Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Smile emoji Hi Lewisguile! Thank you for your edits to Black nationalism. It looks like you've copied or moved text from Leonard Howell into that page, and while you are welcome to re-use the content, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. If you've copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 03:20, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's helpful info! In that case, I may have a lot of editing to do, but I'll get to it ASAP. Thank you for pointing that out for me. Lewisguile (talk) 13:43, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some of your edits to this article are helpful, but others are not and do not improve the article. Unfortunately, the way you have made them makes it impossible to undo them individually. I suggest that you follow WP:BRD and go to the talk page and discuss each of your suggested changes and get consensus for them there, at which time you can make the change to the article. As of this moment, you do not have consensus for your changes, and restoring them (again) after they have been disputed (by me) goes against Wikipedia's common practices. I will be happy to engage with you and the talk page and make clear which changes are useful and which are not, once you present them there for consideration. Hello Beyond My Ken,
The original article had very few sources for most of its claims, relied on a small number of references (most of them quite old) and included unfounded and/or outdated information. BRD is noted as an optional strategy, but I am happy to discuss with you on the talk page. Lewisguile (talk) 07:48, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi BMK, I have created a few new topics on the talk page, as requested. I would be keen to hear your thoughts. While the issues around wordiness are debatable, I believe the factual and historical issues are the most important and the most urgent, followed by the POV/editorialising issues. Hello Beyond My Ken
I respectfully disagree with your opinion. I feel that the edits made by Lewisguile on this article were well evidenced, accurate and an important restoring of a factual telling of these histories.
I hope that a decision would be made which is a fair and respectful telling of this topic.

Thank you! That's reassuring! Feel free to repost this over here: Talk:White trash (just so we can keep the discussion in one place). Lewisguile (talk) 18:18, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
