Akhtar Ayub
Hi, there has been a request at WT:CRIC to restore the article on Akhtar Ayub. While the deleted article did not meet WP:BIO, he has played F-C cricket in Pakistan - see here. - Thanks for adding it to WT:WA; I haven't seen that page before. I think it's too late for DYK, since I wrote it on 31 December (and unfortunately only investigated the rules for DYK a few days ago). The only photo I know I have of Fonty's Pool is one of me and a whole bunch of family members as kids lined up along the diving board - although funny, it's not really suitable for an encyclopedia. :) Somno (talk) 02:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

I use two rr cause way back when I started using it I decided to distinguish between me, the dreamtime story, the burb, the lake, the mound etc.... MacRobertson Air Race Poster
Hello, I am writing about the image you posted of a poster for the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race.
I am requesting your permission to use the poster on my website, www.hangar47.com, a modeling website dedicated to the Golden Age of Aviation. Specifically, I would like to use the poster image on a page dedicated to a model of the DeHavilland Comet, "Grosevenor House," which as you know won the October 1934 Race from RAF Mildenhall, England to Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia.

- Long time, no chat. Yes, the referendum was successful in terms of the public vote, but it failed at the House of Commons, so it may be misleading to describe it as successful. You're quite right in saying "this aspect is not particularly relevant to the article"; in fact, it was because the original said "during the debate prior to the 1933 secession" that I added the word "referendum", because I felt the original implied that a secession had occurred, and that this implication was creating a red herring.
But then I read that the 1933 referendum had been carried, and felt that I simply had to mention that!
I guess I got "carried away"!! (I just love the idea that 68% voted "Yes"!!!)
I digress.
Your edit is an improvement, and I agree with it / support it (or whatever it is I should be doing with it.)

- Hello. Well, I can -- and will -- be bothered. It is quite coincidental that you mention that. That project has been on my back burner for a long time (cleaning up this page ... and incorporating the age template). Literally, just yesterday, I started to clean it up -- using my Sandbox pages for the drafts until I have dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's. Asjes-Pronk
Dear Moondyne,
As being Dutch myself I can assure you that Asjes and Pronk are two different persons. Pieter Pronk was the radio operator of the Pander and worked for the KLM, he died in 1942 in Indonesia where he was killed in action by the Japanese. Dirk Lucas Asjes was a Dutch military pilot who became famous - in the Netherlands offcourse - for his wartime period in the Dutch East Indies during WWII. I don't know what the numerous sources are. But here are some of mine.

Sachin Tendulkar centuries page
Hello, this is in reference to your Start Class rating of List of Test cricket centuries by Sachin Tendulkar. I was particularly surprised at the rating because that way I had framed the article was on the same lines as the List of Test cricket triple centuries which is an FA-List. It would be great if you can provide me feedback on what prompted you with your rating and suggestions for pushing it further up on quality. I just took a look at your request regarding the {{WikiProject Cricket}} template. My apologies that I took a few days to reply on this topic. My offline life is undergoing a busier period than normal of late. {{WikiProject Cricket}} already has a list parameter active, available by using the class=list parameter with the template, rather than providing an assessment. - The bottom-importance parameter appears to have been created due to a discussion amongst WikiProject Cricket members back in April 2007. I tried finding that discussion but gave up after a while. For the bot to recognise the changes to the template you'd need to request that of the bot's owner, User:Oleg Alexandrov. I'm not sure if a change would be made for the benefit a single WikiProject but it can't hurt to ask. I don't think we'll see widespread usage of the bottom-importance parameter to be honest but if it suits the Cricket project's needs it can't be doing any harm. -- Longhair\talk 20:34, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Richie Benaud's Greatest XI, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - I find your instructions bizarre and not conducive to collaboration. eg. "Please do not copy my comments placed on my talk page or other talk pages or editing histories of articles, or other Wikipedia pages, take them out of context, and/or move them elsewhere. Doing so distorts them. Thank you." and "Please do not post any more comments on my talk page (if at all possible)". You edit mine and others comments before archiving and choose to not archive others entirely. This is an abuse of Wikipedia norms and I urge you to start conforming to standards. Put simply, people are just not going to read your own talk page instructions for the reasons I explained previously. Message to no-one and everyone
Yesterday I had an unfortunate incident with an electric drill and the drill won. As a result I now have a broken Fourth metacarpal bone in my right hand and am told that I'll be in plaster for a few weeks. Other than that I'm fine. - Just saw this. :-( I am very sorry to learn of your unfortunate accident, Moondyne. Please try to concentrate on rest and getting better. Our recent run-in on the talk pages of HL and NYS are really unimportant when it comes to good health. I hope that you can consider us "made up" and not trouble yourself about it anymore. (It seems to have resulted from different interpretations and understandings of some Wikipedia policies and guidelines.) And just feel better. That's the important thing--especially in light of what happened to the wonderful actor Heath Ledger (whose work I greatly enjoyed and whose presence among us I already greatly miss). Being able to cope with the stresses and strains of one's own life matter far more than editing conflicts in Wikipedia. (I hope to take my own advice and turn back to my non-Wikipedia work.) Above in your previous section, part of the context is what I posted re: my being sorry that you hurt your hand (posted on February 11, 2008, where I say: "I hope that you can consider us "made up" and not trouble yourself about it anymore." I have "forgiven" you for your (I think) inappropriate (in my view) descriptions of my edit as "POV rant", "fluff", "quite unsuitable", etc. and the response to my response (re: my compliance with your request for the "favour" leading me to created a user subpage)--fully discussed a number of times now in my talk page as well, partly also in response to your initial req. at top of it (restored by Hesperian), who "demanded" that I respond to your restored question (which I did do in detail).
- Given what has transpired (the consequent enormous waste of time and any distress you may have experience, which I definitely did not intend to cause in Talk:Heath Ledger (I thought I was just being descriptive and requesting that people not post comments about that article on my talk page so I could get my work done), of course I regret ever posting that reference to "ridiculous personal attacks" [referring to the edit summaries and also the later posts by you on my talk page, that I copied and pasted above on your talk page)], which I took (perhaps mistook) as personal attacks on me and my editing. I explain in detail on my talk page how I took them. My attempt to reconcile this situation concerning you is partly in sec. above, and also here, where I ask your "forgiveness" for posting my concerns in the article talk page instead of in your talk page (or for just ignoring them). Mutual reconciliation would indeed make this situation easier for everyone. Since after you and others deleted my sentence from Heath Ledger, I have left the lead as is. Basically, I've only done some mostly minor formatting changes to it, updated some sources, readjusted spacing, etc. Nothing very substantive. Just what some refer to as "tweaks" mostly.
- Unfortunately, partly as a result of this recent Wikipedia controversy and partly as a result of household emergencies, I've gotten almost no sleep in two days, so I have to log off and go to bed in order to make appointment Wednesday (my time). Please respond here rather than on my talk page. If you would like to post a link to your response here on my talk page, that might be useful. Responding here will, however, keep this particular part of the "conversation" altogether in context. - Nah, no trauma there. I reckon that database is descriptive rather than prescriptive - it records what names have been used, rather than what names are permissable. Faced with 15 papers that talk about the "Nullabor Limestone", and a further 122 papers that talk about the "Nullarbor Limestone", they concluded (inevitably) that these refer to the same entity, and that "Nullarbor Limestone" is the preferred name. If you wrote a scientific paper in which you referred to the Nullarbor Limestone by the name "My Great Aunt's Bosom", they would happily include an entry indicating its synonymy with the preferred name. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Legends of Motorsport (band)
I can't remember (and can't retrieve history anymore) whether I or someone else created Legends of Motorsport (band). I had no particular interest in the article. I did create Legends of Motorsport and had somehow inferred that the band of the same name might be a source of confusion. I might have created the article just to be able to say "for ... see". In fact, I am reasonably sure the band is very small and "insignificant" (and perhaps does not exist anymore?). AFAICT, I hadn't even put Legends of Motorsport (band) on my watchlist. - An English translation was issued in London the very same year (1619), under the title The relation of a wonderfull voiage made by William Cornelison Schouten of Horne. I've just added "Charting of the islands was previously credited to Jorge de Menezes, but the notion that Menezes visited Australia is now thoroughly discredited, and no other candidate has been proffered." to the article. Now I have to find a citation for it. It is hard to find citations for negations like "no other candidate has been proferred". McIntyre, the cheeky bugger, says: "hey lets not talk about who first charted it, it doesn't matter, just accept that it was some Portuguese navigator some time in the 16th century". :-( Hesperian 01:59, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
