logs to find the exact problem, but for some reason I'm thinking Nigerian spammers). As mentioned in the block, account creation is still allowed. Primefac (talk) 14:20, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As a note, I just looked at some of the recent talk page messages by the IP range, and I'm really not inclined to remove the block; the first edit on there needed suppression. Primefac (talk) 14:22, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance so far @ General Ization. I look up to you to resolve this issue for me now @ Primefac Oakinrinlola (talk) 12:30, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Just to confirm: when you received the messages above, were you signed into your account Oakinrinlola, and if not, have you tried editing the article after making sure you were signed in to that account? Are you logging in from a location where your IP (internet address) may be shared with other editors (e.g., a school, university, or a business)? General Ization Talk 19:01, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I signed into my account when I received the message. For the avoidance of doubt, I remained logged into my account at all times. I discovered and received the message after I attempted to edit. And the error message is not peculiar to that article alone. The same message appears in my attempt to edit others' articles too. I am not sure of the last question as regards my IP (Internet address ) but I am not in a school environment and I do not think my IP address CAN BE SHARED. ONLY EXCEPT IF MY ACCOUNT IS HACKED Oakinrinlola (talk) 02:02, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, let's wait for Primefac to stop in (they were on only briefly earlier today, so may not have yet had time). If you don't hear from them here in the next day or so, enter {{admin help}} (including the double brackets) below this message and this will summon another administrator to take a look. General Ization Talk 02:33, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. God bless you sir Oakinrinlola (talk) 06:21, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac, honestly, It seems you have mistaken me for someone else based on your reaction here sir. Your comment where you referred to 2018 and 2017 really shows you have mistaken me for someone else because I joined Wikipedia four months ago. I didn’t join in 2017 nor 2018. The history of steady stream of vandalism couldn’t have come from me who joined four months ago. I beseech you to conduct your investigation again so that I would not continue to suffer for a sin I didn’t commit. Oakinrinlola (talk) 18:41, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think General Ization has kind of beaten this horse to death, but you are not blocked. The IP range that you happen to be using is blocked because the range contains a ton of people who were doing nothing but vandalising. This block was not put in place to target you specifically. As long as you edit while logged in there is no issue. Primefac (talk) 19:27, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: Please note just above where I ask the editor about this and they assure us that they were signed in when they received the message. Is there any other possible explanation? General Ization Talk 20:18, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, they said the same thing back in November '19 and it clearly wasn't an issue. I'll dig into it a little deeper, but despite reading the passage above it still sounds like they were editing whilst logged out. A screenshot of them logged in with the block notice might help things. Primefac (talk) 20:24, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ Primefac, pls take me as your student. I am new anyway on Wikipedia and I am ready to learn. Help dig into it a little deeper as promised. It is always like that when a student start to learn. Very soon , I will become a professional like you.

@ General Ization, I really appreciate you. By now I thought you were have been tired of me but the opposite was true. You are the best. Thanks sir. I appreciate Oakinrinlola (talk) 20:30, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to give advice on occasion, but unfortunately I do not have time to take on a protégé. Primefac (talk) 20:33, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @ Primefac and General Ization. I have been able to resolve the issue after logging out, changed my password and Re-log in again. Am fully back now. I got this idea after taking time to study the reactions of both of you in the likely causes of my challenges . Thanks so much. Oakinrinlola (talk) 11:06, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
