{{helpme}} Dear Wikipedia editors. I need help with image upload and copyright. I'd like to add an image of the work of the artist whose page I just completed (James D. Havens). I am a curator here at Strong National Museum of Play where we own a complete collection of his works, made between 1914 and 1960. Any thoughts? He did not copyright them as far as I know and the family does not own any rights to the images. Thanks for any information you can provide.

A good place to start is to read WP:10I. In your case WP:TAG will be important and a great place to get general info on using images is WP:IMAGE. GtstrickyTalk or C 15:22, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft has been improved upon, do you want to resubmit it? BOZ (talk) 22:08, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Boz, Thank you very much for your great edits. I appreciate the work and diligence, and so will Hendrick's widow, who has asked me to initiate this page. It was difficult to find an approved reference. Here's hoping that your work will get it approved. Game on! Nricketts (talk) 12:33, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can thank User:Guiness323 for the work, although I found the page and figured it might be worth saving. :) I saw your newly created userpage and I think we could use a museum curator and historian specializing in table game history around here, we can use your knowledge and expertise especially if you're from the Strong museum. :) BOZ (talk) 13:24, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks once again. I'm honored. And his widow was overjoyed. 74.43.95.131 (talk) 13:44, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, I meant to summon User:Guinness323. BOZ (talk) 14:49, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This was a relatively easy task compared to some that BOZ has pointed me at. This was also the result of just a few hours of work. I'm sure there is much more out there that could be applied to this article, including an expansion of his early life and education, and further sources regarding his creative output and critical reception to it following his time at Microprose. His work in influential boardgames at Heritage probably merits some expansion and critical reception as well. But as it stands, I believe this is the start of a good wiki.Guinness323 (talk) 16:16, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot thank you enough. It might make sense to add that his lifelong game collection, including games he designed and published while leading Heritage, is housed here at The Strong. I'll add it when I get a chance. Nricketts (talk) 16:30, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A photo of Arnold with Creative Commons licensing would be a great addition to the article as well. Guinness323 (talk) 16:55, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Guiness323 and BOZ (talk), See above by the editors. If anyone can help that would be great. I'm still very interested in getting something posted here. thanks Nricketts (talk) 15:02, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if it helps enough, but I did find this, which was written by Matthew Costello, if you want to include it: https://archive.org/details/Asimovs_v12n01_1988-01/page/n171/mode/2up BOZ (talk) 14:13, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Guinness323 that may indeed help. I don't have time to mess with it now, too busy at work. I'll try to get to it sometime soon. This all takes way too much time. But--thank you for finding this! Nricketts (talk) 20:37, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Guiness323 and BOZ (talk), I added an initial reference to the Costello article to the first sentence in the bio. Not sure I got it right--can't find how to add Costello's name, for one. Anyway maybe this will help. Nricketts (talk) 14:13, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I had some help tracking down sources for his article, so I added them and went ahead and published it myself. :) BOZ (talk) 17:24, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
