ITN recognition for 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel rescue

On 28 November 2023, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel rescue, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Stephen 22:01, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Leoneix, you have suddenly stopped the copyedit which is affecting the DYK nom, can you please continue or kindly ask someone else from the GOCE project to do the same. It will be a great help. Thank you mate. Drat8sub (talk) 16:11, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

I actually want to do it, but my schedule is not allowing me. It is quite an interesting article. I suggest you to go through Intermediate advice from Tony1 on Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/How to and copy-edit the article as there are only grammatical and style issues. Rest assured, someone from the GOCE will visit it. I will also try to do it once I am a bit less busy. Regards. Leoneix (talk) 17:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

ITN recognition for Cyclone Michaung

On 7 December 2023, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Cyclone Michaung, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Ed [talk] [OMT] 16:56, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi from a new editor!

Well, I'm not actually new - I spent a lot of time researching the protocol and combing through other articles and talk pages before I made my first contribution. The first article that I felt badly needed editing was the Shungite article. It was poorly written (it contradicted itself) and used news sources as fact sources. I replaced the errors with corrections, all were properly sourced (PubMed ID numbers). Editor "MikeNorton" has reverted it and wiped out my contributions 3 times now. On his last revert, he said, "please discuss on the talk page before contributing" - so I did. I explained every change that I was making beforehand, cited my sources and took extreme caution to 1) ensure that the article is encyclopedic 2) make it the most accurate article I can. I spent a lot of time - hours - on sourcing citations. There is no "bias" towards the changes... but he keeps reverting. I need assistance, and would really be grateful for help. MelroseReporter (talk) 13:14, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi @MelroseReporter, this is turning out to be a edit war which is strongly discouraged. I see that you have started a discussion in the talk page and I think you should wait for the other person to reply before making any further changes. I cannot help you directly in this situation as I don't have enough knowledge about geology.
Alternatively, if the dispute doesn't solve you may raise the issue to the WP:Dispute resolution noticeboard. Leoneix (talk) 13:33, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

March 2024

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Union Bank of India, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it.

The Show preview button is right next to the Publish changes button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 22:22, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Jessicapierce, Thanks for reminding me about the preview feature. I've actually known about this feature for quite some time now. In the edits I made using AWB, I removed some overlinked articles. I will keep minor details in mind (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Union_Bank_of_India&diff=next&oldid=1215233440) Leoneix (talk) 04:01, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Ain't I Right Page

Hello Leoneix,

I'm SSBelfastFanatic. I added the lyrics to the "Ain't I Right" page, but you removed them due to me not providing a source. Should lyrics to a song even need a source, if they're the main focus of the song? I am also unsure of what you classify as a "reliable source" due to the fact that I found two websites with the lyrics on them, and the Wikipedia source creator listed them both as unreliable. I'd like some clarification if at all possible.

Thank you,

SSBelfastFanatic SSBelfastFanatic (talk) 13:02, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi! @SSBelfastFanatic
You cannot even put the lyrics in the article even with reliable sources as it would be a copyright violation per WP:NOTLYRICS. Hope it clarifies your doubts. Happy editing! Leoneix (talk) 13:17, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
I will replace the citation issue notice with a copyvio notice on your talk page. Leoneix (talk) 13:19, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Leoneix,

Please review WP:CSD so you understand the speedy deletion criteria better. For example, "A" criteria only apply to articles in the main space of the project. If you have questions, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:00, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

@Liz, Sorry about that. I do know A refers to articles. I wanted to ask that in cases where draft are made by just copying existing articles, what procedure is to be followed? I have now put it up for WP:MFD. Leoneix (talk) 05:15, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Copypatrol

Hi Leoneix,
Thank you for your contributions to Copypatrol. Whilst many of your reviews have been correct, I think I should highlight some specific areas I think you may want to read up on:

  • Copying between Wikipedia articles still requires attribution to be fixed-- see WP:CWW. I note that you are marking many of these cases (e.g. [1]) as "No action needed". At a minimum, these require an dummy edit with a summary that conforms to the requirements at WP:PATT. I appreciate that you notified the user, but the focus should be repairing the attribution.
  • When there is a blatant copyright violation, simply reverting it is not enough. In many cases, revision deletion is required under criterion RD1. User:Enterprisey/cv-revdel is a script that can help with this (e.g. here someone else did it for you).
  • Copyright violations are not allowed anywhere on Wikipedia, whether that be the mainspace or userspace (here). We apply the same criteria to all areas of the project, with no prejudice for whether it is in an article (though obviously that is where the focus is).

Dealing with copyright violations is one of the harder parts of contributing to Wikipedia, so if you are unsure of how to deal with something, I would recommend leaving it to someone else. From a cursory glance at your other reviews, they seem alright for the most part.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. – Isochrone (talk) 19:10, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Thanks @Isochrone for pointing out. I will take a break for a few days and go through the policies once again before contributing again. Leoneix (talk) 03:59, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited North Bengal State Transport Corporation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Diesel. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
