Moto Hagio's "official website"

Hello~!

I see you are working on Moto Hagio's article in your sandbox; I have a little something to say about her "official website".

https://hagiomoto.net/ is a (very qualitative) fan site, it is hosted by cafe bleu which made other fan sites, as explained in their Twitter account's description.

Sadly, I have never heard of any actual official website for Moto Hagio.

Yes. Japanese artbooks usually contain the whole bibliography at their end. The most recent one that I own for Hagio is that one (December, 2019). In it, there is the bibliography pp.184-187, covering everything (manga & illustrations) from Lulu to Mimi in 1969 to Queen Margot and The Poe Clan: Unicorn in 2019. Obviously, everything published after 2019 is missing.

More recent artbooks were published since then, but I can't confirm they feature a bibliography nor its pagination. --Lady freyja (talk) 20:33, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

A, A Prime

Hi, Morgan. I've noticed you've been doing a nice work on Moto Hagio-related works. And back in 2016 I've tried to get A, A Prime to GA-level, but failed because it lacked production information. So, as you are working within this topic and probably reading several sources, I wonder if you had access to any reference about A, A Prime's origins? @Gabriel Yuji: I thought that the article for A, A Prime was looking developed when I went to confirm the original release dates for 4/4' and X/Y; great work. I sadly don't know of any sources on the book's development off the top of my head, but from my estimation the article feels fleshed out enough to merit a GA pass in its current state. Kishu ryūritan

Not sure how much you want to work on this article yourself, but I have access to a lot of books/articles/general sources about Japanese literature and folklore and could get it to something like DYK eligible/C-class pretty easily. Kashō Takabatake

Hello!

When I saw that Kaze to ki no uta's article got a GA label on en.wiki, I knew it was from you: congratulation for your work! ❤ (I might adapt it for fr.wiki in a "near" future, as a mirror to The Heart of Thomas へへ)

I also checked your todo-list and saw Kashō Takabatake; maybe you already know it, but all his works first published before 1927 can be uploaded on Commons; all his works are in the PD in Japan since 2017 and the URAA means that every work published in the world before 1927 are in the PD in the US. A Japanese library uploaded the scans of few issues of the Shōjo gahō magazine that are in the PD in Japan, here. Among them 5 issues contains works from Takabatake while being published in 1925/1926. I have already extracted one cover, File:Shojo_gaho_1926_09.jpg, as I needed it for an article I am currently working on.

PS: I added a source on your sandbox about Takabatake, one that I found randomly while searching for other sources.
PPS: when you are working on something related one way or another to shōjo manga, don't hesitate to ask me for help (to find sources/info, for an article review, etc.), I dedicate my contribution time on fr.wiki, but I am more than happy to help in this area! Hello again. I just saw your peer review for the Kaze to Ki no Uta article, and I wanted to say congratulations on all of the wonderful work you have done for that article. When I was in graduate school, I research and wrote a M.A. thesis about the rape fantasy in yaoi and Boys' Love, with my focus being Dramatical Murder. I read a lot of analysis about Kaze to Ki no Uta while working on my thesis so it is incredibly bittersweet to see your work on it. I know that probably sounds incredibly lame. It is just weird for me to recognize that part of my life was a number of years ago at this point. I wish I had the time to help with the peer review and future FAC, but unfortunately, I am quite busy with a new part-time job and focusing on other activities (specifically writing and art). Josei manga

Absolutely love the work you've done with the josei manga article; and in general, other manga pages. I'm not sure how you'll move forward with it, but I found a source that you might find useful about manga magazine circulation in 2010. Hello. I just wanted to tell you that I love the recent work you've done on the josei and shoujo manga (BTW, congratulations on the former becoming a GA). In general, I love the work you've done on Wikipedia and keeping an eye out for what you plan on doing next. Under different circumstances, I'd love to help, such as reviewing the shoujo manga article for GA, but alas, my own workload prevents me from doing that. The only thing I would suggest is expanding the lede somewhat, as I feel like it doesn't cover important details about the history and style of this type of manga. Yaoi VS Boys' Love

Hey there, I saw your edit at I Hear the Sunspot, and I feel that if you change the genre from yaoi to boys' love, you could have an argument to do so on all the other boys' love articles that are tagged the same. The only reason why I tagged them as yaoi was due to the fact that there was consensus at Talk:Yaoi that in the English-speaking world, boys' love is commonly known as "yaoi" (however incorrect that may be). You could also consider petition to rename the article again. lullabying (talk) 21:12, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

@Lullabying: The discussion at Talk:Yaoi is not universal to all instances of the term across the website; a work should be classified based on how it is described in reliable secondary sources, and if a specific work is overwhelmingly described to as "boys' love" and never as "yaoi", that is how it should be listed and described. This is why Given and Ossan's Love are listed as boys' love/BL, why The Heart of Thomas and Kaze to Ki no Uta are listed as shōnen-ai, etc. That doesn't necessarily mean that Yaoi article should be renamed, but it does indicate how language use is trending if that's how new works in the genre are overwhelmingly being described. If you intend to re-open the article name debate, I would devote a lot of time to crafting an airtight case as to why "boys' love" is more appropriate, and perhaps start a general discussion on the article talk page before opening a formal move request. Shojo and Shonen

Shonen and Shojo are confirmed to only target early to late teens of both genders. Saying Shonen targets boys and teen males makes no sense. Shonen targets early to late teen boys. @SG1994!: Shojo manga is marketed to an audience of young adult women, per Prough and other sources cited in the article. As the article for josei manga itself states, the definitional border between shojo and josei is itself fairly tenuous. I've reverted your edit to shojo manga because the 12-18 age range you've added is not supported by a citation. I have no interest in getting into a semantic argument over what constitutes an adolescent, but per Wikipedia itself, it includes ages 10 to 19, but an expansive definition includes ages 10 to 24 to account for a more comprehensive understanding of this phase of life. Also you are wrong about Adolescence. But that’s not what adolescence is generally referred to in context to what Shojo and Shonen targets. If they target adolescent boys and girls, then they are referring specifically to teenage boys and girls. Cuz adolescent as a demographic refers to teenagers as that’s the general definition. Unwanted edit on Shonen

You used false information on Shonen. The Shonen demographic is boys 12 to 18. Not 9 to 18. Adolescent boys are early to late teens. We had a citation confirming the demographic of Shonen manga being mainly for boys 12 to 18. That’s early to late teenage boys. Shonen is used in a narrow sense when used in context of manga and anime since the 20th century began. In the narrow sense, it refers only to boys of the age equivalent to junior high school students to high school students. Junior high school students are 12 to 15 years old.
